  1. Ned brought Jon Snow home to Winterfell and presented him as his bastard son. It was a bit of a shock because no one, including his wife, expected him of all people to have a bastard son. Ned was filled to the brim with honor, so it seems more likely that rather than actually having a bastard son that he claimed Jon was his bastard to cover for someone or to hide the kid's real roots.
  2. I agree with you. Josh is there for the cameras. That said, I was actually pleasantly surprised by him in this episode. He appears to have grown up a bit in the past couple of years and was behaving, well, professionally. He didn't abuse or harass the captain who is helping him and even appeared to take advice. I was fascinated, however, by the Northwestern. I love the Hansen's family dynamics, they're a loving bunch but do knock heads once in a while. I suspect Sig is going to be giving in with regard to his daughter. She's got his backbone. The issue with the steering was neat to watch. There was a major problem and you saw a group of professionals work their way through the options. That's the show I know and love. Saga, I honestly just don't care about that ship or Elliot. He needs to take a break from the show, continue to work through his addictions, and sort out his life...off camera.
  3. Aemon also said he was young when he was in love. Ned Stark's sister was probably within a few years of his age. Aemon in his youth would have been a whole generation ahead of them.
  4. Ned Stark's mysterious and beloved sister might have gotten up to something.
  5. Excellent point. I got the two Kings Landing groups mixed up. I still, however, think that an NYC cop wouldn't s$%t his pants like Janos seemed to do.
  6. I'm sort of surprised that Janos completely fell apart. He was the head of the King's Guard, before Tyrion sent him to The Wall. The King's Guard certain has had issues with a wee bit of back stabbing (literal and figurative), but they've always seemed to be actual fighters. Janos has suspect loyalties, but there wasn't a hint before that he was an out and out coward.
  7. Once the fighting in the Castle and the charge toward the wall from the north ended, everyone seemed to be walking around without wondering whether the gates and the six young men had held. I kept expecting to see everyone chatting in the Castle yard while a pissed off giant emerged from the tunnel. Maester Aemon's talk with Sam was interesting and feels like it might be important later on. Somewhere, there is or was a young woman who had a romance with a Targeryan. A potential cousin for Dany somewhere in the Seven Kingdoms?
  8. Perhaps a Zoolander style pose-off, but this time with icy stares and lots of fur. I was surprised that Jon headed north. I thought he'd assume command of the Night's Watch. Maybe that happens after the Mance encounter. I was glad they actually did the attack on Castle Black. I've been wondering for the last few weeks if Ygritte and the cannibals were just wandering around in circles while Mance and the gang slowly made their way south to the Wall. Ygritte, you will NOT be missed. She managed to squeeze in one more "You know nothing" on her way out to remind me how much I disliked the character.
  9. Yes, it's mentioned across the seasons and the impacts of it on the boats is shown. Elliot is NOT the primary in this show and yet they're spending the show minutes to follow his useless arse to treatment. I'd rather see it handled like it was with Jake Harris. Put some text on the screen that he's gone, then show what happens to his boat in his absence, then move on.
  10. True, but there's a show called Intervention all about that. Deadliest Catch should be about the ups and downs of the men across a number of boats. Not wading deeply into the crap that is the life of Elliot and the Harris brothers. I adored Phil. His son's not so much.
  11. It's hard for me to estimate at the Hound's age. When I look at him all I can see is greasy hair and scars.
  12. I hope they stopped following Elliot once he finally entered the treatment center. I hope his asshole-ishness is a symptom of his drug and alcohol abuse, but I have a sense that it may not be completely. He shouldn't be on the show. Neither should either of the Harris sons. I would love to see less drug and ego drive Peyton-Place-At-Sea and see more of a broader cross section of life on these boats. Pick a handful of boats, excluding the Saga and the Cornelia Marie, and do what they used to do. Film the ups and downs of life on the boats. I've actually been fine with Junior's arc this season. That's real life, the battering a person's body takes, and a bad decision by him to try and keep fishing. Monty putting the pots in over the line was a great but short arc. That happens and we're seeing the consequences. Even greenhorns flaming out is part of the life. Sig and Edgar working out the balance between them, another good story. But Elliot and the Harris brothers should be off the cameras.
