Fraser might be feeling like he is not doing a good job and needs to blame someone for his lack of skill, Barbie is good at her job and he is jealous, maybe?

I don't think he's jealous, but I'm getting the impression he's taking his cue from Captain Sandy, and is reading insubordination into whatever Barbie says. Considering the problems he had with Camille and Alissa I think he just automatically projected that onto Barbie the first time she ever said anything that could be interpreted as insubordination. Remember Sandy fired Alissa for saying "Sandy I mean Captain Sandy." Also Sandy tends to coddle the baby birds the same way Fraser coddled Cat. I wonder if after last season Sandy pulled him aside and instructed him on how to behave, because I'm getting serious Sandy vibes from him now.

On a different note, it's hilarious all the girls are in agreement that Dylan should keep his mouth shut because he's so cringe.

There is no philosophic reason why these people are ghosts other than it is a TV show and the writers created them as such.

There is one thing they all have in common, which is that none of them died from natural causes. Unless you consider dysentery a natural cause, in which case you could say none of them died from old age. Their lives were all cut short for one reason or another.

  3. Team Barbie, 100%. She is absolutely right, she cannot win with Fraser. If she complains, he shuts her down and criticizes her. If she keeps her mouth shut, he keeps commenting on her being quiet.

I don't know what Fraser's problem is, but between the way he coddled Cat and the way he took an instant disliking to Barbie I think he's a terrible judge of character. He's a shit manager, that much is certain. Unloading on Paris before she's even gotten onto the boat is so unprofessional.

When Ben, who's banging one of his deckhands, has to give you leadership advice, you know it's bad.

Exactly. Speaking of Ben, the optics are going to be terrible whether he promotes Dylan or Sunny to Lead. He should not be banging one of his deckhands.

The editing on this show is so random. The main story at the top was the dinner disaster, so why cut away to a random conversation between Ben and Dylan about how Dylan likes to pick up girls?

The chef just really isn't cut out for this line of work. He seems to be a very fine cook and would probably be OK in a restaurant with lots of help but being a lone chef on a luxury yacht with demanding guests is a special talent he just doesn't have. I think someone with more experience would have figured out something everyone could eat regardless of specific restrictions. He just tried to do too many things.

I still don't get why breakfast can't be a simple buffet with fresh fruit, pastries, etc. That's the way the "toffs" are served breakfast in their mansions. I know, I've seen Downton Abbey.

I wouldn't compare Carol and Elias. Carol was a loving mother and grandmother.

I didn't suggest Carol might "go down" because she's as bad as Elias. I suggested she might develop the hots for him and follow him down there, if he ever returns for any reason.

Also? I don't think we ever saw enough of Carol's life to judge how good a mother and grandmother she was. She was a terrible wife. Yes, she was at least present for her daughter and grandson, but let's not start handing out gold stars just yet. Even in death she has already cheated on Pete with Thor, after letting Pete think they were back together. I think she's kind of horrible.

I can see I'm in the minority here, but it's 1969.  Trixie has a job with long, odd hours.   She's not working 1 or 2 days a week.  She has a young baby and husband.  Apparently, he's under a lot stress.   She needs to spend more time at home.

Surely they discussed whether Trixie would continue to work before they got married? It just seems so odd to me that she's working full time. I agree, that in 1969, Matthew would automatically expect Trixie to prioritize their home and child. Even with a nanny.

I'm surprised more people weren't watching the launch. Everyone was gathered for the landing but only two people were watching the launch.

I never think about the cut scenes; I don't notice them until I read about them here.

I felt like there had to be something missing with Fred and Violet when he was complaining to Sister Monica Joan. Also totally missed that Nancy was raised in an orphanage. Didn't remember any backstory for her at all.

So, Norelle and Joyce appear to be the only two regular pupil midwives. Because when they showed four of them at the beginning of the episode, the other two were different than the ones last week. Weird. Why not just have those two?

They're easily the two weakest teams left, while Ricky & Cesar, Amber & Vinny, Angie & Danny, Rod & Leticia, Juan & Shane, Derek & Shelisa, and Yvonne & Melissa just seem so much better-suited for the race.

I would argue Angie is not long for this race. They got a lucky break this leg because Danny was able to breeze through both the puzzle detour and the roadblock, which was another sort of puzzle.

I think Amber and Vinny might be in trouble too, she just doesn't seem to have the right attitude for the race.

I think it has more to do with the ghost's willingness to change. Elias stated he was not going to change and would never change. Carol does not act like a person who wants to change; she is just as unkind and selfish as she was when she was living when she married Pete. Granted, she just arrived, but she has that pompousness and conniving that Elias had.

