What annoyed viewers about Seven/Chakotay wasn't the lack of chemistry. it was that there had never been any kind of buildup or foundation laid for the relationship -- it was just suddenly there, like Athena springing fully grown from the head of Zeus. The natural reaction of the viewers was understandably "WTF?  Where did THAT come from?"

I could hug this post. Exactly... it seemed so out of left field.

What kind of sadistic interior designer did Perry have? In the original series, which I have been watching lately, I can't get over his horrific office. Wicker desk? And what is up with that fake wood paneling?

Well that style was kind of in back then, during the 1950's - 60's.

I work in a house with 3 disabled adult women who love watching baseball on tv. Many times a game I have to hear the “Save big money at Menards” jingle. I got to the point that I’d have to plug my ears when it was playing because the song would get caught in a loop in my brain and I’d keep singing it in various styles & voices.

And now after seeing the words, I have that Menards jingle stuck in my head too! 🤣

Alex Kurtzman is involved in this, so the fan service will be excessive (Troi and Ryker), unnecessary (7 of 9), and even continuity breaking (Data).  He wrote Star Trek: Into Darkness, after all.

Really? Well color me surprised. I hated that movie. Thought it was horrible. That said, I disagree with you on the rest of it. I'm fine with fan service, as long as it's handled well.

The Lebanese brides Mother was awful. Randy and Diane had such a strong reaction I wonder was it worse than we saw. I was with the Mother that it was an awful dress but it was the Mothers pick and she didn't pick out an alternative or have any idea of what she would like to see her daughter in, it seemed a bit more like criticism of her daughter than the dress IMHO.I was glad her friends were so supportive and nice, everybody needs someone like them fighting their corner, was glad they stood up to the Mother for her too. The fawning over Pnina's outfit had me seriously cringing. Wish we got to see what dress she actually chose, hope she loved it and didn't just pick it to please her Mother.

Really liked the flight attendant bride but wasn't a fan of the dress she chose. I'm such a last minute person her 2 months seemed like so much time to me, I'd probably be shopping for one the week before.

Exactly. No doubt on it. It seemed very edited. And the mom was majorly censored.

I suspect the new design was done for TV. When the owner (Ronnie?) said something about how now everyone in the salon would know when someone says yes to a dress explained it all to me.  So, now everyone gets to know everyone else's business; forget elegance or the "Kleinfeld experience." They'll be able to move folks in and out more quickly, probably, too.

And, are we going to have to be subjected to more Shay? I would have no objections to him being seen in the background only.

Shay's gotten a bit better, that said... he could disappear into the background and I'd be fine as well.

I can't believe I'm just now learning that Russi Taylor was also the voice of Martin Prince on The Simpsons.

She was also the voice of Huey, Dewey, and Louie on the original Ducktales, but made a cameo as Young Donald on the new Ducktales (2017) for the Christmas special, and I absolutely flipped out.

RIP Russi, you were definitely a huge part of my formative years.

Same here. I grew up watching the show and didn't know that she played him.

Wow... grew up with her as a lot of characters. 😢 RIP Russi, and thanks for the memories.

She also reprised the role of Huey, Dewey and Louie in the Ducktales video game, along with playing Webby.

This so much. I was born in 1975, probably the perfect she for the show. Mr. Rogers was pretty much the only "real" show that showed me a calm, safe, caring home (that want a made up the show with actors), something that I and few of my friends had. When Fred Rogers died I cried harder than when my dad died.

That was me too. I cried hard when he passed away. It was a tough loss. He was a good person.

What's people's consensus on Schick's "trimming the bushes" ad for its Hydro Silk TrimStyle razor?

I'm about to review this commercial for my site (yes, I'm way late to the bush-trimming party), and wanted to take people's temperature on it. I know the commercial has generated a lot of complaints and even boycotts over the years, but the ad is still running. I think that's because it works.

    What are some opinions here?

