If anything, it's them making a joke that a likely fairly wealthy spokesperson is trying to wiggle out of paying for a pizza (while simultaneously free-loading cable in their showcase).

I would have preferred to see something ala Fast Times at Ridgemont High, where the person ordering pays and the pizza Is all taken by the surrounding people.

Was there ever an episode where he admired someone who wasn't a physicist?

"The Great and Powerful Woz", Stan Lee, and George Lucas (even though he considers his work disappointing). Probably any Star Trek or Star Wars actor who hasn't offended him, based on the few we've seen.

I do find the idea of a child president, who screams and whines when they dont get what they want, and deciding that anyone who disagrees with them is treasonous and un-American and expects total loyalty, even over stupid things, is certainly topical 🙂

Isn't a politically-biased topical story going to be seen as dated relatively quickly (compared with the original TZ)?

As does the large DNA model, considering Sheldon's opinion of biologists.

There was a S1 episode where Sheldon was building his idea of what DNA would look like in a silicon-based life form, so he has an interest in the science, even though he doesn't value it as a career. There are probably very few occupations other than his own that he respects.

He's comparing apples to oranges (nearing aids and TVs are two totally different technologies) and has no concept of economics; virtually ever household has multiple TV while the demand for hearing aids is far lower,     More production volume = lower cost.

It's also more difficult to make something smaller, especially if it has a mechanical component, like hearing aids do. Along with everything else, he says it cost "ten times less". I wouldn't be surprised if his doctor was padding the price just to have to deal with this guy.

    It sucked.

In fairness, I don't recall the movies featuring the original cast being very good either. There weren't enough gags in the series to stretch a story out to movie-length.

They did a remake of Get Smart? Is nothing sacred these days?

It appears they did a direct-to-DVD spinoff too, with brief appearances by Anne Hathaway and Patrick, but focusing on other agents (presumably played by cheaper actors).

There is nothing new in Who, merely new takes on old themes.

I think this hits the point of contention. Whether something is new, or a different take on something old, can be a matter of opinion, depending on how narrowly or broadly you're categorizing what was done. Although, even if it was done before, it doesn't necessarily mean it would work as well decades later, with a new viewership, and new Doctor.

Howard has a good degree and holds a job of some sort, I am not sure what that job is. He has been to space but we have never heard of him being promoted at his job or advancing in any real way

Howard is an engineer, and based on the types of things for which he's been responsible, he's at the top of his profession. To "advance" he'd have to leave what he likes doing, although he could probably make more money if he left the university for a job at a big company.

I don't understand why anyone would complain about a time travel story this season as if it were a new thing for the show, because it really isn't.

The Doctor is known for meddling, not being part of history as we know it. It's tough to write the latter well; Quantum Leap managed it by hiding what was really going on.

He and Penny once sang it "in the round."  I think it was an early episode when she threw her shoulder out while in the tub.  He took her to the hospital and then tucked her into bed when they got home.  I'm pretty sure it was that episode.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes, The Adhesive Duck Deficiency. TBS just reran it the night before last,

Somehow I thought that Mrs Davis had been moved (promoted?) from HR, perhaps to a dean or some other academic position.   No?

She became Dean of HR. From what we've seen, it looks like it was just a title change with a higher salary, rather than actually moving up within the organization.

The mother awakens, and tells Alexa to turn on the outside lights and she joins her.

In the version I've been seeing, the ad ends without the mother leaving her bedroom. I noticed that the kid is still kicking the ball into darkness because the lights don't shine very far. I guess its a neat feature that if you whisper to Alexa, it'll whisper back, but you can control lights with a smartphone without saying a word.

So turning on the outdoor light with the help of Alexa somehow translates into love for your sports-obsessed daughter that you can't relate to?   We live in a sad world.

You mean because she's too lazy to even go turn on a light switch, much less go out and see how she can help her daughter practice (or talk her into going to bed)?
