YA seems to have pivoted back to socially conscious, ala The Hate U Give and Love Simon.

I felt bad watching The Darkest Minds because I knew it was never going to get the sequels it had set up. Also, Liam was pretty cute.

I loved Darkest Minds, and I've been a fan of the books for years

  2. So I saw it earlier and I was unimpressed, and I really liked the first one.

    Spoiler

I really hated what they did with Queenie's storyline. And I wished there was some interaction between Queenie and Tina.

I zoned out completely when they were discussing the Lestrange family history

  3. I hated the first Throne of Glass, but I really liked Dorian so I carried on reading. I liked the 3rd and the 4th (mainly because Dorian had a fairly big part), but the 5th one was nearly as awful as the 1st. My biggest problem with the series was the main character and the whole trope of "oh no, something seems to have gone wrong, but of course it's all part of Aelin's plan because she's so amazing and so clever" which seemed to happen multiple times per book.

  4. I ended up downloading the song from the final scene (Ludovico Einaudi - Experience) - it gets to me everytime.

I really want the earrings Dani was wearing when she greets Bug at the door - long star ones, they're very pretty

  5. I loved it. It was so fanservicey - but in the best way possible. So many characters brought back, so many call backs to the other 2 seasons.

I panicked when Lila shot Kala, I really thought for a second they were going to kill her off.#

I loved everything about the wedding scene, with everyone being there together, I liked seeing Angelica there in the circle, and Lana cameoing in the background

I loved that end montage of moments from the relationships - especially Nomi and Amanita's first meeting and I loved the music over that scene.

  6. Moulin Rouge has my 2 favourite songs in a row- 'El Tango de Roxanne' and 'The Show Must Go On', but my favourite scene is the one in the middle where Zidler tells Satine she's dying and that she has to convince Christian that she doesn't love him.

Nicole Kidman especially, is amazing in this scene with Satine's whole speech about Christian loves her and that they're leaving together, especially her delivery of "He loves me Harold. He loves me. And that is worth everything. Were going away from you, away form the Duke, away from the Moulin Rouge!.", her reaction to hearing that she's dying and looking toward Marie to see if it's true, and her reactions to Zidler's 'we're creatures of the underworld' speech convincing her to make Christian believe she doesn't love him to send him away (which I also love).

There's also a great moment at the end of 'The Show Must Go On' when Satine stops near Zidler and he gives this sympathetic look, before she you see her square her shoulder and steel herself to go talk to Christian.

How is the Greatest Showman still in theaters?

    Because it's awesome!

Haha, I work in a cinema and people are still coming to watch it, who haven't seen it before, despite being released 19 weeks ago (on Boxing Day) and the fact we've had it on for 18 weeks of that 19. We've also had people in to see it who've seen it multiple times - I think 6 is the record that I've heard.

  8. Finally saw this, and I thought Margot Robbie was amazing. I feel like they could've cut it down a bit in the middle, and I could've done with a lot less Sebastian Stan and the annoying 'bodyguard', but I did like it.

I remember feeling the same way about the guys on Veronica Mars. At first I couldn't tell Duncan, Logan and Troy apart. Luckily Troy left after a few episodes so there were only two similar-looking white guys left.

I remember reading that apparently the network had a  concern about the similarity between Duncan and Logan, so they came up with a colour code where Duncan would wear blue and Logan would wear earth colours to tell them apart easier

  10. I saw this earlier and I really liked it. Zendaya was my favourite - there was one moment in particular during "This Is Me" when she looks at Zac Efron and directs her lines to him.

I loved the songs, I've had Rewrite the Stars stuck in my head all day

Chastain and Elba were excellent at handling the Sorkin dialogue and just excellent in general.  And I really enjoyed the rest of the cast as well, I thought Chris O'Dowd was especially funny.  I just overall really enjoyed the movie, I thought it was the right mix of funny and dramatic.  And as a side note, I thought the casting was of the young Molly was really good, as the girl looked a lot like Chastain.

Chris O'Dowd - that's who it was. I recognised him but I couldn't place him. I did see a few actors I recognised in small roles Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Justin Kirk (Weeds), Natalie Krill (Wynonna Earp), Brian D'Arcy James.

I liked the film, I like Sorkin's writing and I thought the acting was good - especially the two leads, but I think it was a bit too long.

And yet, she and many other females associated with that show have recently come forward to address how horrible it supposedly was there. That may certainly be the case...but if so, why didn't Sophia (or anyone else) step forward at the time to say something and/or leave? IMO it takes a lot of credibility away from your claims when you're still willing to stick around for your fame and money. OTH made Sophia Bush who she is today, and I'm sure she was well aware of it. She's always going on and on about feminism, standing up for what's right, etc etc....but only from a distance when it can't hurt her. While I certainly don't wish anyone unfavorable working conditions, I'm sick of pampered celebrities feeling "stifled" (as SB actually says in some articles) by TV or movie environments. If that's how they really feel, let them try taking a regular job in a store or an office for a tiny fraction of what they're used to making...then they'll truly know what "stifled" means.

Regarding the OTH situation, this is from the joint statement the cast sent out:

    Quote

Many of us were told, during filming, that coming forward to talk about this culture would result in our show being canceled and hundreds of lovely, qualified, hard-working, and talented people losing their jobs. This is not an appropriate amount of pressure to put on young girls. Many of us since have stayed silent publicly but had very open channels of communication in our friend group and in our industry, because we want Tree Hill to remain the place “where everything’s better and everything’s safe” for our fans; some of whom have said that the show quite literally saved their lives.

They were all young when they started and under contract - Hilarie Burton left when hers was up. The women looked out for each other, warned any new women on the show and tried to protect them. They also said that more than one woman on the show had her career trajectory threatened.

    The whole statement is here:

  13. Yeah I liked this a lot more than I was expecting. Honestly, after seeing the trailer about 500 times (I work at a cinema) I wasn't expecting much, but it was actually quite good. I thought all the actors did well emulating each other as the real version/game character. It had more heart than I thought it would

  14. As I just finished the DCverse Crisis on Earth X crossover I just wanted to say that I hate Felicity so very much. She's most of the reason that I stopped watching the show (killing of Laurel, and Thea not being around was the other reason). And I hate that she and Oliver got married at that moment.

I don't like Lena on Supergirl either

  15. Watched this tonight and I loved it. Amy Adams was great in it - I'm not a huge fan but I liked her here. I liked watching her communicate with the aliens, and their language was very pretty.

I kinda want to watch it again.
