  1. The newest episode-Left Hand Man-The couple from Canada-have the house listed on Air BNB. I wonder if it was just an investment to them? I was looking on Realtor at homes in Laurel-there are still some to be had for under $100,000.
  2. My daughter and her family just moved back to Wisconsin from Eagle River AK. They both worked in Anchorage. ER is very close to Anchorage. The ER schools are part of the Anchorage School District. Where my daughter worked in Anchorage it was 20 minutes away from ER. The bad part-there is only one way in and out so if there was a traffic accident or someone hit a moose it took a lot longer. A few years ago there was a major Earthquake and it took my daughter 6 hours to get home. ER is a nice area. The base is right outside ER so a lot of military families. My daughter was not military just wanted an adventure. But the schools and neighborhoods are transient with a high every 2 year military turnover. They moved back because of the high cost of living, the distance from the lower 48 and the poor school system. My youngest 2 grandkids have some special needs and the school could not meet them. They have thrived since being back here.
  3. Barb is a friend of mine. So I was pulling for her. She sends out the best Christmas cards and I can't wait to see the one she puts out this year.
  4. We also have holding tanks so the waste water goes into the holding tanks. We had them pumped a few months ago. We can still use water. If it completely fails it possibly would back up into the house. We should be fine until they replace it. Luckily the mound is in the back of our property. Every once in awhile-when I am outside hanging laundry I smell it. We have been using Scot's single ply for years. I hate it but it saves the holding tanks from clogging.
  5. We built our house 15 years ago. We have a mound septic and a well. We went deep with our well. Water is fine and we never run out. Last summer our septic system failed. We have to replace it. It will cost us 13,000. The county condemned it. We contracted last fall to have it replaced. We live in Wisconsin so they won't do it in winter. So hopefully in the next few weeks. We have the 2nd newest house in the subdivision. The 1st to have to replace it. Two people. We use single ply toilet paper. Nothing else goes down there. The septic guy thinks the original install did not drill big enough holes and did not set it on enough rock. Our daughter is buying our house next summer. Hopefully the new one last longer. Our county requires us to pump every 3 years.
  6. If you follow Erin on Instagram she did say the other Lion was left out in the shed. So it is still on the property.
  7. I work from home as an on-line tutor. My desk is in the corner of our bedroom. If no one is home-I sometimes sit at the kitchen table for a different view. My daughter and her family live with us so we have no empty bedrooms. We have a living room and family room. My daughter has her office in the family room. We make it all work.
  8. The Chicago couple. He said he fell down the stairs in the new home. And all I could think of...you were a cop? How did you go up and down steps in an apartment and not fall. I did not hear he had 25 years in. I pegged him to be in his mid 30s. He looked better in his photo when he was an artist. The facial hair gave his face more character.
  9. On Andy Griffith, Opie was always excited when they had company-he got to sleep on the ironing board.
  10. Both shows yesterday Oklahoma and Boca. I get so sick of hearing people say they want an impressive/grand house. Honestly, I don't care what anyone thinks of my house. I like it and it fits our lifestyle. In all honesty I did not care for any of the houses either couple were looking at.
  11. She grew up next door to my cousin. She is good friends with my cousin's daughter. The daughter posted a Christmas gathering at their house so I knew which house they pick. Ironically-I grew up with her mom in Roger Park-Chicago. And her dad and I went to college together-he played in the MLB for a few years. They have been married for 9 years.
  12. I was more amused when they said he worked for a major sports team and wouldn't say who - they are in Appleton, it has to be the Packers, right? but they sure as heck didn't like each other. I am 90 minutes from Appleton. We do our big shopping there once a month. Sports teams could also be semi-pro. Appleton has that in baseball.
  13. Sarah moved back the US last month. They are in Ohio. I was checking out her Instagram account.
  14. I grew up in Chicago-Rogers Park. Also in a 4 square. I know where this house is. I loved growing up with Lake Michigan as my playground. Made me homesick. It was a good choice for them.
  15. When I looked up the lady from Nice, in 2019 she formed a partnership in LA. She is looking to pick up clients in France that are ex-pats. I thought opposites attract-he is very affectionate-she is not. With the kids being older he could go back to work but I guess they want to be free to fly overseas. That bedroom was hideous for the kids even if they could have something between the beds for privacy. They are to old for that closeness.
  16. He was the florist delivering the flowers. That is how he easily got in.
  17. I also thought the realtor was a friend. His Ex was his landlord. I am originally from Chicago and grew up next to Evanston. I knew the 1st one was too far away from where he was living.
  18. Eden Scher was 18 when she started playing Sue Heck on The Middle. Sue was still in Middle school-so she was playing a 13 or 14 yr old. Anson Williams was born in 1949-in 1974 he played a teen age Potsie Weber on Happy Days.
  19. When we got married in the 70s the rule was your rent should not be more then 1 weeks pay. I remember our rent in Chicago was about $5 more then we made in a week and people told us we were crazy to spend that much on rent. Our school system starts out at about $16 and caps them at $25. Maybe in a larger city they make more.
  20. I creeped on their Facebook page. He went to bed, dad checked him in the middle of the night he was fine. Found him in his bed the next morning. They said Medical Examiner said he was healthy. I guess one of those things that you will never understand why it happens. They are very Christian which might have helped them get through this tragedy.
  21. Milwaukee mom. I live right outside of Wausau. Milwaukee is 3 hours away. They split custody 50/50. So are the kids going to school one week in Wausau the next week in Milwaukee? I knew it was the 2nd house when I saw all the boxes in the one room. She was determined to date and have a man. Wow.
  22. Personally I am glad for the time jump. I want to see Conrad move forward. He will always carry Nic in his heart but it will be good to see the old Conrad back.
  23. I laughed when they missed the Maud answer and Mayim said "What is Maud". I was reading about Ken Jennings first appearance on Jeopardy. For his final answer he wrote "Who is Jones" for the question... on the Olympics. Alex clarified the last name only was fine since there were not that many female athletes. And here we have how many years later... people complaining when Matt did it.
  24. London....I was waiting for her to say she also wanted to meet Mary Poppins. The one street did remind me of the movie. Ah these crazy kids and their dreams.
  25. When my kids were 10 and 4 we left Chicago to live in the country in Wisconsin. We started out on 5 acres but then we went bigger. This was 30 years ago. My kids absolutely loved living out in the country. They would play outside all day. They would skate on the pond in winter. They made friends that lived about 3 miles away. They would bike over there when it was nice. Otherwise we drove them. They were very involved in school sports. We car pooled. Thirty years later my daughter lives in Alaska. They are looking to move to a more rural area. My son stayed right down the road from us. As a kid in Chicago I always wanted a rural life. I was glad my kids had the chance. When we 1st moved here DH still worked in Chicago. He would leave Monday afternoon and come home on Friday night. We were fine alone.
