[S17.E12: Lucca]

Regarding first class, the first time I flew first class was a couple of years ago (no executives in my family). It was only $100 more than economy class so I decided to treat myself. I was sort of meh on it. The service was better, but I didn't need the extra leg room or any of the other perks. Then last summer I was booking a flight on one of the planes that has the first class seats that can fully recline, like the ones in this episode, so of course I had to try it. OMG IT WAS AMAZING! It was only a two hour flight, but being able to sit, or more accurately, lay, in a comfortable position for the whole flight was worth the extra cost. Definitely treat yourself to the fully reclining first class if you can.

I was also bummed to see Gregory get eliminated this episode. I like Stephanie as a person and I do think she's talented, but I think Gregory is more talented, so I would have preferred to have her leave instead of him.

It's interesting with Kevin. I don't have an issue with him as much as other people do, but I get why he rubs some people the wrong way. I wonder if he's changed since his season or if that season was filled with such dicks - Mike Isabella, Eli (I think that was his name) - that his flaws weren't noticed because they were nothing compared to those assholes.

I'm not normally someone who thinks "producer shenanigans!!!" but this definitely seemed like producer shenanigans. Like the servers are fine the whole time except when it gets to Malarky? Seems suspect.

But of the people left, I think he was the right person to go. He's kind of annoying, but he's harmless and relatively positive, so I don't mind him too much.

I really like the final five. No matter who ultimately wins I'll be happy, but Melissa and Gregory are my favorites.

Brittany and her mom the whole episode ominously saying, "What Frank did at his bachelor party," I was expecting that he had sex with a prostitute and accidentally killed her. Or something like that. Then it ended up being, he got drunk, got a lap dance, went home, watched porn, and jerked off. Like, that's it? I might be annoyed by that, but I definitely wouldn't let that stop me from getting married and then hold it over his head for months and years on end. Like, lady, get over it. YMMV, but I definitely don't consider that cheating.

I hope we get to see siblings again this season. The siblings seem to be the Greek Chorus on this show.

Binged the whole season today and loved it. Even though the love triangle is a cliche (Mindy Kaling loves her rom-coms), what I like with this show is that there isn't one clear bad guy and one clear good guy. Both Ben and Paxton have good and bad qualities and reasons their relationships with Davi could work well and could be a wreck.

Someone in another post in this thread mentioned that the dynamic between Davi and Ben is like Mindy Lahiri and Danny Castellano and I remember Danny being pretty mean to Mindy at the beginning of the series. He even made a really shitty comment about her appearance/weight in the first episode. Of course he said that after she was making equally shitty comments about his divorce. It seems like with this series and the first season the Mindy Project that she eventually finds the right balance of flirting/bickering for the love interests.

ITA. Maybe she went through speech therapy and it didn't work, which I say that as someone who still has a lisp despite years of speech therapy as a kid. Maybe she doesn't care that other people have a problem with her voice. Either way, maybe we can stop policing women's voices.

I turned on an episode today but turned it off after a few minutes because they were touring a home built in the 70's and the kitchen had a pass through to the dining room and of course they were like, "Isn't it sO cRaZy that this was the style at the time?" It really annoyed me, probably because I HATE open floor plans, and it's just like, my dudes, the way you talk about these 70's floor plans is the way people are going to talk about open floor plans in 30 years. Like, "Isn't it so crazy that people wanted to put their living rooms in their kitchens?" 

[S01.E04: Fight for Your Life]

When the judges were lecturing the contestants about how a million dollars is a big deal and investors will move on if you don't seem like you're really working for it, my first thought was, "Yeah, Jeff Bezos doesn't just have a million dollars to throw around!"

They've clearly spent a lot of money on this show, but I don't think it has that much payoff. But I'll still watch it since there are no new episodes of Project Runway or Next in Fashion.

I know Malarkey isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I cracked up when he said of Lee Ann's dish, "More is not better and that's *me* saying that." At least he's self-aware.

Man, it was shitty mother day on Judge Judy this afternoon. What kind of mom falsely reports that her son stole a van? Especially when you consider how many unarmed black men in this country have been shot by police. She really put his life in danger doing that.

That mom who cut her daughter, man, what a piece of shit. Her abusive side really came out during the interview. I was like, "Yep, there it is." The daughter was annoying, but I really felt bad for her. 

[S01.E10: The Finale]

Overall I enjoyed this show, but I do wish they'd get rid of the team aspect next season. Why not just eliminate two people each episode - like they did after splitting the teams up - and let them compete individually? That way each contestant succeeds or fails on their own merits. I loved Angelo (definitely my favorite contestant) but he would have been eliminated a lot sooner had he not had a partner who could do all the sewing.

I did like that they provided fabrics and notions and could get them anything that was not already in the fabric room. These designers definitely seem more talented than the designers on Project Runway, but they also had no budget and I assume the fabric provided was good quality, so that could account for that.

Nothing wrong with it at all; I love 90's fashion. I was just surprised by how it actually looked like it was from the mid-90's, as opposed to clothing now that just seems inspired by the mid-90's, like the Wild Fable line at Target. But if she said it was literally from the mid-90's, which I missed, that would explain that.

[S01.E04: Streetwear]

I've been enjoying this series, but the end of this episode really turned me off. Why TF did the guest judge dramatically walk off? Your job here is to judge, so judge.

I HATED that they made the contestants wait until the next day to find out who was going home. Don't make the bottom teams twist in the wind like that. I HATED that Tan started crying (though he may have been tired after a long day, which, I've been there). Like you feel bad? Imagine how the bottom teams feel right now. Then they just don't eliminate anyone? Next time get an odd number of judges. I don't know why I'm so annoyed by this, but I am.

