  1. I can't stand Johnny. He's so full of himself. And mean. Regarding Johnny saying something to Bao like, "I didn't want to date you for the last 15 years," that was just mean. I doubt that Bao crossed his mind much during that time. Many people change between age 20 and age 35. At my various class reunions, several people found love with people they did not look at twice in high school.
  2. What I hate most about this show is that the experts know what is going on between Jess and Dan and don't call them on it. They let poor Tamara think that the relationship still has a chance. Nice way to humiliate someone on national tv, experts (so-called) Suzy is just an awful person. I feel for her daughter. Cyrell's mother seems nice and level-headed while Cyrell and her brother Ivan are hot-headed. I understand Nick's feeling that he's just waiting for the next explosion to happen. I wonder if Ivan will ever find any man acceptable for his sister. Run, Nick, run. I wish I had the willpower to stop watching this train wreck.
  3. I didn't get Vinnie cutting Brianna's hair. Vinnie set it up by telling Bri to close her eyes, that he had a surprise for her. Bri asked if it was a good surprise, on the level of cheesecake. Vinnie says yes and cuts one of her braids off. I presume Bri had said that she was planning to have her hair cut - but why would it be a good surprise for Vinnie to cut a random strand off. And Brianna - "bossy" is not a positive adjective. If your friends and family felt the need to mention your bossiness to strangers 5 or 6 times at your wedding, it would appear to be a problem and maybe you should work on it.
  4. Yes. I think it was he and his friends went out, Mick took viagra and pulled the tablecloth over his head to make a tent while he pleasured himself. I tend to think it's true just because it's so bizarre. His friend must have thought it was funny and had no idea others wouldn't see it that way (or he's no friend).
  5. When the girls were sitting around with their margaritas (or whatever those drinks were), I noticed Virginia's glass was nearly empty and the others were at least half full. When they got up to move to the kitchen, everyone stood up and started to walk away. Virginia downed what was left in her glass, put her glass down, and left with a fuller glass in her hand. I guess she must have picked up someone's unfinished drink. Jake and the eggs ... I worried that he was eating the group's breakfast for the next morning. If I were the first to arrive at a shared accommodation, I wouldn't presume to use that much food without checking with the others. But maybe Jake brought the eggs with him or maybe he arranged with production to have the fridge stocked with steak and eggs for him. Virginia is not ready to get married. The experts should not have matched someone with a cat allergy with someone who has cats. But Virginia is not at all sympathetic. There are compromises that can be made. Erik's gone half the week. V and the cats could sleep in a second bedroom when he's away. The cats have been mostly sleeping without V for several weeks and I'm sure they're fine. V&E could put in an air filtration system. V's not looking to solve the issue. And V's insistence on weekend drinking and staying over at her friends' places ... I'm not surprised Erik is talking down to her. If I were matched with someone who thought it was okay to do that, I'd be saying the same thing: You don't understand what marriage is - when you're married, that's not appropriate. If Erik had been matched with any of the other women, I don't think he would have come off the way he does. I truly hope that Virginia realizes she has a drinking problem and decides to get help - for her sake - I think she and Erik are done
  6. Maybe I'm naive but I don't think the winner is going to be a set up. IIRC, last season they brought in two or three local appraisers and averaged their appraisals. Jasmine's house was only $15,000 more than Mina's - a drop in the bucket on a million-dollar house. The more "designer" houses - Allison's and Leanne's were in 3rd and 4th - they clearly got dinged for not appealing to a wide audience. The design vs value couldn't have been more apparent than in Leanne's kitchen. Leanne took down a wall of cabinets and put up a rock wall. I couldn't believe she won the kitchen challenge. Yes, it looked great but it was totally impractical in terms of lack of storage and being nearly impossible to clean. I'm sure the appraisers devalued it.
  7. I don't think it will mean it's rigged. The weekly challenges seem to be as much or more about design as about adding value. The first week, what tipped the balance to Allison and Mike winning was their bowl made from melted Mason jars. For the final all-around win, appraisers come in and appraise the homes. David and Tiffany won the living room challenge, but they may get dinged some because some of their choices won't appeal to a wide base. Now...to tonight's show. A&M's putting green was like M&B's bowling alley. It will appeal to some people, but it will turn others off. I thought M&B's pergola was a nice feature, but I can see the judges' point that the style didn't fit the house. When N&J were putting in the marble tile, I commented to my husband that they'd be really slippery if rain blew in. I know some designers often remove screens from front porches, but if I were going to use a porch in Georgia, i'd want it screened. T&D's front yard looked good. Their backyard does have a great view, but they totally neglected it. I agree with whomever commented about not liking gravel walks. They're dusty and you can't walk on them with any kind of a heel. These houses have huge front yards. I wonder why they were build so far back from the road. Most people would rather have more back yard. And I wonder if codes prevent fences in the front yards. N&J had all that grass and talked about kids playing on the grass in front since there wasn't really a back yard, but in that case, it would be nice if the yard was fenced.
