Not only in Southern states.  I went to a funeral yesterday and was appalled at what the younger people wore.  Super short bandage dresses, hot pants and midriff baring tops, very short skirts and too tight t-shirts and one guy in jeans and a t-shirt with a nasty graphic.  And this is in Pennsylvania.

I work at a school and the two admin's were VERY firm on dress code:  No tennis shoes unless you are the gym teacher, no visible tattoos (please wear bracelets or a watch) no super skin tight bedazzled jeans on Fridays, no flip flops, no shorts, no deep scoop necklines, etc......I thought "We have to tell licensed teachers NOT to wear shorts and flips flops to school!"

Amazing, isn't it?  Why are people so clueless?  I guess it's, "well, I'm comfortable, I can wear what makes me feel good, I want to be sexy".  I call it a total lack of respect for others!

I couldn't disagree with you more!  She is very down-to-earth.  She's constantly posting pictures of her without hair and make-up and doing regular chores like laundry just to give girls a "real" celebrity role model.

With all that said, I know that sometimes there's just something about a person that I can't stand and I can't put my finger on it.  So, if that's all it is then I respectfully understand and won't argue any further. ;)

We will agree to disagree!  (I won't even mention that bit above, although it would be a laugh to see her without hair!)

Yes, that is why I cannot stand Kristen Bell, for example.

    Bless you!

Celebrity likes and dislikes are very subjective, she's just not my cup of tea.  I will shut up about her, because people like whom they like & I'm not looking to change anyone's mind, just voicing an opinion, per the title of the thread Actors, Hosts, and TV Personalities You Just Can't Stand

  3. ^^  Although "who can you trust?" is generally accepted as OK-ish and less formal.  See partial article below (if anyone is interested, you can check out the link):

    http://copywriter-editor.com/who-or-whom/

    Who or Whom?

How to get it right—and when and how to fudge it

Who and whom are tricky. Every language guide has an entry on how to deal with these pronouns. One of my favorites—Bryan A. Garner’s Modern American Usage—devotes a full page to published faux pas. Among the offenders are the likes of William F. Buckley and a passel of journalists who not only write for a living but probably also enjoy the ministrations of professional copy editors.

Part of the problem is the fact that, in casual speech and writing, who is widely and acceptably used in place of whom. That can leave whom sounding just plain wrong even when it’s right. This has been true for a long time. Observers of the language have been predicting and even promoting the demise of whom since at least 1870 (according to Webster’s dictionary). Yet we keep right on using who and whom in much the same way they were used in Shakespeare’s day.

Which is to say, who is a subject and whom is an object—until it sounds funny.

I hate the new format.  I liked the old format much better.

I couldn't even get through this episode, half an hour in and we were only at wedding #1!

Saw an older episode this afternoon.  Sooooo much better.

Homemade mac and cheese not boxed (where you bake, season, and use different cheeses--sometimes add meat and veggies, depending on preference) is a special-occasion food  for African Americans ( maybe southerners too--not sure). It is not 30-minute Kraft from the box standard.

I’ve made Mac & cheese from scratch, grated cheese, white sauce, bits of ham, etc.  & it’s sure delicious.  Just didn’t know it was wedding food.

  6. Is mac & cheese the new food-du-jour for weddings?  I don't get it!

I've been to weddings with (free) wine on the table and cash bar, but a dry wedding would not bother me, as I'm not much of a drinker.  Not a big fan of the open bar - people can't control themselves.

I didn't lose any interest or knowledge of anything that I knew before kids, I just was kind of "checked out"  of the most current stuff.

The thing with pop culture, is that it's so in your face, that you can't help but notice.  I don't watch Keeping Up With .... , but I sure know who they are.  My husband is absolutely not in tune with the times, & knows who Beiber is.

I truly believe CNN could win the ratings by going back to being a news channel. Nationwide and global  headlines and stories, on the scene reporting etc.  no more hour long panels talking Trump. Stop trying to make news, just report on everything going on. Balance it between white House shenanigans and EVERYTHING else.  People will watch and you’ll be on in every business like you used to be.

Many businesses have resorted to HGTV, Law and Order marathons, etc so not to spark politics in their business.

    Help us CNN, help us!

Could not have said it better.  Every show has the same story all day, with the same panelists running from show to show.  They were yap yapping American politics during the Italian bridge collapse.  Have a political opinion show for a couple of hours at night.

I *hate* all reality "stars".  Everything is so fake.  I don't mind the competitions, such as Survivor or The Amazing Race, although I haven't watched TAR in a few years and I never really cared for Survivor all that much, because like my mom said, it's a competition to see who the best liar is. Oversimplification I know.  But, at least it's an actual competition and not completely scripted/staged.

I have watched Amazing Race and enjoyed it.  Fun way to see the world.  I’m also sick of “talent” shows, dancing, juggling .....  I will watch American Idol, for the singing, not for the drama among judges.

For those who don’t know, her husband is NFL Quarterback Jay Cutler, formerly of the Denver Broncos (3 seasons) Chicago Bears (8 seasons) & the Miami Dolphins (1 season).

I caught 3 seconds of an interview on Wendy Williams(?) where she mentioned her husband.  I guess she’s famous by association.

Hate all of the Real Housewives, & their histrionics.  You aren’t stars, ladies.

Kristen Bell is on a top rated NBC show, so I don’t know how she can be a D-list actress.  And she’s very good.

Now Kristin Cavallari, I agree has no talent.  And neither does her husband.

Matter of taste.  D-List is in the eye of the beholder.  Every time I see her, I switch channels.  Kristin Cavallari - reality "star"?  Don't know much about her.
