  1. I've actually watched two seasons of it, and yeah, I don't like it a lot. Gordon annoys me and it's too much about the drama and the yelling and the contestants badmouthing each other. (They're very hammy, like you said. 😄) Same with Masterchef Canada. The Finnish version I find too slow and tedious. MCAU is the perfect middle road. I was hoping for Derek to win the pin, but as soon as he said he was going to make a dome, I knew he wouldn't. The other two dishes I thought looked yummy.
  2. To me they're very articulate and quite non-reserved, but then, I'm a Finn. 😄 Take it down like seven notches from where MCAU is, and you have MC Finland (or any other reality show with a Finnish cast).
  3. I wouldn't like to call that a shock elimination - mostly because it is a term that I feverishly hate -, but since I was personally a bit shocked, I guess I'm gonna call it that anyway. Hmm. Yep. Was surprised. Exactly, and what can a girl trust in this world anymore if not that?? I died. 😄 I'm officially gonna call him Blokey from now on.
  4. I thought the same... There was an article in Sydney Morning Herald that said: "In 2018 executive producer Marty Benson decided to give a little tweak to the Mystery Box challenge. Then at the end of last year he thought, well, Shannon Bennett has been the resident “mentor” on the show for four years. The longest anyone had been in the role. “It felt like that was an area we could refresh,” Benson says. Problem was, there aren’t many chefs better than Shannon Bennett in Australia. The other thing that happened in 2018, though, is that the show marked its 10th anniversary and celebrated by bringing back a bunch of beloved former contestants – much to the delight of long-time fans. “So it was staring us in the face,” Benson says. “We should have past contestants. But one past contestant? Over Shannon Bennett? It didn’t really make sense. So we thought, 'How about we get a crack team of past contestants that are popular with the viewers, have a wide range of skills and kind of cover all seasons?'”" Dunno… to me, that sounds like a case of "let's try and fix stuff that isn't broken".
  5. I can't but laugh at the orgasmic ooh's and aah's emanating from the balcony every time Curtis does anything. Of course Tim won. Although I technically like him, I'm already kind of tired of him a little bit, and this is only ep 4! Edit: Also, am I to believe that the other dishes were such diasters that the sugar in the Bearnaise sauce meant nothing? Oh well.
  6. Agreed, only that my life is a big giant dumpster fire right now, so what better way to ignore it than watch mind-numbing TV? Unfortunately that seems to be the case. 😞
  7. Or maybe he'll actually properly flip his lid this time when Gary wins the chef vs. chef challenge again, and hi-jinks will ensue. IIRC, it was kinda going that way last year. One can only hope, I guess. I've only watched the show from season 6 onwards, so the general whimsical-ness (whimsy?) is still there for me. I'm excited! Derek seems likable. AMEN.
  8. Is Ru going blind as she's getting older? SILKY'S RUNWAY WAS TERRIBLE. Ughhh, why am I not as excited about this show as I once was (and not even that long ago)?? I WANT to be! [whines like a baby] Can't say it's gotten worse, since it hasn't really changed. Maybe it's just me. Or an over-abundance of the show. Or this cast, that just isn't all that inspiring (which was further proved by this episode).
  9. I've had nine months to get over the debacle that was the ending of the last season. I'm over it. Maybe. I hope they keep Gordon off my telly this year.
  10. I was pleasantly surprised to notice a Eurovision board here! Well played, Primetimer! 😄 100% agreed. A couple of misses, but otherwise, nothing but prime. To be honest, I don't think it will even get pass the semifinals, but I'm really hoping I'm wrong. It's a ballsy move from Iceland, and I hope it pays off. Love that song. Faves this year: Italy, Iceland, Netherlands (+ Ukraine, had it not withdrawn). Guilty pleasures: Australia & Poland. (And of course I have to somewhat root for Finland since I'm Finnish, but I don't like our entry a lot.) That's… about it. Kind of a crappy year for me personally, at least compared to last year - when I ended up with at least 12 noteworthy songs on my playlist -, but oh well. This year seems… bland… but maybe that's just me. Madonna on the ESC stage fascinates me.