I've been saying since she died that Carol and Elias might make a good couple. Maybe that's how she'll exit - not as a form of punishment or banishment, but because she develops the hots for Elias and follows him down, after he returns for some reason.

Now, to be fair, when I pulled up the information description on my tv guide it said that the killer's plastic surgeon was going to be interviewed this time which would have been some new content to add to the original episode but it wasn't enough to get me to tune in.

Oh, was that the "new" information? I wondered. And it was probably something that wound up on the cutting room floor the first time they aired the episode, having been deemed irrelevant.

  9. "The night time stopped" was not a new episode, despite what my DVR thinks. It wasn't even a particularly interesting episode, as it became obvious very early on who murdered Moriah Wilson and why. The bulk of the episode was spent on the manhunt for her killer.

The only thing I found sort of interesting is that the friend with the podcast and the boyfriend whose girlfriend killed her had the same last name - Strickland. And the friend who found her body was named Caitlin and the girl who killed her was named Kaitlin.

I think Thor has talked about a lot of other acts of killing that he enjoyed for reasons that had no redeeming value. I just can't think of anything specific at the moment.

Cutting off the head of a Dane, filling the skull with something I can't remember and sending it to the Dane's wife. "Very funny." Yes - Thor was a stone-cold murderer. He talks about killing all the time and it's mostly played for laughs. Meanwhile, the worst thing Pete ever did was build a deck without a proper permit. So I don't think their actions in life determine whether they become "stuck" as ghosts or not. In fact it seems more like it might have something to do with the property, like maybe it's cursed or something. The only person to die there who didn't become a ghost was Great Aunt Sophie who died in the pilot. It might be that if you die there from anything other than old age, you're stuck. All of the ghosts died of unnatural causes, so far as we know.

The scene where Pete was sucking on the candy in Carol's finger was just . . . so wrong.

Was Pedestrianism an actual sport at one time? This is the second time Hetty has brought it up.

When Thor started to get specific about sex with Carol he said "First we start off with backwards ram . . . " I don't even want to know.

No, he doesn't write it, but if he tells TPTB that he's not 100% up to doing the more difficult scenes that require stuntwork, then they'll probably write him less strenuous scenes.

Did he tell the writers he's not up to talking? Because that was my point. All he did was stare and glare suspiciously at whoever was explaining something.

  12. I see they have tweaked the format a bit. They now spend the entire first segment on Group Chat, then do Hashtag Wars after the first commercial break and after the talk show portion. That means one less game overall, which is probably for the best, since some of them don't really work very well.

That said, they spent FAR too much time on the talk show portion in the last episode. The comics were just sucking all the oxygen out of the room, especially London. She needed to dial it down from 11 to about 9.

  13. There's a reason so many fans have been shipping Buck and Eddie, aside from the fact that they are two good looking guys. There just seemed to be something there. Maybe, at first, it was a case of fans just reading too much into it. And then it seemed like maybe the writers were leaning into it just to troll the shippers.

So it's a happy surprise, to me, the show decided to do something with all the speculation and shipping because it sort of legitimizes what fans have been interpreting. It shows respect for the audience.

  14. I don't know how it even got a second season, the show was a narrative mess that didn't seem to understand the concept or what the audience would be more interested in. The leap stories played liked an obligatory afterthought in most cases and only served as metaphors for Ben and Addison's relationship angst.

There's a trend in TV to remake older fantasy/sci-fi shows darker, grittier and more dramatic than they originally were, sucking all of the fun out of them. This one followed suit and really missed the mark when it came to what people loved about the original.

I'm just sorry we never got a Bakula/Sam cameo.

I'd like to think Scott Bakula knew enough about the show to realize it wasn't worth trying to legitimize as a continuation of his show by associating himself with it.

I would like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not. The way it ended seemed like a good place to end IMO.  Ben and Addison can continue to leap around together.

Making the Ben and Addison relationship the focus of the show was always the main problem, and the show never seemed to understand that. The finale just proves they didn't get it and far from ever fixing it they just kept doubling down on it.

The show is taking a very shallow approach to Carol's death, one that's purely for the gags, and it's rather disappointing.

Well, it is a sitcom after all. But I have faith that the writers have something more in mind for Carol, she's not just going to hit the same beat over and over again, because I don't think she's around for the long haul. And we haven't really seen enough of her (in life) to judge what kind of person she is, she only appeared in two episodes before she died. We also know from Pete's flashbacks she was sort of a harridan, and was definitely a bride-zilla during her daughter's wedding planning. So I think it's a stretch to say they've "re-written" her to be a different kind of character.

