Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl
Sunfield replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Bethenny, it seems to me, runs her twitter as if she’s a regular non famous person in that sometimes she expresses herself like lots of people would. However, because she’s Bethenny, nearly everything she says and does it attacked and criticized. I like how she turned it around to asking people to share what they were doing when they heard. After today she may rethink sharing any personal thoughts anywhere. I would understand if she did. I think I’m done here. -

Hah! I hear you and don’t disagree. It’s just that PTSD changes a person a lot and I’m trying to give her some benefit of the doubt due to the losses Hahaha I know right?! But I believe Carole lies, all the time, about everything but especially about herself. That was such a weird thing for her to throw out suddenly, I immediately thought she was told the reverse but it horrified her. Like when she flipped out on Aviva about the ghostwriter accusation... seemed over the top and not credible Yeah. This for real. B dodged a bullet. She’s getting better at that and I’m happy for her progress spotting these people. They can wreck your life if you let them in or let them get too close. That’s why she shut Ramona down with “Noted” - she’s not feeding the trolls anymore. -
Carole Radziwill: She's a Real Princess!
Sunfield replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I think Carole has been playing a role up until this season or possibly the months just before filming the season. Adam broke up with her or they were on the outs. Bethenny didn’t invite her to the Hampton’s much. Carole had to turn back to old friends and those old friends are from judgmental lifestyles and cliques. Journalism, production tv (vs. Reality tv) etc. I think Carole just found herself again which was perhaps the idea all along...for this show to help her move forward in her life. This is the real Carole I think. And I don’t like her much but that’s ok. If she’s being herself, that’s fair. Wish she would just admit it however instead of scapegoating other women.- 5.4k replies

S10.E22: Reunion Part 3
Sunfield replied to OnceSane's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Ah, it’s nature of the show I think. That was a vicious reunion pileup. One of my first posts this season, I shared thought that Carole has PTSD. No shame in that for her. I do think she’s not mentally well since those 3 died and has been in a kind of limbo. I hope she gets well. Lashing out at B isn’t helping her. http://brainblogger.com/2015/01/24/how-does-post-traumatic-stress-disorder-change-the-brain/ -
Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

Same. I’m in medicine world for various reasons and this opioid crisis has been escalating for years. Physicians have been devastated by the harm they’ve caused, as have patients obviously. Here in Canada there have been detailed reports about it. Government page on opioid crisis https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/substance-use/problematic-prescription-drug-use/opioids/apparent-opioid-related-deaths.html Epidemic nationwide, it’s made drug addicts in neighbourhood homes instead of addicts on the street. This compounded the problem because it was hidden so nobody knew it was happening or worsening for some time. Bethenny is also grieving. Grief is a beast. She wasn’t wrong to express herself and she was correct too. Veer into medical twitter and B was very tame yet on point. She’s blunt but she’s effective. I understand people think she’s insensitive. She’s strong, that’s the issue in part....she’s been through fire and survived. But not everyone is ready for when she speaks these truths. It’s hard to take I understand but i appreciate her speaking up. Prominent voices of experience and caring create healing and positive change. -

That was never her narrative. There was the episode where she took Dorinda and introduced some of the people she was working with to help PR. And Bethenny did refer them as a team and more experienced than her as they’d also helped in Haiti. Bethenny was definitely working with skilled rescue people. -
Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

Oh I had one or two. Bethenny is not the narcissist. She’s a hard working woman who pulls off nearly everything she undertakes and also does a lot of good charity and volunteer work. It makes her look good, fine. She’s not doing it for that reason in my opinion. I genuinely cannot fathom seeing, hearing, and reading about Bethenny’s efforts in PR and still slamming her for it. All the evidence, details, testimony from those working with her, it’s all there. I legit do not get this hate for her. -
S10.E22: Reunion Part 3

