  1. Hey, everybody, I'm late to the party but ready to get down!
  2. One of the characters I am really hoping Mulcahy turns his attention to is Esme. She has the potential to be the next iteration of Sarah Brown's Carly, the "scrappy little schemer who was also vulnerable and often fallible"* (thanks for the turn of phrase, 30Helens! 🙂). But the current writers only seem to have 2 settings for characters - infallibly good or irredeemably evil. No nuance whatsoever. Also get her out of the spoiler role for Sprina and get her some stories of her own. * - Nelle had that potential also, and it, and the talented actress playing the role, was utterly wasted.
  3. It's telling that the nickname for Guza and his writing partner at the time was "The Boys". Might as well have spelled it with a "Z".
  4. I came here to join my voice to the others mourning Jackie Zeman's death. She was a very important part of General Hospital for a very long time. She was also a very important part of my childhood. Rest in peace, Barbara Jean.
  5. Oscars: Film Academy Enacts Sweeping Reforms of Campaign Rules in Response to Andrea Riseborough Controversy Looks like a bunch of people just got their hands metaphorically slapped...
  6. In all fairness, the TWOP boards had become so notorious for having crazy pants posters even THE WEST WING took a shot at them.
  7. Many Oscar voters are probably young enough that they don't even know who JLC's parents are. Judd and Lynn were members of the Academy and have worked in movies (Judd was an actress for a while, although obviously not as successful in that field as her daughter Ashley). McVie was not a member of the Academy and has never (to my knowledge) worked in movies, hence she was not featured.
  8. Unlike last year, where almost every comedy routine was a complete cringe-fest, this year most of the jokes were actually funny.
  9. "Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford..." Do something about that, would ya, Oscar voters!
  10. Lotta sentimental favorites taking home the little gold man tonight...
  11. Tell me about it. I still vividly recall Harrison's face falling like a rock when he saw the name in the envelope.
  12. Well, since THE FABLEMANS has no chance of winning Best Picture, bringing out Harrison Ford to give the award is clearly for the big moment when he and Ke get to share a big hug. Gonna be awkward if ALL QUIET takes it instead.
  13. Editing is the OTHER Best Picture bellwether category. So we have one film that won one bellwether, and one film that won another. Best Picture is going to be interesting...
  14. Awwww, I take back my John Travolta snark. Him getting choked up as he gives a shout-out to Olivia Newton-John got me all misty eyed.
  15. So now it's ALL QUIET's streak that gets broken. Interesting... The Screenplay Oscar for Polley was clearly a makeup award for her not even getting nominated for Best Director.
  16. "Royalty in her own right... Rihanna". Oh, man, Beyonce gonna be spitting nails over this!
  17. So ALL QUIET beats EEAAO in head-to-head competition. This does not bode well for Best Picture. :(
