At the eulogy, yes. But she never once said it when she was busy defending the indefensible.

And why did she need to say it at the funeral?

    That was my point.

Gotcha!  You’re right that she kept her mouth shut on the show.

Meg and family’s behaviour was/is acceptable. Everyone else seemed far too over the top. McCain was just a man.

Like whose?  Obama & Bush made very nice, respectful speeches.  I think he deserved some attention after the years of service to his country, although a week of funerals seems a bit much.  What I don't get is the over-the-top grief & 7 hour funeral for a singer.

It will be very interesting to see her outlook / manner since she's really being slammed by his base.  I said I wouldn't tune in because of the addition of another Fox former employee. What to do.

Oh, come on - give it a try.  I said I wold give it a week (if I can stand it that long).  However, MM is not going to suddenly develop empathy, intelligence & a sense of humor, so I don't have high hopes.

Me too.  As much shade as she threw at Trump today time will tell if her feelings will hold or if she go back to defending his policies.  And she better be prepared for all those Trump voters she so vehemently defends turning their ire towards her.

She has difficulty when people disagree with her.

I imagine Meghan McCain was chosen to be the spokesperson, it's just strange that her other grown children didn't speak, and throughout the past several days the media focus has been mainly on her and her crying, even more than Mrs. McCain.  I know Meghan is on one of those talk shows, but I think there has been too much focus on her.  YMMV

She’s a very prominent pundint, though.  ?   I guess that’s why the media focus.

I don't mind open caskets, giving folks a chance to say a final goodbye.  However, I agree that in Ms. Franklin's case, the clothes changing is like some kind of macabre joke.  And I still can't get that picture of those feet out of my mind.

Speaking of funerals, I'm watching Meghan McCain right now and while I sympathize with her, I wish she didn't have such a high profile in the proceedings over the other children.  If you watch the media coverage, one would think that she was his only "true" child.

Oh, now here's James McCain.  That's it?

Not a big fan of the open casket either, prefer to remember the person alive.

Not everyone wants to speak at a funeral.  Perhaps, the family selected spokespersons.

It won't.   It's time with military precision, like the Naval Captain he was.

I'm going back and watching clips of Ms. Franklin's service.    Even as a recovering Catholic, I don't think I could have handled a service that long.

He’s already had two funerals.  AF had a 6-hour funeral.  I know people have to grieve, but the spectacles are getting out of hand!  Just my opinion.

I've been watching Aretha's celebration of life of and on for the past few hours. I see some people left that were on stage earlier, people in the band in the back are falling asleep and some attendees are wearing sunglasses that weren't before.

The Clintons were there for the first couple hours when Ariana Grande came on to sing and Bill's face lit up like a Christmas tree while the other guys next to him with the exception of Louis Farrakhan were looking without trying to be obvious.

Soooo long.  I don't know who could sit through all of that.  Bill is certainly looking his 72 years, but he's still Bill!

I wasn't happy when RCN replaced MeTV with Charge!.  I miss Wonder Woman, Night Gallery, Kolchak and WKRP.  OTOH, Charge! now shows The Avengers in the afternoon and martial arts movies from the 70s and 80s  on Saturday night and I'm enjoying seeing a lot of old Shaw Bros. and Golden Harvest films.  THey've also been showing a bunch of old Jackie Chan films.

    I used to love Kolchak!

Oh, now you've done it.  Astrology drives me INSANE.

I took an informal astronomy class many many years ago, taught by some astronomy teaching assistants at a major university.  The main thing I remember is that they said that because of the way things have shifted, the astrological signs we use today are basically a month off.  What!?!?  But it's true.

    https://www.livescience.com/9292-wobbly-earth-means-horoscope-wrong.html

So no offense to anyone here, but every time I hear someone talk about how this or that is because of an astrological sign, I want to scream.

ETA:  And I'm curious--for those who believe in astrology, how do you reconcile the fact that the signs we use today are a month off?

    I believe the flattering traits!

I think it's both TLC seeking out these trainwrecks for the "drah-ma" aspect, and said trainwrecks seeking out TLC for their chance to be on TeeVee and maybe getting "discovered".  Win win (but not for us viewers unfortunately)

The only thing that will be “discovered” is that they are jackasses!   LOL

Well, most of the other shows are on hiatus this time of year, so i could see it having been planned.  If she is still pissed about MS, what is she going to do when Ryan eventually flies the coop.  get over it  lol

I'm not sure she's still pissed about MS leaving (if she ever was).  It was probably the way it was handled in such a back stabbing way.  Ryan probably knows what a good gig this is.

Sara is nice and not the self-absorbed L.A. type.

I always liked Sara.  At first, she seemed not that bright, but I think she did her homework & seemed to bring a voice of reason to the show.  I wish her luck with the new show, but there are just so many of these daytime TV shows.  None of them bring anything fresh & new.  At least there are only two hosts.

BTW, KR is from New Jersey.

On the View she doesn't get emotional or tear up about sad things.  I'm not saying her grief isn't real but this is getting her a lot of media coverage.

I don’t think people are being fair.  I don’t tear up about sad things either.  I’m just not an emotional person.  She was, apparently, very close to her father, so I’m not going to judge.  How about the benefit of the doubt?  Who knows how we would act in the same circumstance?

I don’t like her, but I’ll give her a pass on this one.

I don't think anyone could read anything into it.  The room was small and circular.  It looked liked they grouped the seats in small clusters of two-rowed seats with four seats per row.  She just happened to be seated in the second row with his two oldest sons and daughter.  I thought she was still very visible. The spouses were all to the right of them in their own little cluster of seats. Everyone got the chance to go an take  moment with the casket, even the in-laws and grand kids.

I've read that the whole family is pretty close, even the kids from the first marriage.  I follow Jack. Jr and Renee (his wife) on twitter because I love how they both stan for their military branches  (I was a Navy brat) and they seem like a cute fun couple.

I’m not sure why this kind of thing is televised.  Everyone reading things into every move.  Bereaved people don’t need cameras in their faces.  Someone even commented on the widow’s hairstyle.
