  1. Thank you for the help @ShutterbugCAM and @GaveIn, I really appreciate it.

    A little while back, when I wrote that slightly more than half of the DCC are only on the team for one or two years, @StellaCL pointed out that the group who left after 1 or 2 years included both cuts and retirements. It was a very good point that the 1-yr and 2-yr group wasn't just women who went into it wanting to do the DCC thing for a year or two and then move on. Many of them would have stayed longer if they could have. I wanted to take a look at those numbers and share them with others who may be interested.

    Question: How many of the "one and done" DCC (59 total) were cuts?

    Answer:
    54.2% were cut during auditions or training camp
    6.8% quit or were cut before their contract ended
    39% finished their contract and retired

    Question: Ditto for the 1-year and 2-year DCC combined (112 total)

    Answer:
    39.3% were cut during auditions/TC
    6.3% left mid-contract
    54.4% retired

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    I've included the numbers below. Both tables have the same data, but presented in two different views.  A few notes:

    • The total population is 216 DCC. (I excluded those currently going through auditions/TC because there's no telling when and why they will ultimately leave the team.)
    • The top table looks at it by year group (i.e. of the 1-years, how many retired vs cut)
    • The bottom table looks at it by reason for leaving (i.e. of the retirees, how many were 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, etc.)

    Forgot to mention Cici's sister - Laura (Alia) - @wialevi on IG which of course is private too:)

    Just found out Alia auditioned for the Seahawks Dancers and made the team. Guess I'll take her off my list of potential legacies. I don't think we'll ever see her in Dallas.

    And guess who else made the team? Anyone remember Geena Rojas from 2 years ago?

  3. Kat's personality isn't for everyone, but I like her. She seems to be unabashedly herself and I enjoy that about her. She'd be fun to hang out with.

    Those rumors sound like a load of bull to me. It is way too easy to drop something like that here and watch it get repeated and repeated until it is accepted as fact.

    I don't think she was cut. The way I remember it, she retired after just 1 season. She wasn't present at auditions Season 2.

    You're right. As far as I can tell, she retired. I have been working on the stats on the former DCCs and, here's what I currently have. As always, please let me know if there are any corrections.

    Gray = 1 year
    Pink = 2 years
    Orange = 3 years
    Yellow = 4 years
    Green = 5 years
    Blue = 6 years
    Purple = 7 years

    Too true. Who knows, these days? I will be interested to see how much of the change they decide keep, when it's fully back to normal next year.

    The girls indicated they made it into "training camp" but it seems to me like they just lumped finals into that process.

    I hope to God they didn't tell these girls they were in training camp, but to have a solo prepared, then they show up to find out it's only the finals of auditions. I mean like said about the sign says "Training Camp", so why are they treating this like the final round of auditions?

    Anything to make better tv, and high ratings I assume...

    This seems to be going according to the advertised plan. I expect they are referring to it as training camp in the signage because it's easier and gives them the flexibility to decide how to frame it on the tv show. 148470052_2021DCCauditiondates.thumb.JPG.870b73c8bbe9a95f15234629fdf91389.JPG

  7. I debated whether to put this here or the DCC org thread, but this one gets more views. It seems  we can thank Shelly for leading the resurrection of DallasCowboysCheerleaders.com. Thanks @ShellyB! I hope you are enjoying life in Houston. ☺️

    Also, now that I know you're involved with the website, I have to ask something I've been wondering. What happened with Gina's 2020 cameo? Was she unable to participate in last year's photoshoot?

    Does anyone know why Chandi's name is changed from Dayle to McCright on the DCC wikipedia, her insta still says Dayle, im just curious

    It seems her full name is Chandi Dayle McCright. References:  LinkedIn, Allure video, and honor society mention.

    All of her SM is Chandi Dayle so I assumed that Dayle was her last name. I'm guessing others did the same.

  9. I'm not going to speculate about whether she deserved it or not. I'm not educated enough on the topic to have an informed opinion. However, I believe this was the award. This was posted on the facebook page of one of the other girls. If my math is correct, Victoria would have been 16 at the time.

    Yikes! These are 2020-2021 prices, and they are NOT inexpensive!!

    It looks like $20k is less than 1/2 of one year for a 2 year or 4 year program. Don't get me wrong, any scholarship amount helps, but that's still a lot to come up with out of pocket.

    But the AMDA is a college with month long high school (age 14-19) summer programs, so what was she actually offered? A one year scholarship for what? A program especially designed for her? They acted like she was accepted into a prestigious dance school program where it would be a permanent move and she would be finishing her schooling in NYC while also studying dance (a la School of American Ballet). First, there is the age discrepancy (someone said she was 12 at the time) & second is her technical issues. Maybe someone thought there was raw talent there and they could overcome her technical issues (in a summer intensive or something), but MTT/DCC always seems to exaggerate her accomplishments and abilities -- so along with the programs AMDA actually offers & their age requirements (I know, I know, VK is so great they agreed to take her at 12 😒), I remain skeptical about what she was actually offered vs. what was portrayed on the show.

