I think a lot of fans probably vote without watching. If they put David on the jumbotron at a Cubs game, it was obviously a way to get quickie votes for him without people having to watch the show.  I'm pretty sure a lot of the dwts demo watches baseball as well.

Yeah, you don't have to watch the show. The voting information can be passed along through social media. I saw a picture of a storefront with his voting number on it.

John Lithgow does it for me.  Whether he is playing a prime minister or an absent minded professor I am all in.  I have always liked Sherri when she was in sitcoms.  Everyone Loves Raymond and that show on TVLand......

    I agree with @babyhouseman.

Yes, Lithgow was the main draw for me. I loved him in 3rd Rock from the Sun. Sherri was pretty good in a small role on 30 Rock.

Then he gets a text and leaves to meet with Christine.  I totally did not know she is his aunt!

I remember when Christine(I want to call her Cricket) met Scott's father and fell in love with him. The father's name was also Scott. It turned out they were half-brother and sister. Typical soap. Their mother had AIDS and was married to John Abbot. She died. Their mother had a curly eighties hairstyle, and she always acted fragile. Memories.

Did anyone else notice the shot of the set of "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" owl figurines on the shelf in Phyllis' apartment? WTF? Was that supposed to be a nod to the set of "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" monkey figurines that Phyllis and Nick gifted each other during the Phick affair? No, Sally. Just no.

That's why Nick acts like a monkey?

I know a guy who grew up in the Tennessee mountains and he talked about horehound candy. He sent a recipe and we made some at work. It's actually not candy, according to him, it's medicine. And it tastes like it. Just as gross as it sounds. They just call it candy.

My father loves horehound candy. He's from Eastern NC and said his grandmother used to boil the roots for medicine. You can find the candy at Cracker Barrels and gift shops/general stores in the South.

I, too, adored the original. I even have an original draft of the movie - complete with name changes and such in it - I got from eBay a while back. I was 15 when the movie came out, so I was also a teen, and I had the biggest crush on Johnny Castle/Patrick Swayze.

As I had stated in another thread, I'll likely hate watch this out of morbid curiosity, but I'm at a loss as to why it needed a remake at all. Sure didn't work out too well for Rocky Horror last October.

And I'm so sorry to hear that the filming location in NC is gone.  :-(  Is it just land now? New buildings? Oh, well.

The NC filming location was a Boys' Scout camp. It was open to the public for a while after the movie was filmed. It was very plain; they really dressed it up for the movie. Vandalism and fires took it out. A housing development is there now. They say you can still see some parts of the bridge where Baby danced. The Virginia location is still a resort. The buildings and gazebo are still there, but the lake is gone. According to scientists, lakes can drain. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/aug/28/dirty-dancing-lake-dries-up

I've read about the new movie's locations. They seem to be around Asheville, NC and other mountain towns in the area. The resort used was High Hampton Inn.

  6. I'm a huge fan of the original, obviously with my name. My profile picture is of Mountain Lake in Virginia, where parts of the original movie was filmed. I also got to see the filming location in NC. Sadly, it's not there anymore.  I'm going to hate watch this. The original came out when I was a teen and having a rough time with medical problems so it'll always have a special place in my heart.

I hope we find out who dunnit by the time this ends; I'd hate to be left hanging. Ratings have been fair - Cancel Bear has it as a toss-up for renewal.

USA Today had an article about shows up for renewal. This show was on the bubble so it could go either way.

Why do they feel the KJB is superior?

It's a Baptist thing here. A family member became hard core fundie and decided KJB was the only Bible. The other versions are "inferior" even they though they make the Bible easier to read.

I know what you mean Love2dance.  I was surprised to see Kate Plus 8 on the list, but the show must have gotten good numbers!

Actually,  none of the last season episodes reached a million while the Duggars and Roloffs do go into a million. I'm convinced Kate has incriminating pictures of someone high up or she made a deal with the devil like Kris Jenner.

I didn't like Nyle's dancing either - he never progressed from week 1 and I don't think he learned anything.  I believe the reason Maks was in rehearsal so much was so Nyle could just mimic Maks + Peta doing each dance.  IMO he was just trying to get famous by being on a bunch of reality shows and did not deserve to be awarded the MBT.

I didn't care for Nyle either. I have a mild hearing loss and can sympathize, but I thought he was overhyped.

Speaking of continuity, I recently watched the pilot on Hulu after not seeing it in YEARS. And according to that Golden Girls book, the show originally was to put more focus on the gay houseboy that appeared in said pilot, a foil for the girls or whatever. Was it ever explained in a later episode what happened to him (as he obviously didn't "take") or was he like those tent mates of Hawkeye's in MASH not Frank and Trapper who just went poof?

I read Sophia's character was supposed to be a guest star, and her popularity squeezed Coco out. I don't think he was mentioned again.