On a lighter note, Alexa's outfit and hairstyle on runway day were straight out of the mid-90's. Like I'm pretty certain I saw a very similar outfit in a 1994 YM (and I'm not even joking about that).

[S01.E03: The Suit]

I really loved the gray suit with the wrap top/jacket and gaucho pants and was bummed it didn't win. Tan was right about the styling, though.

I did not care for the stylist guest judge. I felt like he was playing up the bitchy comments and quips for the camera. Loved Phillip Lim, though. So far all the designer guest judges have been great.

I felt bad for Julian and Hayley because they were at such a disadvantage over the other teams because they didn't already know each other and they have such different aesthetics.

I agree with you @HappyBerry. Ryan was a very shitty boyfriend, but he isn't necessarily a very shitty person. Childish, thoughtless, and someone who desperately needs to grow up, yes, but not malicious.

So often as women we're told, explicitly and implicitly, that there's nothing more important than finding a boyfriend and eventually a husband. And fat women in particular are constantly given the message, "Just take who you can get. You can't do better." So I was glad to see the season end with Annie realizing that yes, in fact, she can do better.

[S03.E07: Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Judas Kiss]

I just finished this episode and I feel like this was the darkest episode in the entire series. It was a good episode but not particularly enjoyable.

[S18.E07: Project Runway x Ashley Longshore]

Victoria continues to annoy me. The first time she's been in the bottom after weeks of being in the top, if not the winner, and she has a fucking tantrum about it. 

Brittany annoys me too, but her outfit really was the best. 

I know Brandon is controversial, but I love him. I didn't care for Dayoung's outfit either and I loved the look he gave Nina when she said she didn't realize which outfit was Victoria's. "You didn't realize the white bandage top was Victoria's?" (Or whatever the exact wording was.)

I'm glad Nancy was safe. She's probably my favorite. But Karlie didn't seem too happy about saying that she was safe. I am sad to see Marquis go, though. 

[S18.E06: There Is Only One You]

HOW THE FUCK WAS VICTORIA IN THE TOP?!?! To quote Mugatu, "I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!" (I'll stop yelling now.) That outfit was ugly as hell and if Tim was here he would say that the judges were smoking crack with this one. They've got some serious groupthink going on with her.

I haven't warmed up to Victoria and I found it especially off-putting when she said she felt guilty about always being in the top. It felt like fishing for validation and compliments, which is not the thing to do when you're consistently (and, I would say, inexplicably) in the top. 

I LOVED Chelsey's look. So happy she won.

Sad to see Shavi go. He looked so heartbroken when Karlie said his name. 

I didn't care for Sergio's idea. It's one thing to do something with your own history, but using someone else's tragedy felt exploitative to me. 

I'm always a sucker for calls with loved ones on competition shows, so I teared up a little when the designers teared up talking to their parents, especially Dayoung.

[S18.E05: She's Sew Unusual]

So happy Geoffrey won, not just because of what Cyndi means to him, but because he had hands down the best outfit. 

I was with Brandon on Brittany's outfit. I hated it. Hated the mauve-y pink. Hated the corset over the work wear outfit. It seemed like something the female boss in a porno would wear.

I hope Sergio continues to get smacked down by the judges. Cyndi looked at him in disgust when he said that thing about designing for women over 40. Um, guy, Cyndi is over 40! So is Nina! And they hate your shit.

You knew Melanie was out when Nina said she couldn't remember anything she made in the competition. <Tim Gunn voice> Don't bore Nina! </Tim Gunn voice>

Glad to see Nancy finally getting some love. Victoria's appeal is lost on me. I don't get why the judges love her so much.

There were a few contestants they showed this episode and I was like, "Who the hell are you?" Like the tall girl who made the all denim outfit and the blonde girl who isn't the one from Texas. I did not care for that all denim outfit at all. It also reminded me of a challenge from Christian's season when they had to make outfits from Levi's. Weren't too concerned about the environmental impact of jeans during that challenge.

For someone who thinks so highly of himself, I'm sure it's eating Sergio alive that he's so consistently middle of the pack.

[S01.E09: Thanks-taking]

I don't like that Ginny backslided (backslid?) with Wayne, but I did laugh my ass off at "Someone earned herself another mug."

[S01.E04: Hunting Season]

This was definitely my favorite episode so far - "Blugrass Bitch," the cute truffle hunting dog, Dwayne and Wayne hugging it out and not being embarrassed when Ginny and Adams see them. This show makes me want to move to a small town (though I've spent most of my life in Chicago, so I don't know how well that would go).

[S01.E09: Better Is the End of a Thing Than Its Beginning]

I think this was my favorite episode of the season. I know that all the characters are terrible and that's the point, but I liked that there was some heart and kindness to multiple story lines: Eli making amends with Dermot Mulroney, Jesse volunteering with Gideon in Haiti, Keefe and Kelvin and Judy and BJ reuniting, Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin working together instead of antagonizing each other.

To me the funniest moments were BJ acting tough with the security guard then immediately backing down and Judy punching Tiffany even though she didn't have to.

And my favorite line of the night was Jesse to Gideon, "Let these Catholics and liberals help these folks get their clean water." As a liberal who was raised Catholic, that cracked my shit up.

Every time I see her I think of her nickname from the TWOP recaps - Tootie Carparts. Tootie because of the bowl cut Tyra gave her and Carparts because of a photo shoot that season involving car parts. 

ETA: She also went to Tyra's like teen girl summer camp - or whatever it was - before going on ANTM, so the fix was in for her that season.
