Bruce ... Banner? Do you mean the guy who Jen spent most of an episode ridiculing for trying to mansplain to her what her life would be like as a Hulk? That was one of the first two episodes.

He wasn't "mansplaining". He was telling her what it would be like based on his experience as a Hulk, which he up to that point was the only person on earth to live with.

  2. I know the cats are part of the "thing", but honestly if I went into a cafe and saw a cat walking on the countertops like that I would turn around and leave.

I liked the fact that Randi was making a go of it. If it weren't for her ideas, Kat would have returned to an empty building.

  3. Weddings are so different depending on where you live (like funerals and baby showers). I've only been to a couple weddings that had table seating for a meal and those were "sit where you find a seat." I've never been to one with assigned seating except for the main table. Most of the receptions I've been to provided finger food/appetizers, not a regular meal.  Like @Ceindreadh, I've never been to a wedding with open bar - in fact, I don't think I've ever been to a wedding with alcoholic drinks other than champagne or wine.

I don't know why the awards shows insist on focusing on the performer and arty establishing shots instead of the memorial pictures. I couldn't even see half the names on my little TV. Almost all of them do this and it's very annoying.

  5. I re-watched 2009's "The Lovely Bones" and realized that Rose McIver (Sam) plays the older sister, Lindsey.  Funny; she's from New Zealand, her "sister" Saoirse Ronan spent most of her life in Ireland (though born in the Bronx), and her "mother" Rachel Weisz is from London, but they played an American family (Rachel did have a British accent in the movie).

If anyone's interested: the movie got mixed reviews, but it's one of my favorites.

In the scenes with Kirk and Pike, Kirk looked like a gangly teenager with a head too big for his body.

He reminds me of Jeffrey Hunter, who played the original Christopher Pike in the pilot for TOS. So that was a bit distracting.

I hadn't seen "Balance Of Terror" in many years and didn't immediately recognize what was going on. I finally caught on, and the episode made a lot more sense. I went back and watched the original and I liked how they merged that episode into this one.

  7. Even though I know John Dean is still alive, I feared for his life in that room with Liddy. That guy was a psycho!

I was not aware that Martha had died so soon after Watergate.  I wonder if that "Martha was right" flower arrangement is historical. Kinda ugly, but spot on.

I enjoyed the series more than I thought I would.  Except for Liddy, he was just TOO creepy. (The actor did a great job!)

And goes back to my original point on  how did her family pay for having two children attend Princeton at the same time.

Princeton has a really low acceptance rate - something like 5% last year - but they have a policy that if you are admitted you will get the financial aid you need to attend. The aid is in the form of grants - not loans.

Vanderbilt does this as well - my niece went there and was able to get 90% of her tuition/books/housing through a similar program.  You just have to demonstrate need.

I adore New Zealand's Prime Minister. She's so smart and so compassionate and so thoughtful. I've long wanted to visit New Zealand as it is, and knowing people like her are in charge there just further adds to my interest in doing so. The people of that country are incredibly lucky to have her in charge.

I've been to 26 countries, and New Zealand is the only one that I said "I want to live here!".  It's a beautiful country, with many cultures - Native, European, Malaysian, Indian, Chinese -  that live together in harmony.
