She was also the stewardess (pre “flight attendant” days) who had to fly the plane (until an alternate pilot could somehow get aboard the plane) after all of the flight crew was wiped out when a Cessna, with a private pilot who was having a heart attack, flew into the cockpit & made a huge hole in it along the flight engineer’s panel/side while both planes were on descent to Salt Lake City airport where they were diverted (from LA & Boise [I think], respectively) due to fog in Airport 1975.

Lord, what an awful movie that was!!!  Charleton Heston was her love interest!

  2. Really sick of being bombarded with Wayfair commercials!  They are reaching the point of torture, now.

I never understand these celebrities with their horrific plastic surgery (Meg Ryan, Reba McIntyre, Joan Van Ark, John Travolta, etc).  They have all the money in the world, figuratively speaking, yet they can't find a competent plastic surgeon?  How does that happen?

Debbie Reynolds had good plastic surgery, but Carrie Fisher’s was horrendous!  Did Debbie not share the name?

Sorry for the confusion-yes, I meant the firm doesn’t have to pay a fee to the agency that they would have had I gotten hired through them. It’s one of the things that has been an issue for me this past year dealing with recruiters. The two I used to work with had my interests at the forefront-and it would be an incentive to boot, to market me and get me placed. But since they left, I’ve noticed the recruiters these days act like they’re filling quotas and only want to market and work with those candidates that have a “perfect” job history-meaning long tenures between jobs. Or the bait and switch of recruiters who message me wanting to discuss opportunities because they saw my resume, were impressed with my experience (blah, blah) and would like to discuss a “fantastic” opportunity, only to ignore my calls and emails after our initial call. Don’t tell me what the status is of submissions, etc. Thankfully that’s ALL OVER.

    Got it!  Just wondering!

The ones who make you come in for testing & you never hear from them again.  If you call them about an opportunity that you've seen advertised, they don't want to bother (fake ad?).  I think they get people to register with them so they can tell employers that they have X-number registered with their agency.  Anyway, congrats!  Nice to not have to deal with that any more.

    The greatest satisfaction out of all this is that I got this job on my own. Not through an agency, so there's no fee to be paid;

Does the company employing you not pay the fee?  Every employment agency I've worked for doesn't charge the worker.  Or, did you mean no fee to be paid by the company employing you?  Maybe I'm misreading.

If you have a positive view, go ahead and post it.

All I see is Meghan with a permanent scowl on her face, no sense of humor, who attacks her co-hosts, getting featured in articles depicting her more as feisty and outspoken.

I would be interested in this, also.  Maybe, I'm missing something - she may have some (hidden) sterling qualities.

    Saw this today:

    https://www.closerweekly.com/posts/the-view-cast-changes-163995

On July 19, Whoopi Goldberg, 62, a co-host since 2007, had a contentious debate with guest Jeanine Pirro, a Fox News regular, which landed the show in the headlines. "The co-hosts were really worried for Whoopi," the insider revealed. "They were concerned that she would lose her job."

Then on July 23, ABC News announced Sara, 40, who's been on the show since 2016, would depart for a new ABC daytime gig with Good Morning America's Michael Strahan, starting in September. So, what does all this change mean for The View? "Two new co-hosts to start," said the insider, noting that the producers are talking about The View's regular guest host Ana Navarro and E!'s Catt Sadler.

What would Catt Sadler bring to the table?  I’m not too familiar with her work.  She looks like just another plastic host of an entertainment show.

    I agree with this post.

Also- I’m amazed how many families don’t meal plan- how do you know what to buy and how much? I’m a family of 1 and I meal plan for ME. I meal planned at 12 years old for my family and learned how long bulk items will last us (when to buy toilet paper, paper towels etc), how to reuse incredients in different recipes etc. However I grew up in a family that REALLY loved and enjoyed food, and was able to purchase whatever we fancied.

I think the Duggars just eat to live, there seems to be no sense of celebration, enjoyment, ritual or emotional ties to their food.

Food is just fuel to a lot of people.  The dinner time became enjoyable for me when I stopped waiting for my husband to show up & just ate with the kids.  His moods really made meals an ordeal.

Even the cats won't sit with me though this show

Cats know a crappy reality show when they see one!

id I mention the groom is a PK (Preacher's Kid)? So, the room likely contained members of his parent's congregation...

Seriously?  Charming!  I wish they would do away with the garter thing anyway.  So juvenile and just not nice.

I see from the comments that the general consensus seems to be that Ana is getting a job here.  As an avid CNN watcher and former The View watcher who hasn't watched since Whoopi ruined the show, I can appreciate that you all want Ana to join this show because she is awesome and one of my very favourite CNN contributors.  But if The View takes her, I won't get to see her on CNN anymore and this is a real problem for me personally because I won't get to see her anymore.  And that would suck.  Because she is a real asset to CNN.  And yeah, I have already shared this sentiment in another post in the Media thread, but she is also way too good for this show.  It doesn't deserve her.  And nobody on this panel ever seems to enjoy being there once the reality of how much this show sucks sinks in, and I only wish for happiness for her.

You certainly have a point.  As much as I would love to see her on The View, I’m not sure it’s a good career move.  She might be better off as a guest.

I was horrified for her when the groom knocked her off the chair gyrating during the garter belt thingie.

Haven't been watching because of the new format - but this definitely sounds like it's worth looking at!

OMG - I just looked at a clip of the "garter" thing.  Could he be any more vulgar?  Just disgusting.  Why does anyone think it's cute to climb under the bride's dress?

Okaay - still not going to watch.

  11. Just saw the episode where the bride's mom was coerced into spending double her budget for the (petite) bride.  $2800, plus accessories!  Apparently there was only one dress in her price range.  Really?  Really shitty of everyone to gang up on the mom, as far as I'm concerned.  It's just a damn dress, people!

    Bride's name was Summer.

This was on a "Yahoo" news feed, which showed various royals in Vanity Fair.  Poor apostrophe - such a difficult punctuation mark to use!  Sigh.

    Queen Elizabeth

To celebrate her 90th birthday in 2017, the Queen posed for portraits alongside her beloved corgi’s taken by acclaimed fashion photographer, Annie Leibovitz.

    Image via Vanity Fair.

I posted the frickin' thing originally!  I was remiss in just posting the text.  There was NO corgi portrait - there were multiple corgis in the photo.