Ughhhhh I’m on twitter. I’ve deliberately not looked a their accounts. I don’t follow any celebs or HWs. I’m on there for cats, design, world news, tornado warnings and some farms in Ireland. But damnit I will look now because of the worrying... ETA: she’s not been on since late August. I hope she’s ok. I think Carole is distancing to help Scott get away from Tinsley maybe? Guessing. -
S10.E22: Reunion Part 3
Sunfield replied to OnceSane's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I’ve always thought, since she and Andy were true friends off camera, that he begged her to join the cast. At the time, the show was losing viewers, they desperately needed a good draw and I think Carole may have needed it for her mental health too. This is all in my imagination, I admit! I still say, losing those 3 in her life so close together, plus her husband being ill all during marriage, destabilized Carole. I think maybe she’s so forgiving and tolerant of Dorinda too, because they share the same feeling of deep loss and not liking where their lives ended up. I wouldn’t be surprised if both Carole and Dorinda are permanently wounded grieving souls, and I’m not criticizing that. It happens to all types of people. They’re just not usually getting drunkor being abusive on our tv shows in real life. -
Carole Radziwill: She's a Real Princess!
Sunfield replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Ah. Here’s a photo of Bessette hugging Anthony...seems to be in her wedding dress. I think at best, Bessette was kind and friendly to Carole because JFK Jr was besties with Anthony. I feel bad for Carole but then remember her mean moments...sigh... -

Have just realized there aren’t photos of Carole with any Kennedy or Radziwill family members except in group shots. There are several of Bessette with everyone nearly, including Maria Shriver Also recall Aviva saying nobody in her family respects Carole which seemed weird inside baseball info but now I wonder. When Carole first joined HW I read her blogs and they were so good, so well written. I’ve not kept up with blogs for years now so hearing her writing has deteriorated makes me wonder if she did have a ghostwriter. -
Carole Radziwill: She's a Real Princess!
Sunfield replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
It’s interesting seeing Carole diss Tinsley this way and then the photos of Lee with Carolyn Bessette. I had the impression from reading What Remains that Bessette viewed and treated Carole much the same way Carole is now with Tinsley. I said before I think Carole has PTSD and also that she’s emulating Carolyn during these RHONY years... it’s a guess but I sincerely wonder now. Bessette was always being critical of Carole, much the way Bethenny did but Bethenny actually treated Carole as a friend and showed affection too. In WR book, there’s little affection between the two women.... I can’t remember any affection actually. Bessette would turn to Lee Radziwill as she was skilled and experienced with a high profile public role. Carole was not.... so really, Carole was Tinsley. Ive given myself a headache now trying to make sense of dead people’s past relationships. -

Grief is such a hot optic these days, you’re all probably calling it right. That could allow for Jill to appear as a friend or something but I hope not. As a season theme tho, I’m with everyone in not wanting to have grief be a storyline. It’s too sad. -
Speaking of Heather, she doesn’t have her company anymore. I was checking out her instagram...I think apart from a sponsorship product thing, she’s unemployed. That’s kind of a spectacular fall. I was surprised. I read several things a while ago, can’t remember them all but it sounded like a serious business mess. I’m glad her hubby has a good job. Last thing I expected to happen to Heather of all people. On the upside, I like what she posts on instagram. She always tries to be forward moving and positive, and I find her inspiring now. Go figure I guess.

Real Housewives in the Media

That was the thing I liked the least about Carole, and I used to like her more than any of them. She always made statements as if they were facts. In light of today’s journalism often colluding with lies and spin in politics, I don’t feel Carole is a fount of wisdom or truth. She is from the days when news was the ethical honest word. Those days ended when ... well, many years ago. Carole lies the same as all of them. She just refuses to face it imo. I think she’ll say absolutely anything to avoid accountability most of the time. -

He was on the spectrum apparently. Jackie helped him a lot. I either read that on the article linked in this thread or a different one was linked within that article. Nugget from Come to the Edge - the book is written by John’s first love from uni. She was the one who showed him the island and the church where he later married Bessette. The novel broke my heart for his first girlfriend...I’ve never cared for him since. She’s a good writer too I thought. Jackie liked her and there are many insider bits in that novel. I’m surprised it’s not widely read or known. -

