  1. I've read fairly recently that Jim Bob and Michelle are worth $3.5 million dollars. I know it's combined income from the show, speaking engagements, cell phone tower, real estate rental properties, etc. But I don't think he really has anything to worry about, even with his extended family growing. If invested well, they must have a fairly good income from investments alone.

  2. TLC could go ahead and film a special birthday party for Spurgeon something this week for a special episode and then they could do the wedding prep and the wedding the rest of the time. Since Friday is Jessa's birthday, I'm going with next Saturday for the wedding.  Since he's only turning a year old, he won't know the difference. I guess TLC will be pretty busy this upcoming week with all of these events going on.

Someone mentioned upthread that it's not a lot of time to film an episode and get it ready for airing in a few days. But I think that TLC did this when Michelle was having Jordyn- I think they showed a Very Special Episode 4 days after the birth.

  3. Is there any chance the wedding could actually be next Friday night? If it's small enough, that might be doable, except for the folks who have to travel. My husband had to twice take a vacation day from work when 2 of our nieces got married on Friday nights in the last 5 years. One was a church wedding, the other one was a civil ceremony done at the restaurant/banquet hall.

  4. Does anyone have Instagram? I don't, but I read on the Counting On facebook page that someone read that Jinger changed her Instagram to Jinger Vuolo and that Jeremy's Instagram page says that he is married to Jinger. Just wondering if anyone can confirm. It would not surprise me if they're already married.

  5. Wow, I really hope that Joy isn't the next one to get married. She seems very young and sheltered, even more so than Jill was, by the way. She just turned 19, at least her sisters married in their early 20's.

Doesn't seem like Jim Bob is having any luck finding  brides for his sons, for whatever reason. It's eventually going to look like the Arndt household at the rate that they're going (household with 13 boys/men and 1 girl living with their parents, ranging from about 11 to 34 years old). I wonder if that's why they had to have a special episode on the show for Guy's Guide to Courting- they're getting desperate.

  6. In the preview for next week, we are shown a clip that reveals that Randall is gifted and Jack is asking him why he is pretending not to know things. Randall replies that he doesn't want to be different. I'm wondering if possibly Randall went sent to a different school once his parents found out how intelligent he is.

  7. I also think it was 2 homebirths. Joseph and Jinger, if I'm not mistaken. The show talked about how Jinger was born in the one bedroom of the little 3 bedroom house they were living in that was torn down later on. They were living there in the original 14 Kids and counting special. Jim Bob had squandered $100,000 in running for a Senate race that failed instead of using the money to buy his sprawling family a decent sized house.

  8. I don't think the "courtship rules" has worked out well for any of the three married Duggar children. All 3 of the spouses found out that the person that they married was not exactly who they thought they were. The ones that probably got to know each other the best were Ben and Jessa, as others have noted, and since their lives haven't changed as much as the other two, they haven't yet shown the intense stress levels we have seen in both Jill and Anna.

Even though "my generation" (my husband and I got married in 1990) didn't often live together before marriage, and we didn't either, we were lucky enough to have 2 years of getting to really know each other before we married. We were both 25 when we met. My church required premarital counseling and there were a lot of questions that really had both of us thinking about various circumstances, which I have a feeling the Duggars never addressed with their kids.

I hate that the family and their show is glorifying courtship as the superior and holier-than-thou method of preparing for marriage. I'm willing to bet in 20 year's time, there will be at least one or more divorce in their household. Some of the kids will probably live home forever and never marry and will also never be allowed to go out on their own.  I recall reading the Little House books by Laura Ingalls, and even she was allowed to have a "courtship" that didn't involve chaperones and was allowed to go out buggy riding with her husband before marriage. I believe she was 16 and he was 26 when they met. It seemed to work out well as they both lived into their 90's and stayed married. But the Duggars would never admit that any of their methods resulted in failure.

  9. Interesting plot that the showed JJ tricking his caregiver and having his friends help him get drunk. Also, that the parents had to discipline him for the first time ever. I thought it was well done overall. The show's Facebook page had a few negative comments about a teenager getting drunk but I think the show was just trying to focus on how teenagers will break the rules (at least sometimes), and even though he's disabled, JJ isn't any different than other teens in that regard.

  10. I actually liked last night's episode more than last week's. Watching her running the race and then hugging her daughter at the end was pretty cute.

I think Katy is putting on some kind of accent but I'm not sure what it is.

  11. I thought this was the season finale. Wonder if they will end up showing the wedding after all? I still have an inkling that it's already happened, privately, but the Duggars aren't telling us.

50 pages of questions? Geez, who the hell does Jim Bob think he is? And did I understand correctly that Ben did not have to answer said questions? I'm sure he wouldn't have been able to, considering his age and lack of employment when he moved to the Duggar compound.

I'm now thinking of that scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding, where Toula's finance has to be baptized in a wading pool of oily water in the Greek Orthodox church, in order to be allowed to marry her. I wonder what else Jim Bob requires of the grooms? Anything else in regards to the cult of Gothard that they aren't telling us about?

  12. I liked seeing Carl hanging out with Dominique's dad. If Frank had been like he is, Carl would probably be in military school now. Hope he gets to go.

