  1. In the context of the show, the former handmaids seem to have more autonomy (for lack of a better word) as sex workers than as handmaids. Spoiler/speculation that makes a jump to The Testaments, the book
  2. New Bethlehem looks like Florida, all the cookie cutters and weird people. Cult leader Serena. June should have saved Noah and left the mob get to her. The ambassadors look like a bunch of people who are caving too easily to something they know exactly what it is. That is very close to reality. I understand that the refugees must be feeling the pressure in the countries they are but one of the ambassadors said that it would be voluntary. Do I wonder what would be worse: staying in a place that discriminates and where you are unwelcome, or go back t a place that doesn't really exist, and where there is no guarantee of something better? I wish they had gone more deep into this terrible situation. Aunt Lydia saying that the ritualistic rape of women was part of a service deserved a punch on the face. As Sex Workers at least they can feel they have some control on how things are done
  3. Same. The character is just walking around without any purpose, really. Bradley Whitford may be the snarkiest actor out there but he is the same in every character he plays. Sometimes I think I am watching The West Wing.
  4. Serena just can't have a thought that is not indoctrination and/or her own religious beliefs. Every three words out of her mouth has to be followed by one that conveys her "religiosity". It is annoying and disrespectful because it assumes everyone has the same belief system. It is also arrogant because those people believe they are closer to the god they worship just because they follow the word of said god that is in their head. I have little patience for people like this, including family members that keep "god blessing me" when they know exactly how I feel
  5. Yes, it does happen and sometimes the creative licenses are beyond absurd (like in grey's anatomy, a show I tried to watch several times and just can't) I should have added context that really like this show, and would be ok with it taking licenses to keep telling what I consider good stories that expose the ills of the system and its effects on everyone
  6. I agree. They need to keep the character because it seems she is a favorite. I also think they might take some creative license and keep all the students and all the rest put for as long as they think it is working for the show (as they see it - meaning money keeps coming in).
  7. I watched the first two episodes together and was pleasantly surprised in the first one that June didn't play the super hero too hard. But that didn't last long because, OBVIUOSLY, she is the only one who can save two full grown adults that she doesn't even know need saving. It HAS to be her. I guess Super June is back. Sadly.
  8. Watching the "previously" intro, I barely remembered what had happened and wasn't that interested. I surprised myself because I actually liked most of the episode and even liked Elizabeth Moss, which is a big jump for me. Still remember nothing about Nick and his wife, and the father in law(?). Was he in the other seasons? I think June helped Serena because of Noah, she was empathizing with her. I was afraid she was going to jump too. What I liked the most was that they didn't make her into super hero, even if she saved Serena from the "mob" she was also vulnerable. There are two things that made the show suck for me and not watching some episodes and one of them was Super June all the time. Not really interested in Lawrence and Bradley's Whitford's little sarcastic quips. The character has run its course as far as my interest goes. I hope they just go deep in setting the stage for the other show. I read the book, didn't like it, thought it was Margaret Atwood's attempt to salvage the massacre of her book by the showrunners, so she wrote a sequel that could justify the TV version of what I consider was a masterpiece. Basically she sold out and then tried to take back some control. But because I didn't care about the book, I might not bother with whatever they do with the show, it can be entertaining and inconsequential. And a question: wasn't Nichole supposed to be a little older, and wasn't the baby actor from the previous season older than the baby this time?
  9. Sterling Brown is on NPR's Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me. You can catch it on an app too, not only on the radio
  10. Because million dollar companies want to keep as much as they can from the millions of dollars they milk from the public coffers.
  11. Exactly! We (the world) became a bunch of lazy thinkers. In some places more than in others but in general just a bunch of people who prefer to join a cult than question things. There is no critical thinking anymore and it is pervasive. I know so many people who one would call "smart" and who had so many privileges in life following the pied piper like little children I actually didn't know that until a couple of weeks ago. It is the same with Covid. It is still too soon for a comprehensive study but initial clinical observations have shown that having Covid multiple times my affect long term prognosis, specially for younger people (children and teens) I think that the story being thrown out there after the mass casualty dramatic hour - and it was just about an hour and a half, all that - was to show that an ER doesn't really stop, people hardly take a breather and have to go on as if they are just fine. Also because there is a real and dangerous outbreak of preventable and contagious disease in the country that undermine the work of doctors in favor of the internet - and I have a serious story about many doctors botching treatment for a friend and suggesting something that it would not be viable to them, and that I had to find out with the help of the internet. In this case, I was right. But there is a lot of crap on the web
  12. That's why I said that nobody would want to CAUSE a disability. It is about the focus of the conversation. The worst case scenario is death. Mentioning any possible disability in a world where disabled people are dismissed as nothing - and at this moment things can get so ugly, many may literally die - those possible outcomes should come with more context. Anti-vaxx people are cultists, they don't care about science, they are willful ignorants. Getting them to fear a disability is the wrong way, in my opinion, unless it is mentioned that while being disabled is not necessarily a death sentence, it can limit a child in a world not ready to support a disable person, and it can cause co-occurrent issues that can be life threatening. I do have an issue with how disable people and disabilities are talked about in the media, including entertainment media because that's the lives of people around me. Not dismissing the unwanted result being a disability, but not just trowing things out there in a seemingly rush to go through the script
  13. agreed. I actually said that in my comment. The focus of the conversation is my issue.
