  1. Loved the " f--k you" look Voight gave him, though.
  2. Does anyone else like to predict who is gonna meet the Grim Reaper each episode? Me, I knew the black dude with the blood clot was a goner the minute he mentioned his fiancé. And Natalie had better pray her knock on the noggin has skewed her thinking; that's just about the only thing that's going to save her dumb ass when those two granola heads sue her. Mind you, they're morons, too. There are other antibiotics besides amoxicillian, idiots. I broke out in a rash from one kind of antibiotic once, and hey, guess what? My doctor switched to another kind! Ninnies.
  3. Damn, that was a good 3 hours of television. I know it's a lot of work for all concerned (read that it took 30 days to shoot) but I hope they can do more of this type of really integrated crossover. The makeup was almost too good. Sheesh.
  4. Can someone help me out? Is it just me? I seem to remember Bill being a vocal supporter of single payer healthcare, and not that long ago. What happened? Did I cross into an alternative universe? Another timeline? When did Bill start supporting the GOP line of everyone loves private insurance? Of course, as a Canadian, I find all the hysteria over "socialism" regarding universal healthcare funny to start with.
  5. What is April's problem? She's a nurse; she should know what addicts are like. Flakey irresponsible annoying Emily needs a good swift kick in her stupid ass. That kid should be adopted out to responsible parents, stat. I swear, if the writers go the route of "Emily abandons the baby, Choi adopts it and then Emily comes back wanting custody" I will not be responsible for my actions. Someone end this aggravating story now. Please. Why are these doctors all so damn dumb?
  6. I hope to hell I never get a doc like Manning. Jesus, what's next? Ignoring a DNR because she thinks the patient has a few good weeks left? Emily and Bernie need to go away. Now. And April needs to go to Al-Anon. All she's doing right now is enabling an addict. Connor wrong about the patient was a refreshing change, but he's probably right about Natalie's new beau. Unfortunately.
  7. Manning? Oh, hell no. She's the one running around telling everyone to keep their babies, AFAIK.
  8. I made it to episode 2 and sorry. The flayed alive guy made me hurl and bail. That and Smoothie dyeing live, screaming rabbits. Look, show, I get that you want to be dark and dangerous and outrageous. But gross for the sake of gross? Forget it. There's a limit and between skinning people alive, organs flying all over the screen, and being knee deep in blood, you have reached it, nay exceeded it a long while back. Westworld nearly skated up to that same limit this limit during its second season, but fortunately its story sustained it. Unfortunately, based on what I've been reading here, I don't think Happy can say the same thing. Pity, because season one, although violent, was fascinating.
  9. Can I just say that my teeth were grinding together so hard that chips of enamel were flying out at the tv screen? JFC, David. Let's see. You're still in high school, so no college. You got a job that pays twelve whole dollars an hour. Great. That's not even fucking poverty level wages. You want your girlfriend to give up her dreams of college so she can either live in squalor working in a dead end job or being a totally fulfilled stay-at-home mom experiencing the joys of surviving on food stamps, shopping at Goodwill and dealing with a partner whose best idea to solve a problem is to start shooting people? Fuck. You. David. And Lily turns out to slightly brain dead too. "But he's mine!". Then think of his future, you stupid girl! And by the way, when are TV producers going to stop selling the trope that teenage girls should keep their dear little bundles of joy? I used to pass by a Salvation Army Day Care on my way to work, and the number of babies dropping off their babies was disheartening. Kids with bookbags in one hand and 18 month olds in the other. Who tells these kids adoption -- or yes, let's be frank -- termination -- is not an option for them??? TV telling them keeping their kids will end up to be a happy-go-lucky, sunshine and roses ending is not a good thing!!! Lily's dad bring a hardass isn't a bad thing, you know. Don't be so happy, Dr. Manning. Lilly isn't making 6 figures like you and can afford a nanny. Sorry about the rant, but enough is enough. P.S. They didn't shoot you soon enough David, you walking pile of toxic masculinity. "My son!". Yeah, like you're the only one who counts.
  10. Why are bratty kids presented as cute and/or normal? I get that the one kid is mourning his brother, but sweet Jesus, if I spoke to my father like that, I'd be sharing my dead brother's grave. I hate that disrespectful brats are the norm on tv.
  11. I'm fascinated by the possibility of Connor trying to run for President. Will this be a satire on the Trump presidency? I mean Connor is a true whack-job, and he obviously lives in a dream world. He talks to Eric Bognosian's (sp?) character and later boasts that he "demolishes" him when it's evident the guy is just too polite to tell Connor he's a looney tune to his face; he suggests he might outlaw drama and then states his platform will be anti-masturbation. Wow! This could be more fun than all the other storylines combined, but then I've always been a political junkie. Of course, YMMV.
  12. Captain, O my Captain ... You said exactly what I am thinking.
  13. Just a quick question. The song that is played at the beginning of each episode sounds familiar, or at least the artist does. Is it the same song/ artist that was featured in True Detective? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.
  14. Why, oh why can't we have more episodes like this? Poignant and heartbreaking, giving us a look at new characters and more information on the park at the same time without unnecessary buckets of gore. Imagine if Shogun World had given us this story about Akane? And frankly, anything would have been preferable to the clusterfuck that was the Confederate fort massacre. And stuff like this just makes current Dolores shallower and more unlikeable, which is a pity because we should sympathize with her. I would have liked to have done the native pastoral experience at Westworld as opposed to mindless bloodshed, but I guess I'm in the minority; obviously their market is sadistic twits.