Did I miss something- wasn't Deb's baby named Franny (for Frank), so when did it get switched to Harry (Harriet?).

I hate seeing Vee and Fiona not being friends after all of this time. Hopefully the families can become close again. I think the Svetlana situation is going to eventually implode.

  13. I just found out this show is running again on a channel called Heroes and Legends on Comcast. I remember watching reruns with my dad about 10 years ago when he was retired, it was his favorite show. He really enjoyed the Andy Sipowicz character best of all, even though Andy was far from being a nice guy. The show was always compelling to watch.

  14. Even if the family isn't buying diapers for their own kids (not sure about the grandkids), they're not saving money on car insurance, that's for certain. I don't know how expensive it is in Arkansas, but here in NJ, it cost us an additional $1300 a year to add my then 17 year old son, with his car that was a real junker. He still drives it, a 1993 Toyota Corolla with 182,000 miles, back and forth to community college at 5 miles each way. We have a 22 year old who is also a college student and he drives a 1997 Camry, and my husband and I each have a car around 10 years old- still close to $4000 a year for car insurance, mine is the least expensive for a minivan. I can't imagine what Jim Bob's policy must be, especially if he has to carry comp and collision on them.

  15. Is Counting On definitely returning for a third season? I remember reading somewhere that this was one reason the wedding date hadn't been announced yet, because it wasn't known if the show would be returning. I can't imagine TLC deciding to cancel this after only 2 seasons. Though I think Jim Bob most likely was a strong influence on all of the "kids" to make sure that they appeared on the show, in case it would be their final season.

  16. Did Yvette know both Rebecca and Jack ahead of time? I'm just wondering because she said in her statement that she knew Randall was adopted. Didn't anyone in her group of friends think that maybe Randall was her biological son?

  17. Jana leaving the family to live on her own wouldn't be good for the Duggar brand, and I think all of them realize that. Especially since they're so well known not only in their own circles but also to their television fans. They've preached ad nauseum that their adult kids are under their authority/protection until they marry. Yet it seems that other folks in their same circles aren't quite as strict as the Duggars. Ben's sister Jess comes to mind- I believe she lives on her own in an apartment and has a boyfriend, and is presumably employed as well. Ben is the oldest , isn't he? So she must be around 20 years old. One of Anna's sisters left home to live with with another sister and ended up having a baby without being married.  I can't see Jim Bob recovering from one of his daughters having a baby out of wedlock. Then again, apparently the show didn't suffer too much after what Josh did, the network just chose to remove him from the show completely. I can't imagine how the show would continue if one of their kids was openly rebellious or left the family. They'd have to pretend that said child never existed, as they seem to be doing now with Marjorie.

  18. I just read there is going to be a new series starting in the winter of 2017, called The Blacklist: Redemption. It will star the Tom Keen character as the lead. Does this mean he's leaving this Blacklist show? And how will the stories intertwine from one series to the other? I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

I'm also questioning, why a spinoff at this time?

  19. I did notice that Jill mentioned that Izzy was still nursing on the plane ride home. He was about 15 months old here and I wonder if maybe this is the reason she hasn't yet gotten pregnant yet. I also wonder if she continued nursing because the water supply in CA isn't as clean as it is in the USA and they aren't able to get fresh milk on a regular basis.

  20. I just saw the first episode tonight, from May, and I do agree the parents seems overwhelmed. A few years ago, there was the Jones family from Texas who also had quintuplets and an older daughter. That show only lasted 2 seasons, I believe and it started when the quints were about a year old, I think. I don't blame the parents for signing up with TLC since it's unlikely it will run more than a couple of seasons. The show with the Gosselins was the first one about high order multiples, plus Kate herself was so "out there" , she was the main draw for the show after the first couple of seasons. I really don't see that happening with this family.

I will say though, that looking at their home in the first episode, it looked like a mansion to me (maybe because I'm in NJ and anything that side would easily be over a million dollars). I am also quite surprised that the family didn't have people from their church helping them out with the babies. The Gosselins and other families with multiples had people from the community helping them out for the first 6 to 12 months that the babies were home. Somehow, the Gosselin family also qualified for a full time baby nurse. I saw that some of the quints had breathing problems, so don't they also qualify for home nursing care after being discharged from the hospital?

  21. Is it confirmed that Josh is running a car lot again or is he really flipping/selling cars with a couple of his brothers? If he's living away from the family compound, I guess it's likely that more than half of Arkansas might not even know who he is. They've been on tv for quite awhile now but they were never on a major network so I don't know how recognizable he is to the locals down there.

  22. I'm hoping that Jessa doesn't have twins. She and Ben are going to be overwhelmed the way it is, and if it's two more babies, they'll probably have to move in Joy for the next 6 months after the birth to help out full time. Jim Bob will also have to find another house for them to live in if she does.

That has me wondering, does Jim Bob really have enough money to provide a family home for every one of his 19 kids? They're wealthy but I can't believe he could afford that even on his real estate investments and the TLC paycheck.  Some of their kids will probably never marry and some may stay home for a very long time. I hope we don't see any of them in their 30's still living with their parents, it's bad enough to see Jana and John David at home.