Yep all this was the initiator for Carol distancing from Bethenny. Carol’s ego knows no bounds. -
S10.E21: Reunion Part 2
Sunfield replied to OnceSane's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Well said. Thank you. It saves me having to type it all. This is also the definition of gaslighting. Carol gaslit Bethenny. And prior to that, Carol used Bethenny when it suited her until she’d gotten all she needed and then she thought she’d just edge away quietly. It’s cruel to do to anyone. And that’s why Bethenny was so destabilized at various times during the season. That’s why B isn’t holding back for Carols feelings now and rightly so, Given what Bethenny was already dealing with -an ex gaslighting her who previously threatened her life -that Bethenny is as well as she is right now is a testament to her strength and good mental health. Carol is projecting when she calls B a narcissist. The narcissist is Carol. All the way back to her book What Remains... at least Carol is consistent so other potential victims know now. The last to know will apparently be Carol. -
Carole Radziwill: She's a Real Princess!

Thanks for this. I’d heard of Bergen but didn’t want to read his book. If it’s of interest, I’ve read Come to the Edge and honestly thought it was much more insightful and enjoyable writing and read than Carole’s book. JFK Jr was a jerk imo and I was surprised to discover that. As a result of reading tho, I finally understood all of that crowd better including Anthony and Carolyn. Witnessing Carole as her personality unfolded during RHONY is reminiscent of how she was then. I believe Carole speaks so highly of Anthony because it gives her esteem and cred by extension. She may have loved him but I can’t remember... a lot of her book was “woe is me” rather than about genuinely loving her husband but maybe I’m forgetting those parts? Of all of their friends crowd, Anthony Radziwill does seem to have been far more decent human being than JFK Jr and his wife. Carole tho, in her book What Remains, seemed childish, petulant and rather cold about her husband as he was so ill.... I’ll never forget that now after seeing her on this show and witnessing her display the same behaviour, attitudes and petulance on tv. I had a similar opinion of Carolyn Bessette after reading What Remains. Relevant bit - Bessette was similar in her friendships as Carole. Came in fast and hot and made fun of Carole and her style. I wonder now if Carole hasn’t tried to be like Bessette since they all died. It’s all very strange to see Carole today vs Carole the journalism person.- 5.4k replies

Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl
Sunfield replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Agree Smores. Bethenny is protecting Bryn for future both for personal and business reasons for Bryn herself. The world is all monetization all the time now. Keeping Bryn’s ownership and protection for her own use as she grows up is the new version of buying a savings investment vehicle for her future education. It’s a smart move. And if it turns out she doesn’t need it, it’s fine. Heather Holla T has several patents and curently not using any of them. Similar thing. -

I agree. To bring up the book “Down Girl” again, a great term has been coined for this phenomenon - himpathy Himpathy is defined as giving a man sympathy for the same things women are not given sympathy for, and worse, being concerned for a man’s feelings over a woman in the same situation. And in this case, holding B to a standard while ignoring Jason was there too. -
Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl
Sunfield replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Exactly. I’m a retired business woman from a male dominated field. Reading these posts, all I kept thinking of was men have been doing this to women since the dawn of time. That Bethenny is successful is a great accomplishment and she deserves to claim it all. We don’t know the details behind every decision she made along the way. If I had to recount the number of attempted assaults, stalking, etc., I sideswiped by cutting off a man’s access to part of my professional life, people would rethink. At least I certainly hope so. To give another accomplished woman her due, I highly recommend a new book by Kate Manne entitled Down Girl. It’s all about misogyny and sexism. I think it may help with understanding B. -

Thanks for sharing your experience. Have had my own as well but didn’t want to get into it here. This is the thing .... neglect is a severe form of abuse. Some examples most known in the world - Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe. Compassion and empathy are now necessary life skills demanded by employers, between coworkers, etc. It is an accepted necessity of life and safety for rights of individuals. We’ve never had this standard before. So Bethenny is not wrong in sharing the impact of her experience or in how she chooses to tell her story. It’s a good indication of her parenting knowledge that she is aware of all this as it gives better odds she will not repeat the patterns with her daughter.
