I did in that Carol shouldn’t be dealing with that kind of stress while trying to push a baby out. But otherwise, yeah, how about telling Susan to dial the misandry down just a tad, Carol? I really think she should’ve been reigning Susan in a bit, that kind of constant open hostility to Ross was completely uncalled for.

I don’t feel like Dermot Mulroney counts as a love interest, as he was a rather obvious 2-3 episode stuntcast, just like Bruce Willis doesn’t count, nor does Elle Macpherson for Joey. The only stuntcast love interest that counts is Tom Selleck, because he was there for a longer period of time.

If I remember correctly, Frank marrying Alice was supposed to be the last we ever saw of them. They had no intention of following up on them until Lisa Kudrow’s pregnancy gave the show runners a need to write it in. Rather creatively.

Yeah, I was always kind of miffed that Rachel never got a single love interest that could be considered a real long term possibility, while Ross had several. Tag was the best she got. The rest were complete punch lines, i.e. the skittish divorced guy, Joshuaaaah, and the sister-lover. Not to mention Russ, Ross’s doppelgänger.

Well, in defense of Burrows, this is an excerpt from his memoires, so I’m sure the topic isn’t very big in comparison to everything else. Not to mention, I’m sure he gets asked about the abrupt Emily departure a lot, so he decided to say why.

Rachel being spoiled and self centered but still nice is something that they did well to establish, even in the flashbacks. There aren’t very many popular cheerleaders who would be friends with Monica in high school.

The stupidest part of the prom video episode is that Rachel forgets all about the degrading list that made her not want to date Ross in the first place. It’s “phalange,” it means finger or toe. I have no idea why Phoebe was obsessed with fingers/toes.

Fine, but I think Carol’s issue here was Ross flat out lying to her about why he and Rachel broke up just to get sympathy. Particularly since she was trying to make an anniversary dinner for herself and Susan and he wouldn’t leave and ate all the food.

Meh, that was the rest of the Friends fault anyway for letting Ross and Rachel play them up the middle like that. I’d have been telling them to piss off until they learn to behave themselves. Also, more negative points to Ross for trying to get Carol’s sympathy by telling her that Rachel dumped him to be with Mark.

Yeah, my thing with Ross in this whole incident isn’t really about him sleeping with the copy girl, it’s all the stuff before and after. He was completely irrational and smothering to Rachel, not listening at all when she was trying to tell him to back off, to which she had no choice but to dump his ass. And then afterwards, he runs all over town trying to shut down the copy girl sex news. You can’t suddenly switch from the low road to the high road, it’s not a good look. Don’t try and cover up your actions and then when busted, double down with exclaiming that you had every right to do it. Either own it from the start or grovel, you can’t have it both ways.

This twigs me every time I see it but, holy shit, Ross, that story about how you jammed a stick in the front wheel of Monica’s bicycle, she flipped over the handlebars and hit her head on the curb (and doesn’t remember this) isn’t a cute reminiscing childhood story, it’s the time you almost killed your sister.
