I like Sam's hair about an inch or two longer, honestly. Right now it looks odd. At this length, he'd need some layers. Is it really the network that won't let them change their hair styles?

I think there is a big difference having an adult brain versus a teenaged one. She will understand the ways of the world in a way a teenager won't. I think of some of the dumb mistakes I made when I was younger, trusting people who should never have been trusted, wasting time and money on things that were not really in my best interest. If I were to have to do it all over again (and I wouldn't go back to being a teenager no matter what!) I would never make those mistakes. Tina has all the benefit of her years of experience. But I do wish there had been a throw away line about a new ID for her. That would have been so simple.

I got the impression it had nothing to do with the mark, just that Dean was replying to Tina's mention of his drinking habits. I don't think his drinking is affected by the MoC except that the stress of having it makes him more likely to drink, but not much more, as he was already quite the heavy drinker before the MoC. But I appreciate the mention of his drinking habits, because Dean has to know he drinks way more than a normal person would.

I agree I don't have much problem with Dean's alcohol consumption. But I am glad he mentioned that he's a "functioning alcoholic". Because Dean drinks A LOT. Not just beer, but he regularly does several shots of hard liquor at one sitting in addition to a beer or 3 or 4. To not mention it would be a huge elephant in the room. I don't think he needs to stop drinking, but I'm glad his excessive drinking was at least mentioned.

I really enjoyed this episode. It was fun. I thought that Sam had some great facial expressions in response to TeenDean and I loved the Taylor Swift at the end. That was my thought. That letting Tina go off by herself was very different from the situation with Claire. She's an adult, and she knows what she wants to do, and it was to leave. Even though she was in her teenaged body, she's not really a teenager. And I hope this leads to either ending the Rowena story or making it more interesting. Because until now, she's been a boring character in a dull storyline, which is causing Crowley to be dull this season.

I've been to nice bathrooms in NYC, but CBGBs stands out to me, over 20 years later as nasty. There was pretty cool graffiti everywhere, though. Most of my music is still what I listened to in college and right after. I was into punk in college and then post-punk/alternative and some heavy metal, but it is hard to "Rage Against the Machine" when you drive carpool in a minivan. I like the Clash, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Green Day, etc. Filter came on Songza today, and I thought that would fit in good with Supernatural. http://youtu.be/o9mJ82x_l-E White Zombie's More Human than Human would be great for the current Dean storyline. http://youtu.be/E0E0ynyIUsg I know they've used White Zombie before, but I really like that song. And I really wish they'd use Nine Inch Nails. I think That's What I Get would be great, but honestly, anything would be good. Hurt would be very poignant also for the MoC story. The only more recent stuff I'm familiar with is either pop stuff my son listens to or if I happen to hear it by accident. I really like Muse, having first heard the song Supermassive Black Hole on Doctor Who. That is how I find music lately, via soundtrack, it seems!

I actually went to CBGB many years ago, when I was in college. A friend's band was playing there. Let me say one thing about it. The bathrooms were the most disgusting thing ever! But I'm glad I got to experience it, especially now that it's closed. I obviously have different tastes in music than most of you, as I don't really listen to blues. Having said that, I kind of liked the songs you posted!

I'm right there with you. I detest Genesis! And Procol Harum, while I don't have quite as strong feelings against them, I don't like them either. It would be interesting if the used a Lady Gaga song, though. It would be something completely different.

I'd love to see some Elvis Presley on the show, especially "A Little Less Conversation". I think that would be a great song to play during a fight scene. I think some Green Day would be nice, too! Maybe Longview.

When I was watching this, I thought there was originally more in this story that had to be cut either for time or some other reason. It seemed that the way the guy and woman were exchanging looks seemed like they had a plan in mind, but in the end, whatever it was, got dropped. I was just incredulous that Claire was talking about people killing her first dad, then killing her second dad, and neither of them were the least bit shocked about these murders.

Blaze of Glory by Bon Jovi was written for Young Guns, so it makes sense it would also fit for Supernatural. I think that is when I first heard the song. But I'm old, and saw that movie in the theater.

That is so true. If we know anything, physical torture produces false information. Do we even know for sure that Dean will need the first blade to remove the mark? Can we trust anything Metatron said?

