I miss Shannon as mentor as well. He was so calm yet encouraging.

I hope Callum shows up as he is one my other favourite former contestants too.

Same here.  He's sorely missing 😞

Callum needs a place in this show if they're going to bring back past contestants. I've always liked him over Adam the winner, whom I have nothing against,  and was way over the moon when George offered him a job.

Well, aside from being pregnant she also looked to have gained weight in general but I'm sure she will be back to her gorgeous self in no time.  She apparently went into labour the other night while watching her episode!  I wonder if she's had the bub yet?

I didn't know one could watch TV while being in labour!  (I'm just humoring you, Katisha, teehee!)

Since you've revealed your age earlier, I can tell you that I'm just a year older than you are, so being a child of the late sixties and the whole seventies, I got used to men with actual hair, donning BBQs and cooking spaghetti sauces.  I'd much rather have a Simon haircut than a Dereck one, like he picked a roadkill and simply smashed it on top of his skull.

Speaking of men donning BBQs, I've just bought a charcoal thingie.  I keep looking at it, doing nothing, horribly terrified. In Georgia's words, it's a complete disaster!  😉

  3. @xchouchoutex  All is fine, thank you for asking.  It's that I'm so far behind you guys that any comment I could make would be sorely outdated.  But I do read every comment along the road, and as usual I'm totally in love with this community.  There's no better online experience to me than the MasterChef one.  So even though I don't comment as much as I used to, nothing skips my reading.  🙂

Also,  was I the only one laughing that much seeing the judges in shorts?  It's a first.  And @katisha and @misgabi13, and I'm hope I'm not wrong, but possibly @akr (sorry if I'm not right!), it was delightful to see your corner of the planet.  Beautiful landscape all over the place.  Is it always this windy, or it was a special day?

I do owe Elena, my second favourite, an apology.  When she first appeared, my reaction was, oh, crap, she's gotten so fat since!  The minute it was announced that she was pregnant, I wished my apartment had a basement I could crawl under.  Stoopid me!

I'm currently rewatching S7 and have so much enough of attention-hogging Sara with her bedroom eyes.  Producers loved her, that much is clear.  I'm nearing her expulsion and can't find a better excuse to open a bottle of champagne which I never drink, disliking champagne.  Seeing her butt (that she probably find extremely sexy) out of the door would be worth it.

I really like Derek! He's a nice guy and an excellent worker bee. Twice now he's been shown to be doing almost anything and everything in team challenges and is always in good spirits while working hard!

At this moment, he's the only one I can see myself to be rooting for.  We've probably never seen the best of him yet.

My this season's eye candy is Simon.  Sorry, @katisha, but I do love a man with longish hair!

Billie.  She is my all time favourite contestant on the female side.  Callum being the one on the other side.  I feel soooooo bad for her.  She's an introvert, what were they thinking putting her in that position?  And what was she thinking in agreeing? The good news is that she seems to outwardly get a better grip of her role.  That stint could very well be life changing happening for her in terms of inner growth.

Stephanie:  While I love her bubbly self, I can't get past that hair and those glasses.

Blonde girls:  As in every season, I can't tell them apart.  I know that the habit of dying your hair blonde (WHY??) will never go away, but it makes it difficult for me.  I'd rather have a very distinctive Jessica from S7 than the magazine surfer girl who eventually looks like any other girl with dyed blonde hair.  Except if your name is Stephanie and you walk on the surface of the earth with THAT FUCKING haircut.

Abbey:  I'm not as adverse to her as some of you are, but I 'm sure ain't gunning for her winning.

I've just realized that Tim's surname is Bone.  T. Bone, hahahahaha!

@xchouchoutex  Salut, toi!  Contente de te retrouver! 🙂

@dnagirl Good luck in your fantastic journey!

  5. One more "I want to be tasted" and I'll really be feeling dirty.

"I think they come together at the end." <-- Anushka, cooking dumplings

I'm officially dirty for rolling on the floor at this.

  6. Haven't read the previous posts, so as not to get spoiled.

I'm just beginning episode 10, and seeing these people so over the top by having the quite ordinary Nigella around feels like I smell their own peepee odour coming out of my panties in  waves.

People there, the Beatlemania was in the early 60s and there were way more crazies than your pajamas-wearing screaming lot.

  7. It's only 21 minutes in the second episode and, ladies and gentlemen...  ice cream and crumble already.  Wow, that feels so comfortable, not too much change. The old comfy slippers aren't going away.  Ha.

    Next, a dome?

Edit:  no, a parfait and a panna cotta!  I'm dying here!  Maybe these people have watched the show, but they never read these forums or they would know a thing or four, hahahaha!

    Katishaaaaa! 😀

I'm so happy we're back, the same old gang.  🤗

It looks like Gordon won't be back.  I'll be missing the raw salmon still swimming in the ocean *throws salmon across the room*

From the first episode, it looks like fennel is lined up to be a replacement for the once famed beetroots.  I suggest you all try basmati rice cooked with fennel seeds topped with shrimp cooked in garlic and lemon juice.  It's maniac.  From a simple homecook perspective.  Even I can't make ice scream.

