This may have been part of why that scene didn't work for me, now that you guys mention it. Dean went from "I think there's something stuck in my back" to "Nope, there's no use getting help, I'm dead" in a matter of like 5 seconds, and nothing changed. Just one sputter of blood would have gone a long way.

To tell the truth, I've been low-key weepy and melancholy ever since we watched it this afternoon. I think it's because wifey and I have such a strong bond over it, that's been growing stronger for almost a decade now. And now that weekly ritual of watching our favorite show together has ended.
-
I think that I'm happy with this ending in the sense that I can breathe a sigh of relief. I was seriously worried that Dabb would pull some crap that would retroactively ruin the show (even though what he did with Chuck kind of already did). Especially since Jensen apparently had such a problem with it. But as it stands, I'll be happy to re-binge the show someday. Well, maybe up to season 12. The hardest part for me is that is that I don't think the finality has fully hit me. SPN has been a weekly ritual for wifey & I for several years. But of course there have always been natural breaks. What happened yesterday is that another season ended, which is normal. I suspect that when a couple of months pass, and no new cast members are announced, no new plot details arise, no new posts in the "speculation with spoilers" thread are made, etc. it will really start to sink in that's Supernatural is truly over.

And you know the worst part is that they even gave themselves the perfect opportunity to make it important and personal. All they had to do was find a way to make Sam & Dean recognize the vampire Jenny ahead of time (like having them see her on a security cam or something), and have them talk about it being an unfinished case from long ago. Boom, instant connection and added weight to their last case together.

Well, before I get into this thread, let me just organize my thoughts. First of all, it was better than I had anticipated. I'm happy with it. Old school hunt. No overpowered supernatural beings stepping in to do the boys' work. Just the brothers working a case. And even after Dean's death, I appreciate how the rest of the episode focused on the brothers, with the supporting roles of bobby & Sam's son being supportive. LOVED the old school feel of the pie fest, "vampire mimes", John's journal, etc. You guys are going to hate me, but I wasn't really effected by Dean's death scene. I think I'm just numb to it. I was like "...and if you look to your left, you'll see THIS fucking scene again." Poor wifey was bawling though; she did NOT like what they did to Dean! I did like how Dean went out though. Not incompetence, nothing stupid; just an honest heat-of-the-action accident. What did effect me was Sam's depression afterward. I don't know if it's because it was relatable or what. But I did tear up when he kept spacing out, and especially when he didn't even notice the dog trying to get his attention. But then the story moved on, and I pretty much enjoyed the rest of the episode. I liked that Sam named his son Dean, and that they showed that he had an anti-possession tattoo. I especially liked that Bobby added "with Cas' help" when explaining to Dean what Jack did to heaven, because that implies that Jack saved him from the Empty. I would have liked to have seen Eileen, but I'm assuming that' a covid thing. In an ideal world, we would have seen Dean & Sam reunited with Mary & John. Or at least heard Cas use Baby's radio to say "Welcome home, Dean". But overall, I think it could have been much worse. I was okay with that because it was from another episode. I HATED the pop/hip-hop or whatever version that was playing when Dean drove onto the bridge though.

Looks like I'll be singing this to my dog one last time: 🎵 Carry on my wayward pup They'll be treats when you are done Lay your floppy ears to rest Don't you whine no more 🎵

Unfortunately, we got ROKU. So I won't be able to watch it with you guys tonight. Ugh! I'm normally not a tv watcher (that's wifey's department) so I normally couldn't care less that we don't get antenna tv. But tonight it's KILLING ME! The hardest part is going to be resisting sneaking a peek at the forums & groups and spoiling myself. But I've got apple pie and stuff for bacon cheeseburgers for wifey & I while watching it tomorrow afternoon. So I really don't want to spoil tomorrow's experience. Which means in a couple of hours I'm probably going to stay off of social media until we watch it.

Ah, I think I have found the problem: you're looking at it from the perspective of GOOD writing. 😆

I mean you're right about the acting; Jensen's great in it. I guess I was already just too jaded at that point by SPN abusing death for dramatic effect. I remember actually rolling my eyes during that scene.

Are... are we back? Can I resume enjoying these last few hours with my SPN internet fam now?

I get what you're saying, but at the same time the stakes are real this time. I didn't even bat an eye when Metatron killed him at the end of season 9. Cos they'd done it too many times before, and I knew that they weren't going to kill off either of their 2 main leads. But I know that if he dies tonight, it's permanent.

WHAT?? No Ina-Goda-Davida! That's an outrage! 😂

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck

Scoobynatural happened. Oh and the slasher episode. I only remember that one because I say "Time to slice and dice!" all the time now in the kitchen. Oh and regarding Dean, because was actually a real standout episode. Other than that, it's all a blur. -

OMG this is soooo true!! My biggest problem with the show rn isn't the storylines, it's how forgetful it is. I can't remember what happened in an episode 2 days after I watched it! I kid you not, the other day someone on some forum was talking about how good Jenson's voice was when he sang with Christian Kane. And I was like "who's Christian Kane?" And also "when the hell did Dean sing karaoke with another hunter?? That doesn't ring a bell!" So I looked it. I actually looked at screenshots. And still I was like "...yeah I have no idea which episode this was." And I have a really good memory for these kinds of things. Like after last week's montage I said to my wife "OH! THAT'S where I know the female lead for Freaky from. She played Claire!" And my wife was like "Who?" and I responded "Claire. You know. Jimmy's daughter." She didn't remember who Jimmy was until I said "Castiel's Vessel". But anyway my point is y'all are absolutely right about these episodes blending in together. -
I know that it won't happen but I wish that just this once they would spend the cash for a Led Zeppelin song.