He's funny, Rue! Since I drive him most places, he's been forced to listen to my music most of his life (Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole!) but when he really hates something, I don't play it. So no more Nora Jones or Cranberries when he's in the car. His favorite music right now is Bon Jovi, especially "Wanted Dead or Alive" and "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Outshined" by Soundgarden, "Head Like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails, "American Music" by the Violent Femmes, "Telephone" by Lady Gaga and all of 1989 by Taylor Swift among others. He's still really into the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, too. It is amusing to hear him sing along with his play list in his room, going from Blank Space to Head like a Hole then to Cherry Bomb.

My son has never been to a bar, nor from Pennsylvania to Massachusetts, and he loves Sweet Caroline, as song I loathe. If I still had it on my phone, he'd be me to play it in the car constantly. But I deleted it from my phone months ago when I couldn't take it any more. I'll take Taylor Swift over that any day of the week!

My 10 year old son loves Bon Jovi. I'm not sure why, as my husband & I like the music okay, but I wouldn't say it is something we play often. His favorite song is "Dead or Alive" and I can't tell you how often I have to listen to it in the car. Just today I got the request to hear it, and he was singing along to it like Sam was in No Rest for the Wicked. He's never seen Supernatural, but he was even doing the facial expressions Sam has once he starts getting into it when he sings along. But he did pick up my musical taste in the Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, U2, INXS and lately, to the horror of my husband, Nine Inch Nails. So there is a bit of picking up the tastes of your parents.

I figured as the scribe of God, the Angels were keeping him alive as hoping he'd eventually cooperate so they could undo his spell that ejected them all from Heaven in the first place. Just my own opinion. I wish they'd had cast a better actress as Claire. If they had, I'd find that story so much more enjoyable. I find the idea of it really intriguing, and the actual story isn't bad, but the actress is so bad that I think that is why I don't like it. The original actress was very good in the one episode she was in. I wonder if she isn't available or not the age they were going for or something. Is it me or is Crowley's Hell dull? I miss Crowley's banter with Sam & Dean, and even with Castiel. I wish he's interact more with them. The little bit we got in this episode made me miss it all the more.

I apologize if this has been mentioned before, I didn't see it anywhere. My son & I have been watching Gilmore Girls, and I noticed there's an episode there called "Swan Song". So Jared Padalecki has been in two episodes of two different series called "Swan Song". Of course, the Gilmore Girls episode is very different than Supernatural's episode.

Wow, so it was used twice, huh? I wonder if they used any other songs more than once? I remember it now from the coin montage, but not Simon Said, so maybe I'll have to re-watch that.

As I don't have cable, I'm wondering, when they play season one on TNT, do they replace the music or is it the original music? I first watched season one on Netflix and didn't know why everyone was going on and on about Faith, and the music, until I bought season one on DVDs. I agree it makes a difference with the original music. And as I binge watched the first 9 seasons, I got a bit sad that the later seasons have less classic rock song. Also, I recently heard Soundgarden's "Fell on Black Days" and I KNOW this song was in an episode, but for the life of me, I can't remember which episode. Does anyone know?

Thanks guys. I didn't realize that Adam's soul was in there with Michael and Lucifer. Do you think Michael would be protecting his soul from Lucifer then? If he were to be resurrected, would he be as damaged as Sam was?

I binge watched on Netflix over the summer after having Supernatural recommended by several people. I enjoyed all seasons with a bit less enjoyment of season 7 and the Leviathans. I found them boring. After talking to people who watched it in "real time" I was surprised how much less they liked season 6 and 8 than I did. So I do think binge watching is different. When you don't have to wait a week or more between episodes, you don't have time to reflect on what was wrong. You just move on to the next in the series. I also have a question for all you. I see Adam mentioned as still being in Hell, and maybe because I did binge watch I missed something. However, wasn't it just his meat suit that Michael was using, as Adam had already died in the episode where he was introduced.

This is the episode that got my husband hooked on Supernatural. He wondered why I added Renegade to my playlist, when I generally don't like classic rock. Once I explained that I had seen this episode recently and it was in my head, he wanted to watch it. That was just over 2 weeks ago. Now we're almost done with season 1, and he's the one who wants to stay up late to watch "just one more episode". I love Hendrickson! He has to be one of my favorite recurring characters from the entire show.

I was on TWOP back when Lost was on the air, but the email account I had was one I don't have anymore. I created a new account at TWOP just for OUaT, and only posted a couple of times there. I was itsabear (without any capital letters) over there, but decided to add caps to the new name here. I'm glad I found this place, as I actually liked to read the forums as much, if not more, than the recaps.