  11. Peculiar Snatch Game… the ones I thought would do good, didn't, and the ones I thought wouldn't impress me, impressed me. Figured Silky would probably do well, but didn't expect her to win. I haven't got the faintest idea who T.S. Madison is, but to me Silky was just Silky with a cocktail in her hand. Dunno why Ru's got such a boner for her... I think she can be funny, and like Jennifersdc, I'm usually rooting for the big girls, as they are… well, my people. I can identify with them to a certain point - something I can't do with a lot of the queens. But I can't root for Silky, because I just don't like her, no matter how much I want to. I was worried for Plastique; glad she's safe. She's a sweetheart. "Cash me outside" girl? Wait… what the… WHO? And more importantly - WHY? Jinkx ❤️ Brooke and Vanjie are still too cute. (Both together and separately.)
  12. SHE REALLY IS! I was stalking her IG the other day and I was like "dayumn boiii". I'm currently having a mini stroke because I love Alyssa so much. ❤️ Ru to Silky: "You've been getting by on that personality of yours" … and no truer words were ever said. Buh-bye Ra'Jah! Personally I enjoy design challenges, but still, couldn't agree with this more.
  13. Ah, thanks for that. I've never paid attention to how many queens there are left when the Snatch Game comes up, just that it's usually been earlier in the season (mostly in ep 5 or 6 I guess). I think it'd be cool if a big girl won for a change, but Ginger or Eureka, for example, would've been much more deserving than Silky IMO. Although, you never know… she might prove me wrong. But so far it doesn't look like it.
  14. Loved Ru's dress. LOL, Love Connie at the beginning of the Draglympics was a splitting image of myself at the high school gym class. I wonder what the thought process was behind eliminating Scarlett instead of Ra'Jah. IMO it was obvious Scarlett won the lip sync and this wasn't Ra'Jah's first time bottoming. I'm a bit sad 'cause I liked Scarlett, and I didn't think she deserved to go home yet. I was happy to see a softer side of Vanjie, but that runway… girl no. What even was that? I'm ready for Silky to go home now, please. Any day now, please. Me too! This was a third episode in a roll that I wasn't really feeling. Last week's Monster Ball was a great theme, but none of the executions blew me away. I'm still salty about Acid Betty going home so early. I absolutely loved her looks, and she wasn't even the worst in the Snatch Game. And speaking of Snatch Game… where is the friggin' Snatch Game? Aren't they doing it at all this season?
  15. It's entirely possible that I interpreted the paper wrong. But it said "Min/Seg" ("Minutos/Segundos", I must assume) and under that the number 3934. It would make sense that it read as 39 minutes and 34 seconds, but again, I may be wrong.
  16. This has made me want to steal the line "the next time you bring me talent, make sure they're talent-ed" line from South Park's Guitar Queer-o episode and adapt it as "the next time you wanna make fun of something, make sure you're fun-ny". I'm all for making fun of Trump, but this = not funny. Ginger was the best thing about this episode. ❤️ And I thought all the girls performed well, so that was nice, at least. I had to google who Tiffany Pollard is. And I've seen both seasons of Flavor of Love! Shame. I'm just gonna point this out in every single post: Plastique is so beautiful. Sweden mentioned! Was there something in Untucked or did I just miss that? 😮
  17. The police confiscated not also Sergey's computer(s), but his clients' as well (or that's what he said). He never admitted there having been porn, but he did say in the document that the police said (to him, apparently?) that they found porn on the hard drives. He never elaborated though, or said whether it - whatever it was - was found on his or his clients' computers. And that raises a bunch of new questions - like did he empty his clients' computers as well (which would be… questionable) or just his own? Did the police ever manage to restore what had been there? I mean, I'm pretty sure there was porn, and that's fine, I've nothing against that, but I can't help but think what kind of porn it was since it needed erasing, and since Sergey still, over 10 years later, refuses to talk about the whole thing. Because of that hard drive thing and because it's just weird that you wouldn't remember calling a business associate outside business hours, I still say there's something off about Murat & Sergey. On the document they quickly showed that call transaction paper, and if I understand correctly, that call went on for 39 minutes. That is not an accidental pocket call, nor likely a call that both parties would soon after forget having. Although I do also agree with the previous commenter - if there was any real evidence against them concerning Madeleine, I don't think the officials would've abandoned that line of investiagtion as quickly as they did. And I feel for them both for the press coverage, which was all sorts of awful.