I love Buck and Eddie as best friends but I've never shipped them as a couple. I don't get it why so many people do  ( . . . . )must admit Tommy seems like a decent character, a lot better than a death doula, but still I don't want them to go that route. I think it's out of character for Buck.

I understand how you feel, because in general I do not like it when shows take a character that has been introduced as straight and then throws them into a same-sex relationship. (They do this constantly on Grey's Anatomy - I swear every single female character on that show is sexually fluid). It's the type of thing that reinforces the misguided belief that people "choose" their sexuality.

However, in this case, Buck and Eddie are not turning into a couple (as yet) so their relationship as close friends remains unchanged. And I think Buck admitting that he's crushing on this other dude validates what a lot of fans have been reading into his and Eddie's relationship, like it's actually possible there's something more to it, and it's not just the writers trolling the shippers. Which is more than I ever expected from this show, to be honest.

My theory is that Taylor's leave last season was health related and he's not 100% yet. Might explain why he's seemed so 'off' this season.

Taylor doesn't write the scripts. It's like every scene he was in went like this: Someone talks, meanwhile Severide stares, silently and dubiously. Someone talks, meanwhile Severide stares, silently and dubiously. Someone talks, meanwhile Severide stares, silently and dubiously.

That was the whole show with him.

  19. The kid playing Young Trevor in the flashback was perfect casting. I love that Trevor was already doing "T-Money" when he was a kid.

I was shocked when Pete actually punched Thor. Did you see Alberta's reaction? I think this is the second time Pete turned her on a little bit.

I think I'm just mostly happy that the baiting I thought was happening here was actually REAL. Sure, it's no Buck/Eddie, but Buck/Tommy works just as well. I do think, now that they've opened the door, they COULD go there with Buck/Eddie eventually.

The funny thing is, the years of baiting actually paid off, because the entire episode read like Buck was jealous that Eddie was hanging around with someone other than him. But all along, it turns out he was crushing on Tommy and jealous that Eddie was spending time with him instead. Nice switcheroo.

I don't know they'd ever go there with Eddie and Buck, it feels maybe a little too fan-servicey. But it definitely gives weight to the idea that maybe Buck had deeper feelings for Eddie all along which is why we all read it that way for years.

When Athena heard the noise in the house, I was surprised she didn't pull a gun out of the drawer when she got out of the bed.

Yes! Athena could easily have been the story of the mother who shoots her own son! It was so dumb of Harry to come into the house unannounced and unexpected while everyone was asleep upstairs, knowing his mother was a cop with a gun. Especially since its been so long since she's seen him she might not even recognize him.

  21. This was a really good episode! Some of this season has been rather lackluster, I have to admit, and I was getting worried they were losing it. But this one had a lot of great laughs, especially Isaac learning about dinosaurs, and Hetty recounting the time she crushed a footman to death with her steamer trunk. "You really have to scrape the footman off right away."

This one deserves a re-watch for sure, there were too many great lines to remember.

  22. I don't know where they're going with the new EMT. She did really well with the kid with the gun, and she seems to know what she's doing on the job, and isn't undermining Violet like that last guy. But she's pretty man-hungry. Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that, but maybe don't go fishing for hookups at work on Day 1, y'know? Or brag about hooking up with a married man. She doesn't seem to have any filter or boundaries.

I'm really bored with Severide The Fire Detective. He spent the whole episode looking at people like he was constipated. His patented "distrustful" look.

  23. Wow. The show has been trolling the audience with Buck and Eddy for years but I never once thought they would actually go there with either of them. Yet this whole jealousy bit was like trolling on top of trolling and when Tommy came to Buck's apartment that whole conversation read like a romantic scene, I was actually kind of laughing about how ridiculous it was and then shocked they actually went there. At first I thought Tommy just got the wrong idea but then it turned out Buck was all about it. Mind, blown.

One thing I don't get is that when Tommy showed up last week, it seemed like Hen knew him from somewhere, but have we ever seen him before?

I can’t tell.  Is that the same actor who played Harry before or a new actor?

I don't think it's the same kid, but imdb doesn't have him listed yet.

So, one drawback to moving the show to ABC: a Bachelor cross-over.

The part with the mom who shot her own son was really sad.

I don't know anything about the show itself or the actress/character. It could have been any show they were promoting. The problem is that The Amazing Race is a very visual show. This isn't the show you want to have something pop up and cover the bottom of the screen constantly.