    I wouldn't say they "acted like" anything, in particular. What they said was she's had a lot of opportunities through dance, one of which was winning a $20k scholarship when she was in 8th grade, and Tina didn't want her baby girl to go. It was a very short segment (about a minute in). Unless there were other times it was mentioned (and there very well might be, I don't remember everything that happens on the show), that's pretty much all that was said.

    I suppose you could fault her for not mentioning that the competition gives out plenty of scholarships, many in greater amounts than what she won, but if someone were to ask me about my achievements, I wouldn't list all the scholarships I won and then point out that other people got scholarships too, and better ones than I did. I wouldn't consider it bragging or showing off to limit my comments to my own experiences. Your mileage may vary.

    It could've been for a summer intensive, but $20k seems like a lot for just the summer. Having said that, I'm not familiar with the competition world in general or AMDA in particular, so I'm just sharing the facts that I am aware of.

    There was one girl - don’t remember her name or season, but she had dark hair - whose mother was a DCC. They showed her cameo photo.  The daughter didn’t make training camp, and I don’t think she made it to finals

    Nadia Marcella Lombardo was her name. She auditioned in 2012. Her mother Natasha McCarley was a DCC in 1985. She overlapped with Kelli, whose rookie year was 1984.

    410284259_2012DCCAuditions_NadiasmomwasaDCC.jpg.eea318f5fa01ecdd4a12c913ff290409.jpg

    Cami Branson was another potential legacy. She auditioned in 2015. Her mom Candy Causey was a DCC in 1983, which was also Judy's last year on the team.

    Neither one of them (Natasha or Cami) made it to finals.

    ETA: for the sake of completeness, Madeline Salter's mother was Shannon Hall. She was on the team 1987, 88, and 89. She overlapped with Kelli, whose last year on the team was 1988, and with Tina Kalina's whose last year on the team was 1989.

    Were there even any legacies on the squad between Cassie and Victoria?  Any other legacies that tried out besides Dayton and Madeline S?  What would be the purpose of this rule?  Well except to justify an unpopular or unjustified decision of course.

    There is no rule about how many legacies are "allowed" to be on the team at one time. I believe that was a sarcastic comment that took on a life of its own.

    I call 298 (2% truth / 98 % lie) on this one. I have never seen VK compete outside of NYCDA and they award partial scholarships to summer intensives.

    I have always side-eyed this story too. Yes, she could have been offered some kind of scholarship to something in NYC (and I don't blame any parent, including TK, for not sending their kid), but I always felt like they exaggerated it so that it appeared to be way more than it was.

    I worked at a private performing arts “school”. They constantly awarded financial scholarships for intensives or camps that were a fraction of the total cost.

    Victoria won a 1-year, $20,000 scholarship to AMDA's New York campus. I believe it was won through the Tremaine convention system.

    Honestly y’all few teams still haven’t even started auditions!! Houston has the 49ers haven’t falcons haven’t the jets haven’t Miami is in the boot camp phase

    That is true, but pre-covid, the DCC were dead last every year.

    But in any case, all those other teams who haven't had auditions yet, will have them and STILL chose their their teams before the DCC do. 😄

    Not to go too far off topic, but have you seen the Raiderettes' new locker room and dance studio? I'm guessing Mandy had a lot to do with that before she left. https://www.raiders.com/photos/photos-raiderettes-see-locker-room-hold-first-practice-allegiant-stadium

    In Season 1, aren't auditions in April??

    Yes, they used to be earlier, and they used to do the calendar shoot after the team was selected. Shelly was asked about this years ago, but I can't remember what she said. I think it was something about how they moved it one year because the team had some commitments that conflicted with their usual audition time. Seems like they just never moved it back.

    I think because she was seen taking some prep classes. People speculated that she might try to try out again. But it could be she was just taking them for fun, or to keep dancing and stuff. No one knows at the moment.

    I really feel like Kelsey is off somewhere tee-heeing about this rumor.

  19. I know I need to stop posting Lily stuff, but for some reason this whole situation really strikes me. It's like the DCC are standing still and everyone is blowing by them. Lily auditioned for another team, was chosen, got her uniforms, got her team buddy, got her photo shoot taken care of. If these were normal times, she'd be off on the calendar shoot. Meanwhile, the DCC aren't anywhere near choosing their team.😴

    I get it, the DCC are world class, etc, and their process is different and lengthier because it can be. They have the luxury of that additional time and discernment. But looking at the teams side by side, or almost any other team compared to the DCC and the DCC process just seems so...so...so effing slow and ponderous. I always knew that. But for some reason, I'm really feeling it all of a sudden. Like, just get ON with it already. 😄

    This right here. The Hunt family that owns the Chiefs is based out of Dallas. Their daughter is the new Miss Kansas, likely eligible because she’s attending KU (I think she still is, anyway.) I imagine VK follows both Tavia and Gracie Hunt. Sydney is very close to the Hunt family too. It’s a small, small world.

    Oh wow, I didn't know all of that! I did wonder why Gracie kept popping up on the Chiefs' IG.  Small world indeed! Thanks for the intel.