  13. I watched the episode again last night and a few things occurred to me. Cersei may have gotten some satisfaction over finally getting to kill her younger brother, but she has a problem that may be larger. Oberlyn was killed by her champion. Oberlyn's family have Myrcella, her daughter. Uh oh. Do all the Martell's feel like Oberlyn about protecting little girls? Cersei just sent Myrcella a fairly large boat. I wonder if it's meant to be a means for Myrcella and the King's Guard guy who went with her to sneak out of Dorne and get back to King's Landing. Littlefinger now controls the known heirs to the Vale and Winterfell/the North. Robin is clearly the future leader of the Vale (if he survives). Sansa's brothers are all dead or thought to be dead, so she'd inherit from her father. If Littlefinger could somehow get control back from the Roose Bolton, he's wards/captives/accolytes/whatever would control a massive amount of the Seven Kingdoms and potentially have a lot of bannermen lining up behind them. Littlefinger would be, as he seems to like, the power behind the thrones. He'd be in the catbird's seat, or would that be mockingbird's seat? ;) I don't think Arya will end up going up to the Ayrie. There's no reason for either she or the Hound to go to the trouble now that they don't believe she has a living adult relative up there. The only way Arya and Sansa could meet is if Sansa rides out with Robin to visit some of the keeps. It did sound like she and Littlefinger might be going. She could pass Arya on the road. I think this will be another case of the Stark kids being within yards of each other but not being able to interact. If the Hound's stamina is already being affected by the infected bite on his neck, I think Arya is going to be able to walk or ride away from him in the very near future. Her play now is probably going to Bravos to join the assassins. Theon and Ramsey both need to fall into a deep hole, be torched by a dragon, eaten by wild walkers, or something. Damn, they're sick and boring. How can you be sick and boring at the same time? Dunno, but they manage it. Jorah, Ser Friendzone, is probably going to look for ways to win his way back into Dany's inner circle. I bet you he gets involved with some spying, since he has experience in that, and tries to manipulate something into her favor. It was time that he and Dany's relationship was shaken up. Hopefully, she'll listen more to Ser Bellamy than to her toy boy the Second Son guy (blanking on his name).
  14. She can't blame losing her child on Jorah or the Lannisters. She made the deal with the sorcerer lady and she went into the tent of her own free will.
  15. This all brought a thought to mind. A male who is castrated when he's young doesn't develop the post-puberty characteristics that most men get...the characteristics that Varys is supposed to be showing. The Unsullied, at least those of them castrated young, shouldn't be looking quite so testosterone enhanced. Greyworm should be more inter-sex looking and less distinctly male. After that conversation between Missandei and Dany, I'm wondering if the slave masters left the Unsullied with a bit more than Varys was left with to allow them to have some hormones that could be helpful when it came to fighting.
  16. I got the feeling that she's going to be his student more than his Lolita. I was actually pleased and impressed that Littlefinger chose to groom Lyssa's son rather than sticking him in a tower room somewhere. Training him is an investment in Littlefinger's long term success. After the conversation with the Vale family leaders, it seems like the son might be turned into a new rallying point for families against the Lannisters. I wish Ramsey Snow/Bolton and Theon/Reek would just fall in a hole and disappear.
  17. You're right. I'd forgotten that. So, basically, they have been locked in a multi-year abusive battle that produced children who he or they use as pawns. I sort of hope that Phil wouldn't waste his time with a piece of crud like Elliot. Even after it's been scrubbed, I wish I hadn't read that twitter feed. Elliot is at best an idiot. Did you see the part where they're announcing he got out of paying the child support? He was bragging that he paid for "everything" when they lived together and it came up to more than the $50K. Well, YEAH, you idiot. They're your kids. You keep paying until they're 18 at the very least.
  18. I imagine that Val's divorce lawyer has found an abundance of information to use.
  19. It happened when the idiot new guy/felon joined the crew and distracted Bill.
  20. The best possible outcome would be for Elliot to disappear into a long term treatment program and for his father to find a replacement captain. It'd be nice to see the Saga be wildly successful while Elliot is gone. His crew deserves a profitable season under a professional captain to give them a little benefit from all this.
  21. A better dentist, too. The actor playing The Hound could eat corn on the cob through a fence.
  22. The Discovery Channel had to have an inkling of some of this before they brought him into the show. Basically, he was brought in to be a walking disaster and guaranteed drama.
  23. Did you catch the little part where he was on the phone with one of his kids talking about trick or treating? He told the child that he wants to be there with her (I think it was his daughter, not sure, though) but that Mommy won't let him. Yeah, that's classy right there and a completely healthy way to raise your kids. This isn't really about his going fishing to earn a living. It's about Elliott screwing around with another woman and not taking care of his children.
  24. He should be around Cersei and Jamie's age. Cersei was offering to show the other kids the "monster baby", then took them into Tyrion's nursery.
  25. My thought during that conversation is that Davos had better keep Shireen at his side. If the two women try to hurt Shireen, it may be the thing that drives a wedge between Melissandre and Stannis finally.