I hate those commercials with a passion.

I hate that commercial because I keep expecting to hear Steve Winwood, not whatever that is.

That's me too! I expect to hear the former and when I don't... I go 'what is this crap?' XD.

Li'l Sweet is indeed played by Justin Guarini from S1 of American Idol. He rocked a bitchin' head of hair that got him compared to Sideshow Bob on the AI message boards. He was a talented singer but veered into schmaltzy and was of course ultimately defeated by vocal powerhouse Kelly Clarkson.

I'm hope he's making a ton of money from Dr. Pepper! I think Li'l Sweet is adorable and he cracks me up. I've always thought he was modeled after Prince and perhaps that was why he's such a wee fellow.

Holy crap... I would have never guessed it was him! I did too and I still do for what it's worth.

Yep.  Or maybe the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

I didn't dislike it, but I really only liked Daniel Striped Tiger -- because he was a cat, and I've loved cats since birth, and, even though I couldn't have articulated this at the time, because he was shy, and so was I.  Although Lady Elaine could be fun, and I liked when she stood up to the king (another aspect of my personality).  So I guess her too.  But I barely remember the others, because the trips to the Land of Make-Believe weren't my jam; by far my favorite part of the show was when he'd use Picture Picture to show the factory tours he took - I loved seeing how things were made.  Even as a kid, I was always more drawn to the real (or at least the realistic fiction).

Yep. But the puppets didn't really creep me out. I remember an episode where King Friday lost his head and Mr. Rogers continued until they were able to put Friday's head back on. Not sure which episode it was though sadly. Loved the factory tours. I remember one in particular... where he went to a spoon making factory. For some reason, I was up early and so was my mom... so we stayed up and watched the episode.

Yeah they did this last season too.  The episode would be billed for two hours.  The first hour will be the real SYTD.  The second hour will be the Northern edition.  Subsequent reruns will only be an hour and only show the first hour.  I don't understand why they do this.  If the Northern edition can't stand on its own without subertfuge, then they shouldn't be airing it.

The Northern edition used to be nicer overall, I thought, but from the little I've seen of this new season, it looks like they're going for awful entourages.

Thanks for the heads up. Liked the first part on it, since it was a full episode. The second part wasn't even billed as a preview... and I think that was a part of the problem right there. I don't either. Exactly. If it's not that good, then take it off the air.

Agreed. Along with the bland workers at the store. Zoned out for a lot of it to be honest (meaning the Northern edition).

The Kleinfeld one and the Southern one keep me engaged.

    I LOVE RANDY...that's all....signing off.

I do too. I still love the main show. Sorry if what I said made you sad... as it was aimed at the Northern edition and NOT Randy. Randy, I could watch all day... the Northern edition of the show... no.

  14. What was up with the other new episode? Randy was talking about a his new set of dresses he was working on, then they dealt with another bride... and the mother was a piece of work... then out of nowhere it went to the Northern edition of Say Yes to the Dress (which I found to be rather bland). Was hit with so much whiplash that it wasn't funny XD.

I am SO excited to see Jonathan Del Arco return as Hugh! His storyline has always been one of my favorites from the Star Trek universe, and I can't wait to see how the character has evolved in the decades since he first appeared. I'm also intrigued by the speculation floating around my imagination of a possible connection or interaction between Hugh and Seven of Nine/Jeri Ryan, given the Borg-related backgrounds of both characters. It was great to see Del Arco participate in the Picard interview at Comic-Con today:

So hyped about this. Glad Hugh is going to be in it as well! Loved him.

  16. Is it bad that I kind of zoned out on the first ep (meaning the ep I watched, the Northern edition)? All of these new people... and yet... I wasn't all that interested. It was ok, but just that.

Same. I can't believe it's not going to be a Netflix or Amazon release.

If it was that, I'd be noping even more. I'm no fan of Netflix or Amazon. I'd have to wait that much more for it to come out on dvd.