  14. True. There is no place safe for anyone in a mental health crisis because patients in this country don't have the right to have supports, continuing treatment and anything else. And if you call the police, they get killed just for yelling. It is a completely absurd situation This is also a problem, to think that a wheelchair, being non-speaking is inherently bad. We need to be careful with those stigmas. The problem with the anti-vaxx people is that they are against science and it all grew out of whack when Andrew Wakefield decided that autism was so bad, and that vaccines cause it, that autistic kids would be better dead. Being in a wheelchair and unable to talk is not inherently bad. Of course, we don't want to CAUSE this to anyone but that's not where the conversation should go. It should be about denying years of data and science advances to eliminate a life threatening, contagious disease. Meanwhile, we need to respect every disabled person independent of how they become disabled. And now we have a government that is actually citing Wakefield as proof of how bad vaccines are.
  15. It was just the first season and this is because it was the only season that was faithful to the book. The whole book is in that season. The rest was the adventures of super June. This book was really visionary, really good, and the show just destroyed the premise and the uniqueness of it. I don't even remember how the last season ended, or if I even watched it. It was so boring. Not sure I want to see this upcoming one.I think I would prefer The Testaments because it is a silly book so whatever they do with the seres will not really mess up with anything
  16. I think it was established that he was a reporter. It wasn't a kid either, but a full grown man
  17. It s not just the demographics. It would be a stretch because a mass shooter is either having a crisis and does something impulsive and devastating, which in most cases would lead them to kill themselves; or they do the impulsive thing and get shocked but then would likely change the attitude, not remaining shocked and looking distressed. Maybe trying to conceal by over-acting some pain or talk too much, or something that they would believe could distract anyone from looking into them; or they are sociopaths/psychopaths, in which case they would not be able to disguise their elation with the results of their carnage. If the writers decide togo with the woman, then the show would lose points on my personal meter of quality writing. As for David, I guess they made him go to the hospital for the dramatic scenes. He would likely know about the shooting so it makes no sense that he walks in the hospital as if nothing is happening - which I think is your point. A silly attempt coming from the writers to make us believe he is the shooter. My guess is that the shooter will be caught off camera and we will just hear that they got the shooter. I don't want to see a law enforcement procedural.
  18. There was at least one moment when she was following instructions from King. I want to believe that the producers did do their research and talked to people about a situation like this. My guess is that nothing is as it should be, the adrenaline is too high, people are just looking for the most serious cases to try and save. Mistakes will be made but possibly never really acknowledge because the chaos is overwhelming. We still don't know what happened to Myrna. She should have been shipped somewhere else, the clinic or upstairs but then why was someone asking where she was?
  19. Anyone in the US? Firearms are easier to get than some allergy medications, there is little to no regulation and, perhaps most importantly, people in the US are too individualistic and one of the least happy - as in satisfied with their lives - in comparable countries in the world. It is a perfect storm for some to either just lose it completely - not an excuse, a plausible explanation - or to act on their sociopathy when life is so terrible and they cannot get their scapegoats out of sight fast enough. This country has a pathological unhappiness and a pathological sense of entitlement. This can manifest itself in some people
  20. The law is not that forgiving. They go by procedure and don't really care if the person is saving lives. They could throw int here that there was an officer and try to make a case but they would certainly try to punish her. Most of them are not really naked. Depending on the budget, the ones without lines might be dummies. I don't think so. It would be a big stretch. She is there to either show the different ways people are affected or she will be the one able to identify the shooter, maybe. I have a feeling that they already know how many seasons they want to roll with this. I hope they don't go on forever because it is very rare that a show can be good for more than 5 seasons. And they will definitely not change the cast each season because, at least for the first two seasons, Noah Wyle is the anchor of the show Her anklet is problematic and she complain about it in the first episode. It goes off for no reason, anytime, even when they know where she is where she is supposed to be. The amount of trauma in this last two episodes is visible, even the ones that are still to come. I can almost see the adrenaline rushing through the veins of everyone as they go from one victim to the other without time to process. Plus the trauma on each patient, the social workers having to identify bodies, the families waiting for any news. There is so much, and I 100% believe this is close to what really happens. I wonder if they had special consultants for this situation. No wonder we are a very traumatized country. I remember being in a hospital as a companion and talking to a nurse in 2021. The uncertainty of COVID still there but not like in 2020, when nobody really knew what that virus could do, was doing. One nurse said that in 2020 the hospital had one room where the medical workers could go and just scream. And the nursing staffing has never really recovered. On the other hand, kind of, there are plenty of doctors and nurses who are not qualified and rude. I had experience with both. Once a doctor not able to explain to me something, then blaming me for not understanding, in an ER visit when I was upset and nervous. The other time someone I know going to the hospital for what I discovered on the INTERNET! that it was Drug Induced Liver Injury, which any specialist on the case could have seen by actually reading the chart and the list of meds. All this is to say that I see how some people here are hoping that Santos fail because the character is unlikable, this show has so far being pretty realistic so anyone could fail and hurt patients, even the most likable one. It is devastating either way because the patients have nothing to do with it.
  21. I am glad they didn't go with a reboot. After all those seasons, even a show that I think has more good things than not good gets boring. The Pitt is a much better concept, imo
  22. That's weird, that someone thinks of the show as a reboot. It sounds a bit whoever wrote the piece is extrapolating or not being truthful to what was actually said. As for footage, as far as I understand this industry, actors do not have ownership of their characters so no footage of Carter would be used, unless HBO/MAX bought the rights to ER and even then I am not sure of the details involving creators, etc
  23. Yes, I know but she was just mentioned once, so I was wondering if this the writers have some surprises or if it is a red herring.
  24. Where is Myrna?