  15. Cruella: You expressed my concerns perfectly! Thank you! The violence seems senseless and adds nothing to the character growth or story. I still think that stylistically, less can be more. What you imagine is always worse than what you see.
  16. What is bothering me is the unrelenting, unrestrained violence. Convoluted storylines I can deal with; after all, I stuck with Lost and the X-Files to their respective bitter ends. But the weekly dose of carnage this show is serving up is getting to be a bit much. I get that war is not nice, and what is going on is indeed war. But sometimes less is more. I refer you to the reaction to the infamous video tape in the first season of True Detective. We never see its contents, but the characters' reactions suggest things far worse than anything that could be shown on screen. A little bit of this kind of restraint would be a welcome relief.
  17. Ford is not in the matrix, Ford is the matrix. Is that dog the one Ford Jr. killed last season? So many timelines -- I'm gonna need a scorecard.
  18. Compelling, interesting episode. BUT Enough with the gratuitous violence already, writers. The railroad scene was enough to make even Quentin Tarintino yell, " Enough already, fer chrissakes!" and I'm not nearly that inured to violence as he is. You're rapidly running out of sympathetic characters, show, and pretty soon I'll be taking a page from Aliens' playbook and recommend that the whole place be nuked from orbit. I was talking back to the TV while Craddock was carrying on, asking for someone to pul-leese shoot the SOB. Glad when the MiB finally obliged. And boy, Craddock, he blowed up really good, didn't he? And if I contradict myself, then let me echo Walt Whitman: "Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself. I am large; I contain multitudes." Kudos to those as spotted Grace/Emily as William's daughter. Let's hope Dolores never gets a hold of her. I'm guessing the human/host Bernard built was Ford. It just seems the obvious choice. So obviously, I'll be dead wrong. Of course, all of this raises questions about consciousness and reality. Does a difference that doesn't make any difference really a difference? More when I feel better. Right now I'm about as coherent as a host off-loop.
  19. Don't forget Star Trek/Star Wars worlds, Lord of the Rings world or Colonizing Mars world (the latter is my own idea).
  20. Since the revival of Roseanne, I've found a new character to hate. Or, rather, I remember my previous hatred. Darlene. You snotty, sarcastic unlikeable little bitch. God. In the original series, there was an episode where she had dumped David and then had in turn been dumped, and David tells her she's "mean" and she gets the sad face and we're supposed to feel sorry for her. Uh-uh. No fucking way. David was spot on. If any thing, he understated the matter. Now in this new incarnation, she's lost her partner and job, yet still feels superior to her siblings. I'm willing to bet she lost both because she's such an insufferable bratty bitch. Writers, do us all a favour. Have this character struck permanently mute. Better yet, permanently comatose. Mind you, I'm not all that wild about Roseanne, either.
  21. MaryPatShelby. The. Friendly Giant was a Canadian made show that ran in Canada for ages and most Canadians can recite the opening from heart.
  22. From an article I read Here, (search under "Westworld") think maybe PETA might have had some reason initially for concern. Seems HBO hasn't had an exactly stellar track record with animals. I think PETA can be a bit Looney tunes sometimes** but useful, as society requires groups that push the envelope; that's how progress happens. **And sometimes they're bloody well spot-on. Like with big-game hunting. To keep this post vaguely on topic, does anyone think there's the host equivalent of PETA in the outside world? People For The Ethical Treatment of Androids? Maybe that should be in a different thread, though, eh?
  23. Re the closeness of all the various parks/landscapes: the only explanation is that everything is artificial, down to the grass and trees. Otherwise, you would need an entire, separate ecosystem for each park. Plants need pollinators (insects and birds, usually) and those in turn need their support systems, etc. etc. But artificial landscapes allow subtropical Indian jungle next to North American desert and Mongolian winter desert next to arboreal decidual forest. Though it probably cost a boatload of cash to create .... BTW I posted my dislike of big game hunting on Reddit and boy, people there hated that comment. Lotsa hunters there, I guess :) Also -- have we ever seen the moon in the Westworld sky? Because if not, that might indicate it's not on earth.
  24. Well, I'm fascinated but full-blown gonzo confused. And totally hooked. It makes total sense that Raj/India World would be set during the British Colonial period; power, empire, dominance --all part of the "mindset" (for lack of a better term) that those who come to this park crave. I was cheering for the tiger, BTW. I loathe big game hunting and those who practice it --they're all bloody cowards as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sorry that beautiful animal (even if not real) died and that bitch lived. I was yelling at the screen while she was running from the cat, "Now you know how it feels! Not so much fun now, is it?!!" I should only wish this would happen more often in real life. (I never said I was nice!) So I'm guessing Peter gets away somehow, yes? I've read some of the theories on Reddit; I won't repeat any because my brain is still trying to unscramble itself. Still, I think this is half the fun of this show: all the theorizing that goes on!
  25. ITA. But when it comes to Klingons, canon is all over the place. I'm still trying to figure out why these guys look more like the reptilian Xindi than anything else, when according to both TOS and ST: Enterprise, there should be some smooth fore headed guys out there. Then again, Kor and Koloth both had smooth foreheads on TOS and the bumps on DS9, so who know?
