  1. I wouldn't be brave enough to take all those kids at the age of 18 months on vacation. That said, they probably did the best that they could under the circumstances. I wonder if at some point Danielle should just take Blayke on a little overnight vacation and leave the quints home with Adam.

I've really been wondering about Danielle and her sisters. They all have their own businesses. It hasn't been discussed on the show, but Danielle has her makeup business. Her one sister has the beauty salon. Apparently the 3 husbands all work together in a very lucrative real estate business. Danielle and Adam have $100,000 to invest in a bicycle studio. Yet Mimi is broke. I still have a theory that Danielle's father died and left his daughters quite a bit of money, but Mimi was divorced from him and maybe just got the house she's now trying to sell.

  2. I still really like this show, but I'm sorry to have read that it won't be going beyond 13 episodes. I guess the network doesn't officially call it cancelled, but i guess it's not being renewed. Too bad. Hard to find good comedy on network television, and I personally liked this better than 2 Broke Girls, which has managed to survive into the 6th season now.

  3. I think it was unrealistic to see Helen seducing Max in this episode. What was more realistic to me was the way Nina interacted with Helen.

Martin is definitely troubled, as is Whitney. The whole cast of characters , when you come right  down to it, each has some kind of problem.

Glad we didn't have to see Noah tie up the French professor. I can't believe she even suggested it , has she known Noah longer than a couple of weeks?

I think we're going to see Helen reveal eventually that she was indeed driving the car that night. It did amaze me that she didn't even seem to blink when Nina asked her directly and that she could just lie so easily about it. If Helen doesn't do it, maybe Noah will.

I agree with the poster that says it was a young Noah in the lake. My guess is he felt so guilty for helping his mother die that he tried to drown himself.

  4. In regards to Mimi and her teaching, I was wondering if she decided to sell her house and move to Texas to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. Maybe the producers asked her if she'd like to be a regular on the tv show, so she had to give up her job and house in order to do it. Then the show just sort of made up this storyline of Mimi having to move due to a job loss. Maybe the tv show pays a better salary.

  5. I wonder how the ratings are for this show. It seems like they have a decent following and there are enough interesting storylines to keep it going for at least another season. A few years ago, there was another Texas family that had quintuplets and an older sister (Quints by Surprise) that was cancelled after 2 seasons. Probably not enough drama to keep it going on a regular basis. Maybe the Busbys have found that balance and will stay on the air a little longer than the Jones family did.

As for their lifestyle, it appears Adam does have a very good paying job and Danielle used to work full time plus this side business that she has selling high end makeup/skincare products. Her sister has her own high end hair salon. I'm starting to wonder if maybe her father passed away and left his daughters each quite a bit of money, enough for them to all go into business for themselves. Possibly, he was divorced from Danielle's mom and that's why she doesn't have any money now.

Someone upthread mentioned why the quints are all dressed alike. Other than for tv, I wonder if she really does that all of the time. It would make it easier to spot the girls if they're out in public, especially as they become more mobile. The only downside to this is that they may decide that they want to dress alike all of the time in a year or two and it might be hard to get 5 of the same outfit when shopping. But they will eventually outgrow this, probably long before they are teens.

  6. I wonder at what point does the show end up not getting renewed due to low ratings. However, I'm sure Kate will figure out some way to stay in the spotlight and on tv if she can. Though I don't personally think she has any real talent and she might end up appearing on Oprah's Where are They now in 10 years time.

  7. It hasn't been discussed on the show, but Danielle has some kind of home business selling makeup and beauty products (found this out from seeing her Facebook page). She'd probably like all 5 in the preschool in order to help her not only get a break and catch up on chores but also to focus on her business.

I'm not sure investing $100,000 into a business you don't really know much about is a good idea. My cousin invested $75,000 into a beauty salon and lost it all within 2 years, even with working there full time and not taking a regular salary. I'd be very nervous about borrowing that money against my mortgage.

I suspect that Mimi was either a preschool teacher or teacher's aide. In many districts after 25 years, a teacher can retire and collect a pension. Maybe her previous employer didn't think her performance was as good as it was previously and she was laid off. I don't think we'll find out more to that story. One question I have is : Has Danielle's father been mentioned at all? I don't know if he's deceased or if maybe he's remarried and lives elsewhere.

  8. I read something in an interview with Sarah Treem and she said originally she felt that the Affair would have 3 seasons. She also said something to the effect that in some storylines, they'd painted themselves into a corner. So I'm wondering if this is really going to be the last season. The entire story seems all over the place, especially with introducing the French professor this year.

  9. Is it definitely renewed? I haven't seen confirmation yet by Showtime if it was or not.

Surprised to see Frank talking about having been in college, I don't think we ever heard that before. I didn't think he'd even graduated high school.

The 7 pounds of meth , while an interesting storyline, is not realistic. Monica was an addict, there is no way that she would have been able to save that much of it since she never had a job as far as we know. Even living in the storage locker, where would she get the money? Working as a prostitute would take some time to accumulate $70,000  and sorry, I don't think Monica could earn very much given her age.

I liked seeing Carl is his military uniform, though I'm sure he'd have shorter hair if he was really in military school.