  18. This! It's exactly like that "Innocence in Danger" woman said, in here where I live, anyway. By god if there's money missing, but human life's not worth a lot. BUT, I digress… IKR! There's always that one dumbass who goes "he / she didn't cry a single tear while giving their statement, it isn't normal, he / she must've done it!" PLLLEASEEEE. People react differently. You go lose a child and then come tell me what's normal and what isn't! Also that reporter who was like "if my child went missing from a hotel room I would treat it as a crime scene and wouldn't let anybody in." … Jeez, lady. Not all of us can act so rational when facing a shocking event. Watched the rest of it today. I still think it's possible she died by accident and the parents covered it up, but I lean towards kidnapping - especially after those shady guys collecting money for an orphanage that didn't exist (and by the way, why did it take YEARS for somebody to even remember that hey, this also happened??) and the numerous sexual predator incidents in Praia da Luz (which I'm sure the authorities would try to bury because of the negative impact on tourism). If the parents were responsible, the logical thing would be to bury the whole thing, talk about it no more and wait for the public to forget as well, but they've pretty much made sure that the case isn't forgotten and that it stays on the media, and that to me says they sincerely believe she was taken. I don't think guilty people would hire private detectives and such years on end. While the alternatives - like a lone predator or being kidnapped to be sold to a different family - aren't great either, I really hope she wasn't taken by some child pornography ring. Somehow I'm inclined to think that if that's the case, material of her would have to exist and someone - a decent person - would have seen it and, since Madeleine's face is very well known, reported it. But then again, maybe not. Maybe I'm just having false hope in humanity.
  19. I've watched six episodes thus far and I'll watch the rest of it as well. I remember when this case was in the headlines, but I didn't follow very closely at the time, and a lot of the document was new information for me. It IS needlessly long, though. They could've crammed all this is three episodes easily. I find myself thinking that it isn't really that hard to believe - for me, at least - that they sedated the kids and accidentally gave Madeleine too much, or that she had an allergic reaction or something and died, OR that something else happened in that hotel room - an accident - and she died, and the parents wanted to cover it up. (What I do find hard to believe is that they would store the dead body of their daughter for 25 DAYS before renting a car and getting rid of it! And where would they even store it??) With that said, it isn't hard to believe she was kidnapped, either. It happens, even though most people don't want to believe it (especially not in their country / city / neighbourhood / housing complex / jurisdiction etc.). I wouldn't trust ANY one person out of those who were initially handling the case in Portugal if my life depended on it, especially after what the document told about the Joana Cipriano case. When Amaral said he believed the evidence they collected was tampered in the UK, I was like "ok get the fuck out of here". Like the others, it does astonish me how they just left the kids, though. I don't like leaving my CAT unsupervised for more than 15 minutes, let alone THREE TODDLERS. Granted not everybody's as anxious as I am, and I don't have kids so who am I to even say anything, but I just. don't. get it. Okay, they were fast asleep, but how long is it going to take for a three-year-old to wake up, get scared in an unfamiliar environment and wander off to look for mommy (especially if the door wasn't even locked)? Not that long, I suspect. And even if the door was locked, there are plenty of things that can go wrong just within that room. I believe that's a possibility, too - that she woke up, wandered off and drowned or fell into a well or some such. Although I don't know how likely that is, because someone ought to have seen her and raised the alarm - or that's what I'd like to believe, anyway. And could she have wandered so far off that they never found the body. I thought it was suspicious that Murat didn't "remember" why he called that Sergey guy on the night of the disappearance. I mean yeah, I don't remember all the calls I make or receive either, but I find it curious that he would call someone he had purely a professional relationship with (as they both stated) in the middle of the night. And it was the night of disappearance as well! And then Sergey erasing his hard drives and not telling what for (and implying the police found porn in there, but never elaborating). That whole thing I find very sketchy, but maybe it had nothing to do with Madeleine. I thought about that as well! OH MY GOD THOSE PARENTS! Yeah, the Rui Pedro case. Imagine being a parent and knowing that your son's last moments were likely in the hands of pedophiles and torturers, however NOT knowing who those people were. Knowing that they were never caught or punished for what they did. Nobody looks for your son, nobody cares, and the sick fucks watching your child get tortured are caught and get a year in prison (which really happened). It broke my heart when the mother was like "they have helicopters looking for Madeleine, I didn't have that nine years ago, I had nothing". All the missing children should be equally important, but they aren't, and it makes me sad to my core.
