  1. Where better than a public street? Absolutely deranged the 180 they had Anna and Laura do on Sonny. I can't even process that or this whole Jason thing which makes it even more clear they are out of ideas for him. If they blamed Alex again for a lot of this year in her character I wouldn't squawk.
  2. Also: Kristina howling away at the top of her lungs in the hospital chapel was embarrassing, nasty work. It is mortifying how quickly they have tanked Kate Mansi, who was admirably carrying a lot of the show on her back in the spring-summer under Mulcahey IMO. The character has become utterly unrootable, is still calling her sister's child hers and shrieking through scenes. I think KM can recover but not with this kind of material. I know I'm behind by a couple days but it is amazing how none of Robert and Holly's endless, interminable conversations about their relationship (which honestly feel like poor Tristan is a pull-string toy occasionally interjecting lines) seem to mention the fact that he had to have cheated on Anna in '92. It's terrible. I do think Robert needs to be removed from active story at this point - TR looks terribly feeble, and I hate how they've so wasted his last decade of viability - but to go off with her with this kind of material is just kind of pathetic IMO.
  3. I will give it to the kid playing Rocco: I thought he was mostly mid for awhile but he has brought it for this stuff and is quite good. The best since Hudson West. You could see Genie lighting up having someone young who's actually a talent to work with, even if their scenes were cut to ribbons so we could have more of the Scorpio geriatric reunion tour. Whereas I knew the kid playing Danny was green and weak awhile back, and he remains so. I know Steve had been working with him since he came back and Steve is seasoned enough to be able to teach him physical control; Danny had some emotion in the early scenes but kept grinning through them. Oof. (Also, did Jason really tell Sam's kids about their mother on the bench outside Bobbie's?) Not a tear shed with Carly either. He seemed weeks or months past it. Legit ridiculous that Lulu's kid is grieving harder than Sam's own children. But I rarely expect much from soap kids, especially ones FV hires bc they're cute and then refuses to let go of. It's just embarrassing given GH's history with hiring a lot of good kids in the past. They should level up Rocco in story now, but if I know this show he'll be in backburner city just like Jake. I am ready for Lulu to wake up - I want to see this poor kid happy.
  4. Someone on staff is into them bad. They've chosen the worst possible way to go about it. I've never hated Holly before excepting the monkey virus period, but now with this and foisting more Sasher upon us I'm done. It's just ridiculous.
  5. I agree, but it's still a dramatic story to play.
  6. I've been meh on Holly for many, many years but if I wasn't before this mess will definitely do it. She's a complete buffoon and her daughter is still another useless character who has been on this show way too long, like most of the cast. The term 'veteran' no longer has meaning on GH when the bulk of the ensemble is just people Frank refuses to let go of. It is deranged that both Willow and Sasha (among others) have been on this show the better part of a decade. Even so, Sonny and Jason now feel more irrelevant than ever. When all you've got for them is Sonny with Eva LaRue's chest or somehow plugging him into the latest jewel-hoarding evil baldo plot with Carlo Rota, and Jason taking a week to get involved with Retiree Robert (please, it's time), Holly and Sasher you can tell they're at a total loss. It feels completely alien to those characters. Meanwhile Carly has her exciting new romance with Dayplayer B. Who cares? Carly is salvageable because you can plug her into various stories, but what are Sonny and Jason going to organically do on this canvas? People love to bang on about Lucky but JJ is out here selling and has a lot of ties. What are the Big Two doing? Why can't someone just give me 50K for being mad at them for no reason? Damn, Cody. Buys a lot of oats! Only on this GH would they forego the obvious custody war Alexis (and Drew) would absolutely wage against Jason at this moment.