  10. I agree with Bobbin and was thinking that maybe JJ wanted to join the choir just to be a part of the group. Cool that the brothers shared the solo too and funny when Ray realized he had a crush on the teacher.

On a side note, if it hasn't been mentioned already, Micah Fowler actually does play sled hockey, I saw a photo of him and his team. That's where the idea for last week's episode came from.

  11. I just remembered from season 1 where Alison was talking to the police officer and I distinctly remember her saying to him "I'd give anything to find out what happened to him", meaning Scotty. Is it possible that Noah and Helen didn't see Allison at the scene of the accident? I'm going to have to go back and re-watch the first 2 seasons at some point to try to make sense out of it all.

  12. I was wondering about the preschool that they were sending the quints to. I'm guessing they were about 18 months old when this was filmed and all needed to be walking in order to attend this school. The director said it wasn't a daycare center but I'm not familiar with any preschools that have classes for children that young. My kids are both in college and went to one year of preschool at age 4. I didn't see the name of the school listed either.

It was funny watching Adam and his dad putting the playset together. Good Lord, 800 pieces? My husband is pretty handy but I think would have balked at trying to take that on by himself or even with one other guy. It looks like it cost over $4000 too. I must be old since we got our swig set for our kids at a Lowe's and it was probably $300 about 18 years ago. It was medal, had 2 swings, a plastic riding car, slide and monkey bar.

  13. I've been wondering as well why Allison has estranged herself from Noah. I was thinking it was because when she went into the mental hospital, she had no contact with him, and did he even know that she was there, since he himself was in prison? Now that she's trying to get joint custody of Joanie, she must know that if Noah is back with her again, the court would probably deny her custody since Noah went to prison. Just a guess.

Seriously, I don't know why Allison just didn't say that Scotty was attempting to rape her. If she, Helen and Noah had all told the truth, maybe Noah wouldn't have gone to jail. I think Helen might have but if Allison testified that it was self defense on her part, and the car accident was truly that- an accident, possibly no one would have served any time at all.

  14. This show continues to amaze me. I never knew that sled hockey was a sport either, I only remember seeing wheelchair basketball. I thought it was really cool that not only did JJ want to play, that his father made him see that even though he was injured, he still was having a great time playing. That said, I thought face masks would prevent injuries like a broken tooth.

It's nice to see that all of the characters are featured in just about every episode too. Nice to see the storyline of Ray and Dylan wanting privacy and then agreeing to share the space. I'm not sure all teens would be so agreeable about sharing.

Also good to see that Maya appreciates Kenneth after seeing him through other people's eyes. I think she might have been taking him for granted until they went to the CPR class.

  15. Ugh. I kind of feel like introducing a new character's perspective is a waste at this point. I really want to find out why Allison doesn't want to have any contact with Noah anymore, or did I miss something as to why?

Brendan Frasier plays creepy very well. The last movie I remember him in was George of the Jungle since my teen son owns it.

  16. How many more episodes do we have this season? It seemed like a lot of people left to have the loved ones visit- 9 total? Usually it's when there are only about 6 players left.

I'm thinking it has to be either Jay, David or Adam that wins. I'd be really surprised if it's anyone else at this point. Agreed with whoever said upthread that Will is really too young to play. For a show like this, I just feel 21 is about the youngest you can play , since by that time most people have experienced work, school, relationships outside the family, etc. An 18 year old is probably still relatively sheltered .

  17. I liked seeing how well JJ handled the whole situation with the girl he liked, and wasn't terribly upset at the end. Loved seeing his brother be there for him too.

I think it's very hard for his mom to back off but she is realizing more and more that she just needs to step away and let JJ do as much for himself as he can. That includes not spying on him. No parent wants to see their kid get their heart broken but it's something a parent really can't prevent either, especially during the teenage years when kids start dating.

  18. June Squibb, who plays Etta , is 87 years old. Amazing that she's still working at that age.

I think bringing Monica back was a plotline the showrunners wanted to do in case this is the final season. Strange that Monica didn't ask about Carl.

I want Lip to stop drinking and get his shit together, don't want to see him turn into Frank 2.0

This season has been refreshing in seeing Fiona without a love interest and focusing on work. Wish we could see Ian more at work and less with Trevor, the one female co-worker of Ian's is a good partner for him when they're working together.

  19. I think the fact that Alison spent 6 months in a mental institution proves that Alison has been mentally ill since the death of her son, and this is why she acts the way that she does. It makes her character unlikable to a lot of people, unfortunately. I also think her previous behavior of being hypersexual also contributes to her state of mind at the time in which she was acting out. In other words, if she had been in her right mind, she  wouldn't have considered to having an affair with Noah in the first place.

  20. I read that Chrissy Metz said she would never consider gastric bypass surgery, even though her character has announced she plans to do it. I"m hoping that the show doesn't make a big deal about how Kate succeeds or fails in her weight loss. If she doesn't succeed, she'll be devasted. I'd much rather see her focus on something else, like her career or relationship with her family.

I'm really irritated with Rebecca for not telling Randall about his father. Can't imagine keeping that secret all those years. He probably should have been told when he was a child, even if William wasn't around at the time, she should have told him the whole story. Randall would have probably wanted to meet him by the time he was a teenager.
