S07.E07: Legendary Legend Looks

I disagree. I think there is a strategy and it's pretty straightforward (even if the contestants start to talk about having to do Math anytime strategy is involved) From what we know, the top 4 queens will be in the finale. If you are in the top 4, you want to protect your spot there. So you vote to keep others out of the top 4. It does not matter if one of your compatriots in the Top 4 has more stars than you. All that matters is you are one of the top 4. If you are not in the Top 4 you should stop other people from getting in the Top 4, not worrying about what others who are already in the top 4. In general, you should always be plunging the queens who are in the back of the pack. -

I thought Jan's entrance was the highlight of the episode, but the bar was very low. -
Kandy Muse is neither confident nor arrogant. In fact, she is the opposite. She acts in a way in which a non-confident person THINKS a confident person should act. Sorta like a person telling you over and over again that they are really nice. Really nice people don't have to tell anybody else they are nice. Same goes for confidence. Having confidence gives one the ability to heed constructive criticism.

I think the one thing Shea missed was the frenetic chaos that is Flavor Flav's personality. Maybe I am saying that because I know him from Public Enemy and not from this reality TV stint(s). Without the clock around his neck it would have been hard to, ahem, clock who Shea was trying to play.

Jan's lipsync was BONKERS! She was punching and jabbing and punching with INTENSITY. No nuance whatsoever to the performance. This episode also reminded me of something I've noticed over different seasons and even different versions of Drag Race. But, when there are 8 contestants on the stage, they are divided up (left to right) 5 on one side and 3 on the other. Not 4 and 4. Always catches my eye and I think it's a bit weird.

S09.E07: Left on the Cutting Room Floor

You can tell a lot of these queens didn't go too far in school because their critical thinking skills aren't all that great. Plastique's "math" theory made sense. If there are a certain number of spots for the "top" or "finale" then you want to protect one of those spots for yourself. If a queen is in the top 3 at any moment then they should protect that spot by not letting other people in. It wouldn't matter if somebody else in the top got another badge but it would if you let somebody with less into the top. It's a bit of a fluid situation but PT had the right idea. -
Silky's confidence and self-assuredness comes off as very put-on. She is acting in a way that she thinks people with those qualities would actually act. People with confidence can hear criticism. People with confidence strive to improve. People with confidence are aware of their faults because they are constantly improving on them. Not so with Silky.

I have no love for Yvie but I will say that parts of her Whoopie were decent. I thought she had a little bit of her speaking cadence down. What confused me was why she didn't wear normal glasses? I don't think Whoopie wears pince-nez. Or does she?

Re-watching this season and I was 100% sure that Monet won the whole thing so color me AGOG (AGAG?) when MxC was sent home. Also really funny to read this forum and see all the "Who the hell is Lizzo" posts. Lizzo occupied the top spot on Mrs. Mahfouz's musician list for quite some time. Mrs. M. even caught Covid at one of her concerts (we think). I don't think there was anything wrong with Eureka's strategy. If she thought Aquaria would have a tougher time painting an AA's face that is a legit strategy. Where she really fucked up was in announcing her strategy and how it was implemented. I felt really sorry for Kingsley (I think that was Aquaria's partner's name) who had to hear that as the only black guest he was the "tool" by which Eureka would foist havoc upon Aquaria. People sometimes think that being brash and up-front gives them a pass from being criticized for what they say. "It's not my fault, I tell it like it is". It's bad strategy not just for the TV show, but for developing fans outside of the show as well.

Mrs. Mahfouz and I are rewatching this season right now and it is SO interesting to see how the whole "Miss Vangie" thing really took off completely organically. Knowing it was coming at the end the first episode the whole thing seemed really underwhelming/disappointing. We expected something more. But it's been hilarious how everybody has just picked up on the whole "vaaaaannnnnggiiie" thing. It really makes me LOVE Vangie. She must be super charismatic in person.

You will not like Season 14.

Wait until Barney finds out about Maddy Morphosis.

Pretty rich of Rupaul to complain about all the macabre jokes in a skit set in SALEM MASSACHUSETTS. What did she expect the skit to contain? Jokes about being a fan of the Red Sox? I am absolutely convinced that Roxxy cried after choosing Mik because she is hoping this decreases the chance that Mik will scissor her next week. I think Roxxy and PT benefitted from a. PT going ugly and b. being the first of the hillbilly skits. I know Roxxy lives in Florida but if she thinks that the northern part of that state isn't country she needs to get out more.

Rewatching this season. In the history of DR has there ever been a worse one-episode performance from one of the queens than Charlie's? First, she totally tried to un-coo-coo the coo-coo and that was a huge mistake. Also, to just totally throw in the towel on the lip-sync makes me wonder why in the hell she even bothered to come on the show. Also, saying you can't lip sync because you only sing is like saying you can't ride an exercise bike because you only ride real bicycles. If you can sing, you can lip-sync. Just don't make any noise. Total cop-out.

This was the right call by Ru. Of the final three, Nymphia brought the most creativity and originality to her drag. I can't even imagine how PJ didn't get read one time by any of the judges for the seemingly endless supply of one-piece bathing suit outfits she brought to the stage. And in a sense, Saffira already won because the exact same queen won Season 1 only in the form of Bebe Zaharia Benet. Quite a few great choices for All-Stars from this season. Q, Dawn, Amanda, PJ, Megami.