  7. Sure, find a moderator left on this forum and go ask lol.
  8. I've said this before, it's the same FV/CVE/etc. trajectory as the endless, boring-ass Cyrus, Peter August, Shiloh et al stories. This dude is gonna be around a year from now still looking as profoundly un-menacing as all those folks, still whining about his insomnia and hanging out with his pointless relatives (probably Eva LaRue and kids), vowing revenge on everyone for getting rooked over some jewels like he's Scrooge McDuck on DuckTales. "You'll pay for losing me me precious jewels, Jason Morgan! Arr! Pieces of eight!" How is that scary? It's gonna be November '25 and Jason is still gonna be glaring at this bald menace from across the Metro Court or something mumbling 'he killed Sam, he's gotta pay.' All this over some jewels and he's gonna just keep hanging around? I don't care! Sidwell absolutely did it. That was not coincidence. It's about his pretty diamonds and making people he barely knows pay! That's the kind of high-stakes crime saga this team excels at.
  9. Speaks for itself.
  10. It is totally going to be Sidwell and it is totally boring to me already.
  11. Yeah, he was let go awhile back. I am not mad about Guza being at BTG. Frankly he knows his business well in terms of events and brute force story propulsion, which a new show will need (and which GH could desperately use in some ways). He always had a very specific skillset in the right proportion. He and MVJ also go way back, and in the end it is her show. Also notable that Ron is a BDW only. All the dialogue/scriptwriters are Black.
  12. In case anyone was wondering, ex-GH writers Bob Guza and yes, Ron Carlivati are now both on staff at CBS' new Black-centric soap Beyond the Gates. As the show is the brainchild of longtime GH scribe Michele Val Jean, Guza appears to be her co-HW and Carlivati appears to a breakdown writer. Knowing both MVJ and Guza's work well (they go back together to '96 or so and I believe MVJ came in under Labine), Ron working under them both surprises and amuses me. That's an interesting mix lol.
  13. Totally different regime with a totally different focus from Frank.
  14. I feel like they keep hoping Tuc will turn up lol. His career is too big for that now, though knowing Tuc he probably wouldn't begrudge appearing on a soap from time to time again. He's always been a class act. Admittedly, in another time and place I do actually think Tuc as David would function well as a crossover soap schemer like Marco Dane did on GH in the early '90s, to appear for guest stints. But today the well is so thoroughly poisoned for that at GH by Frank and Ron over the last 12 years that I think it's still a bad idea - characters like David or Blair (or pre-MeToo, Todd) who I wouldn't have minded seeing come in and out for short stories to mix things up now just feel like insult to injury. I'm pretty sure Lucky's hot doctor buddy, Isaiah Gannon, will turn out to be R.J.'s son or something next. No way they gave him that name at random. Oy.
  15. Phil Carey was killed off before his time at OLTL because he refused to go on recurring, IIRC. But there clearly weren't deep hard feelings with the show as he continued to recur off and on as Asa's ghost or in newly-made recordings of Asa for his family up til very shortly before his IRL death a year or two later. I don't like when core elder characters are killed off before the actors if it's avoidable or the actor can still appear. With the Asa thing it mostly worked out (and certainly generated great story) but with Monica I'm of two minds. If Leslie prefers it then sure, kill her off. If not I'd wait, and hope she can potentially do a bit more. I'll admit the now-regular onscreen mentions of Monica being ailing and unwell upstairs are depressing.
  16. Yeah, they have been fairly regular in mentioning Eckert's Bakery and people going there for food since at least the Carlivati years. At that time it was because Ron apparently planned to bring Bill back and have some other Eckerts reappear during the Fluke saga before rewrites, but they've kept on mentioning it since so clearly someone is running it.
  17. Thank you for making me look up that scene again.
  18. It's less about that for me, as a ONS with Robert while gross and character-assassinating could've happened. It's that Holly (like Dominique re: Cody) was onscreen during the entire timeframe, was heavy in frontburner action-packed story and romance for the better part of two years after Robert exited and during that time she was never, ever pregnant.
  19. I think audiences just are out of practice with May-December romances on soaps. When they're done well they work again and again. But that's me. It would be hilarious if Holly's con is revealed simply because apparently no one left on the show remembers 1992. One day Mac or Felicia goes 'hey, wait a second...'
  20. "Whiiite diaaamondddsss!"