  9. My favourite character, the red scooter, is baaaack! Weeee!

Tedious first two episodes.  I can't wait till the game is on.  Who had a laugh at that contestant who made ice cream?  He watched too many episodes, maybe, and thought he was game on.  Bwahahaha.

I got a severe case of 1973 flashback seeing Matt's pants.  Next, he's gonna appear with curlers under a net.  Hiding a whiskey flask under his thing he wears in his pocket.

  10. Aaaaw, shucks!  Thanks for the heads up, SilverStormm.  I did have to search quite a bit to find "us" again.

If PepperMonkey reads this:  this is January, the mental countdown has begun for both of us!  Weepee!

Happy New Year to all viewers, wishing you many good meals not made of beetroots and domes and ice cream!

  11. We don't know why Ty has been missing so much, same with Lou.  The person responsible for the show's blog will not reveal anything personal to any actors regarding their absences unless it comes from them.  Like that time when the actress playing Mallory made it known that she had opted to quit.

It's been two seasons now that fans have been raging at Ty almost constantly MIA, and with good reason.  Ty and Amy are indeed the core, it couldn't work without him. :(

  12. Yes, Caleb is still around.  And so is Scott.  Damn show, letting important characters just become cameos.

And, YAY! the show has been renewed for a 12th season! *does a little happy dance*  Hopefully Ty and Lou will be there full time.  If not, I bet that the ire of the fans over their ongoing absences will drive the show itself into a no-go for a 13th season. :(

  13. What IS that... thing?  3:39 on the first episode and I give up.  The premise was so inviting that I'll take that as a double wham, seeing there's no way to go through an episode with that screaming lady full of fake, and almost everything else full of fake.  Damn, thought I had found another nice cooking show.  :(

I could watch an entire show of Sylvia just walking around, drinking vodka, and saying weird crap. I am actually liking this show a lot. My husband and I binged it and we really got into it.

I could only endure one episode. Sylvia Weinstock was adorable and thank goodness, since she was pretty much the only thing that kept me from tearing out my own eyeballs.

Amen to that!  She was sympathetic right from the start ("I DRINK VODKA!" Hahaha!)  Alas, there's only this one shining lady to outbalance the horror of the rest.  Hello, show.  Goodbye, show.

  14. Tim!  Frigging Tim!  I can't stand him either.  Apparently, the actor is a big name in Alberta, and he also directs a couple of episodes each season, so I guess we're stuck with him.  Meh.

I just caught up with the first two episodes, and I must say this was probably the best beginning of a season.  They've injected more humor it seems.  It was always either Jack or Tim that got the comic parts (in which Tim was never funny).  Or have I missed something in the past seasons and just had my eyes opened on the general humor?

Lou does grate, but for some reason I'd still want her as my sister.  She grates but she's great.

Is there going to be a thread for each episode this season?  This show really doesn't attract the attention it should, seeing how well it is put together.

On a shallow note, it seems like Ty is trying to look like a 40 years old businessman with that new haircut.  I laughed it off and mentally called him "Daddy".  ;-)

  15. Not to distract from the GoT discussion, but I'm a Mad Men fan too and I haven't heard this angle -- Weiner changing things to suit the audience. In regard to which character? Don?? PM me if possible (I haven't explored all the Previously functions thus far, so I don't know if we actually have that option...)

No, on the contrary, Weiner is doing his own thing and not at all listening to the audience, like LOST showrunners unfortunately did.  It was just a joke, the poster said to me that showrunners can't listen to the audience wants and wishes, otherwise the show loses in quality.  Mathew Weiner totally agrees with that statement. ;)

  16. She looked like Sleeping Beauty.  I have always maintained that the two of them loved each other.  But no one but me was feeling their relationship.  Well, that was very touching to me how Jon set up her pyre himself.

Can I join your Feeling Their Relationship committee?  You're alone no more.

  17. Isn't it possible to waive your contractual right to appear in the opening credits, probably in return for an extra fee of some kind?

I'd actually be very curious to know.  I remember that during the LOST years, credits would always appear no matter what, supposedly due to whatever laws you have in the U.S. regarding credits needing to appear at the beginning of a show, and reading them was like reading spoilers.  ("OMG, Frank is not dead!!"  Frank appears.  "Welp, I kinda had a clue, didn't I?")  Have the laws changed since then?  It would be neat to know.

Writers who change things because of what some of their audience says generally ruin their product.

  18. Well, Tyrion and Jon have by far the most chapters. So I don't think the writers changed things about him because of Dinklage being "wildly popular" or because of "Dinklage's charisma."

Tyrion has about 100% more chapters than Sansa, so it's not like the writers had the same amount of material for the two of them to build upon.

The conversation was about "St. Tyrion" on television vs book Tyrion, not about how many chapters and how much material D&D have to work with.

Jon has a lot going both in the books and the series, yet he's not very popular with the TV audience, because many complain about Kit's apparent lack of acting chops - and forever open mouth (I disagree, but it's like a mainstream opinion anyway.)  See the many negative reactions to an entire episode dedicated to him last week.   Audience response is capital for a network, hence Dinklage's character made more sympathetic - is what I think, not saying it's gospel.  Like Winnief said, viewers need someone to root for.  It doesn't quite work with Jon but it does with Tyrion.  I may be talking bananas, but they're bananas based on some logic. ;)