  20. Oof. Team Mariah was pretty bad. I feel like even I know more about Mariah, and that's not good, 'cause gurl, I don't know a whole lot. (I did crack up at Plastique's random, out-of-place demon voice though, AND SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL I DIE.) They could've easily singled out Ra'Jah since she was the team leader, but I'm glad they didn't. I hate it everytime Ru goes "whose fault do you think this is" or "who do you think should go home" or some such question that is only asked to create drama, but it is a reality TV program, so I guess I just have to suck it up. Vanjie still confuses me. Like she has all the attributes that should make me like her, but something in her just rubs me the wrong way a little bit. Dunno what it is. Maybe I just need a couple of more episodes with her. With that said, I hope she and Brooke Lynn hook up. 😄 (Or… hooked up, since I don't know when this was filmed.) Have two queens ever fallen in love / hooked up in RPDR? I only know of Manila & Sahara and Sharon & Alaska, but they met prior the show. LOL, Yvie has no shame. And I love it. Hello shady!Ross! OH, and also I forgot: "Who the hell's Allah?" I DIED. I know I shouldn't laugh at the face of ignorance, but gurrrllllll I can't.
  21. I don't usually care much for the acting challenges - they can be fun, but the scripts are often awful and also I think it's a bit unfair that some of the contestants have big parts and some of them really small, because of course the judges are going to say "you faded into the background" or some such if you've only got two lines in the whole thing. (Of course you can still fuck up even if you've got a big part, though.) With that said, I enjoyed this week's challenge. The Get Out parody even got some chuckles out of me, and that's saying a lot! Vanjie's runway look was everything. I'm not sure what level I am with her yet, but she's growing on me. For sure. Watching S2 simultaneously with S11 is like watching a different show altogether, and not just because the difference of quality in the outfit department is CRAZY HUGE. I'm having kind of mixed feelings about it. Back then it didn't feel so scripted, there was something homely about it, and Ru was... I don't know, nicer, maybe? But then again, I do enjoy the professionalism and the fact that I get to marvel some beautiful, well-crafted, imaginative costumes and looks. This x 1000. She's not even trying to cover it up.
  22. Ooh. Yikes. Maybe that's for the best... she appears to have been part of many a controversy.
  23. Finally watched this! I think this was a good premiere; better than I expected, even. I liked the suitcase challenge and was excited to see some familiar faces. Ginger (who looked fab)! Adore! Sasha! Raja! Manila! Ongina! Raven! All my girls! <3 Miley's man drag was kinda horrible, but she still managed to flood my basement, as always. LOL @ Vanjie spying the others. I was having serious trouble to make out what Silky was saying. I lost like 89% of what she said and it annoys me. (Not throwing shade, just being a non-native English speaker who has trouble with dialects and all that.) Too bad we lost Soju so early on. I would've liked to see more of her, but that dress was... eh. 😕 (Although at least it wasn't another friggin' body suit!) I think Brooke Lynn's most interesting so far, but it's still early days. What story is that? 😮 (To clarify, I know very little of the queens' lives outside the show.) I'm currently re-watching S2 after having watched it only once years ago, and granted, I've only watched a few episodes so far so I don't know / remember if Tyra redeems herself going forward, but already I'm like how did she win this season???!!! What ha-happened? So much talent there and they pick the one sleeping through challenges? Nowadays they would have none of that. (Except with Jinkx, but that's different.) I totally feel her. I had a cyst on my bum once. Having it popped was one of the most painful experiences of my entire life, so I talk about it to anyone who'll listen (and okay, maybe also to those who don't). 😄
  24. Maybe not, but IMO it's still clearly the best of the AS seasons. AS1 was a weird stub, AS3 was a total fucking fiasco, and this season was just... lame. (Although I may also be biased 'cause I love Alaska.) But, not for long until S11. Phew. 🙂 😄