  8. I didn't get the stove criticism either. If you're worried about kids cooking unsupervised, that's going to happen in the regular kitchen too (as it did with Tamara). A parent could be upstairs or outdoors and the kids turn the stove on. (To prevent smaller children from turning on stove knobs, there are covers to prevent that.) If the basement unit was going to be used as part of the family's living space and the stove wasn't going to be used, just unplug it or flip the circuit breaker if it's electric, or turn off the gas. I would think that a bowling alley could potentially be a hazard to young kids. Anyway, I'm glad N&J got the win.
  9. I really dislike Allison and I'm not totally sure why. I've only seen her on Rock the Block and maybe 2 or 3 of her Chicago show episodes. I did like the ombre tile in the bathroom. I didn't mind that the bathroom was smaller. Who wants to clean those huge bathrooms some of these houses have? I'd much rather have the closet space. M&B. The overhead rain showers would have been a deal breaker for me. I loved what they did with the closet and laundry room. Despite my dislike of Allison, I grudgingly rated Mike and her design the highest. D& T: When they were talking about the plan for the sitting area, I told my husband I'd rather have that space as another closet. The wallpaper was OK, but they might to get dinged for that in the appraisal. N&J: OK. I didn't get the love for the antique door to the bathroom. I didn't like the draperies behind the bed. They could have come up something to bring in red. Maybe in the bathroom. With that b&w floor, they could have had a basket of red soaps by the tub or something. Or a black, white and red abstract painting. The whole color challenge was stupid anyway if all they have to do is make some art with that color. M&B's hangar art for the laundry room was best.
  10. I agree. Cook on that stove and then try cleaning splattered grease and spaghetti sauce off those bricks. I thought the judges' critique of Nate and Jeremiah's open shelving was spot on - not functional for families with children. But that brick is not functional for anyone who cooks. And I agree with whoever said it was a bad decision to put the shelves over the windows in David and Tiffany's design. I love David but he has overdone it on the tattoos. And I love Jeremiah. Nate and his then-partner were in Thailand when that big tsunami hit and his partner died. When Jeremiah and Nate were in the process of getting their baby boy through a surrogate, Jeremiah suggested to Nate that they name the baby after Nate's ex (they used his middle name). They also had a photo of Nate's ex on display with their other family photos. Jeremiah said Nate's ex was an important part of Nate's life and should be remembered. Nate said something like, "Now you can see why I married Jeremiah." I honestly don't know that if I were in a position like that, whether I would be confident enough to want my husband's ex's photo around, much less name a child after her. Jeremiah is a good soul.
  11. Vincent's pouting at the salsa lesson...It's been my fantasy since about Season 2 that the couples wear shock collars and are viewed in real time by experts who will shock them whenever they do something stupid. I would have shocked Vincent there. I would have given a mild shock to Ryan for going on too long about his goals. I would have given Clara a mild shock for her comment back. I would have shocked Virginia every time she reached for alcohol. I would have turned up the juice and given Paige a big shock for considering getting back with Chris. Okay, I know they'll never use shock collars. But it seems like in the earlier shows, the couples had more interactions with the experts who would show them clips of when they did good things for building the relationships and clips of "mistakes." As to Chris, I think he's only back because he knows he's going to come across as a bad guy when the show airs, and he wants to rehabilitate his image. Paige, Paige, Paige, just walk away and keep away. He lied to the show; he lied to his ex-fiance.
  12. I thought it was interesting that Virginia said she goes out drinking Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Maybe I just run in the wrong crowds, but it seems that people would more frequently say that at the end of the week they party, or go out clubbing, or bar hopping. Those activities typically involve consuming alcohol, but Virginia is focusing on the alcohol. And she's clearly drinking to excess if she regularly passes out on her friends' couches. Loved seeing Virginia's reaction to seeing that Pastor Cal didn't agree that it's fine to pass out on men's couches when you're married.
  13. Femme banal! That's perfect for Katie.
  14. The show I would like to see instead of "Couples Couch" is "Family Couch." I'd love to hear Katie's dad and stepmom's comments watching the segments with Derek and her - and hearing Zach's family comment on his behavior. I have no desire to listen to comments from Brendan's and Michael's family.