  21. Oh God, I forgot that stupid shit.
  22. Oh, there were plenty of issues with the Balkan and Manny a.k.a. the Latino Jason Voorhees (I still have no idea what happened to him or his priest twin!). But they had very compelling, fearsome actors in the roles - Daniel Benzali was touted as a big get from his Murder One days - and the larger storylines never felt quite so rinky-dink to me. There were clearly plans in place with the Balkan, even when it got OTT, stupid and went on way too long. And Manny's storylines were idiotic but LoSardo was scary. The gothic incest shenanigans with the Zaccharas made Anthony and Claudia a real threat IMO, at least at first before Anthony became a total joke. Whereas almost all FV, CVE, etc.'s mob stories feel like kids trying to write serious crime storylines except they hire these goofy people who aren't convincing and they all have these very strange or weird afterschool TV motives. Cyrus is supposed to be a badass but spends his days whining about Laura, weeping about whether or not he ran over Dad in the driveway with the family Buick, looking like he's two steps from the rest home and then playing evangelist. Sidwell is just a guy who likes fast women, pretty jewels and losing at cards. Who cares?
  23. Many of Guza's villains became interchangeable and cartoonish after a point, but most at least had some gravitas plus the longtime writing corps dating back to the '90s backing them up with some menace. Whereas all these randos FV brings on to play mob or superspy are so lame and unconvincing to me. Sure, I liked Carlo Rota on 24 decades ago but he was comic relief and it got old. He is not intimidating on this show and I know we're going to be stuck with a minimum of another 6-12 months of Sidwell follies just like Cyrus, Heather, Peter, etc. because FV and his writers never know how to let anyone they take a shine to go. Ava could put them all to shame when she's on her game, which she once again is not of late because they want to keep her super-viable. On another note, I am echoing others but it is absolutely wild Sam and Jason got no real farewell scene - him tagged onto her scene with Drew re: parental logistics, their standing feet apart while she and Drew embraced. I detested Jasam but that's crazy. Oh: And I do think they are potentially going there with Cody and Tracy, finally; another thing I suspect Mulcahey was setting up in spring-summer. But while I was all for it then I don't trust this team to do it right at all.
  24. Yes. But it's obvious whatever they planned there did not happen. I've said before I wonder how GM would've handled the Spencer recast and I still think it's impossible to know since he is basically playing a grinning Disney greeter as poor Gio. I think FV remains deeply uncomfortable pairing Trina with another white dude and that's part of why they won't touch Spencer, hence why Which I have no problem with except that all characters of color on this show are getting marginal story when they've deserved better, or they stick to C-story for no-hopers like Jordan and Curtis and call that representation. In other news: Dr. Terry continues to fail to convince me she did not simply study all these medical terms on Duolingo last night. She sounds like she is greeting at Benihana when she rattles off this stuff, or like a sniper has his sights trained at her head. And she's out here with Lucky and Laura like ‘let’s burn your dying daughter in effigy now, why wait?’ Like she wants to throw her in the KFC roaster right now! They are obviously pinning all these medical mishaps on Carlo Rota a.k.a. Sidwell, the insomniac jewel buffoon who can't play cards, out for revenge. Another deeply threatening jack-of-all-trades villain from the crew that brought you creaky Cyrus "I Ran Over Dad in the Driveway! 😭" Renault, Peter August and of course Valentin. I can't wait to still be seeing more of him blustering his way through boring scenes a year from now while Frank has added Sidwell's son, daughter, ex-wife and presumably Natalia is his first wife or something. Then we'll all get to endure 50 overhyped tweets on the GH hashtag about how much 26 people with too much time on their hands are enjoying the 'Sidwell-Ramirez family.' I am so tired. Also, I'm sorry, Van Hansis is doing a decent job but his hair looks like a rug.
  25. Beyond deranged they are trying to put this '92 thing over with Robert and Holly. She was onscreen and frontburner for like a year and a half, the entire timeframe in which Holly could've carried Robert's child. She was having globetrotting adventures and romancing Mac and Bill! It's just idiotic.
