  1. Having a death claim filed for your real social security number when you're still alive has to be illegal.
  2. Having a few extra pounds at the beginning of Survivor is a good thing.
  3. A lefty who holds his hand the same way as a righty has the hemispheres of this brain reversed (Our "left brain" characteristics are in your right brain, and our "right brain" characteristics are on the left side of your brain). A lefty who writes with his hand hooked has the hemispheres of his brain placed the same way as a righty does.
  4. http://www.theactuarymagazine.org/breaking-the-mold/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/christinehofbeck I'm still not clear how this makes her a "hero."
  5. I was wondering if it was geographically accurate. Vanuatu is West of Fiji and Samoa is East. Were they on opposite sides of the pole? It would have made is easy for someone with a good sense of direction to figure it out.
  6. I just saw his Hart to Hart episode. He's the deranged hunter wanting a human trophy ala the short story The Most Dangerous Game we had to read in junior high. It's been confirmed that Pauley Perrette is out at the end of this season. If David McCallum decides to go too, I think it may be the end of the show.
  7. I'm part of the research group. I get surveys emailed to me throughout the season about what I like and don't like. I'm constantly telling them: I don't want to see returning players, I want to see challenges that actually have to do with survival, there are too many immunity idols, and I hate the "dumb themes." My comments don't seemed to have changed anything; however, I'm only one of a large research group. I have no idea if everyone else is praising the things I hate.
  8. 9. Also, no challenges about actual survival. Remember when they had to build a stretcher to rescue a parachuter from a tree? Or, signal a rescue plane?
  10. Also, the themes never seem to last past the third episode.
  11. Yawa tribe = hustlers Soko tribe = healers Levu tribe = heroes
  12. Po' Boy is a regional term. In other parts of the country their sandwiches would be known as Heroes, Submarines, Wedgies, Hoagies, etc.
  13. However, a dead dog is really scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as being interesting goes.
  14. I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but the reason the wing nuts were so hard is because it is a new obstacle. Now everyone will build one in his own gym. If they use if again next year, it won't take out nearly as many people because they will have had a year to practice it.
  15. I was wondering, if they had managed to land on the landing pad instead of in the water, would they have been allowed to go on, or would it be a DQ? Really, the women who advanced to the finals were the same ones who had been given wild cards in previous years, so the new rule doesn't change anything.
  16. The reason Double Dipper and Domino Run took out the most competitors was because they were the only new obstacles. Unlike the other obstacles, no one had the opportunity to build one and practice it for a year or more. If they want to keep the show fresh and challenging, they need to do a better job of avoiding repetition. This is what I'd like to see. It would separate the people who train on the obstacles from the real athletes.
  17. I thought basically the same thing, "How many times do I have to listen to her eulogy?" Unlike Kasey, she can win and lose gracefully.
  18. Yeah, but they also say that six weeks elapses in between the taping of the qualifying round and the finals rounds in each city.
  19. Totally agree. I think they actually made parkour run easier by providing a landing pad to stop on before grabbing the rope. On sonic curve you had to keep moving the whole time. As for the other obstacles, there weren't enough changes to them. People have now had years to practice them. Remember when the spider jump was a "ninja killer?" Now, pretty much everyone who gets there gets through it. Same with the warped wall. They need to come up with something that people haven't practiced in their home gyms until they perfected it. He looked really good for someone who was "near death several times" just 3 months previously.
  20. Filming schedule was: Los Angeles March 7 & 8 San Antonio March 26 & 27 Daytona April 7 & 8 Kansas City April 24 & 25 Cleveland May 8 & 9 Denver May 23 & 24 Las Vegas June 19 thru 24 (includes taping all the specials that will air next spring, such as Team Ninja Warrior)
  21. Denver qualifier was run May 23. Denver finals were filmed May 24.
  22. I know it is probably just a typo, but I find, "squeed with joy," to be hilarious. It sounds like a combination of, "squealed," and, "peed." Being an old fogey, I have squeed more frequently than I'd like to admit.
  23. It was filmed the at night during the month of April. I'm guessing that it probably got wet and iced over a little bit. They usually show a rerun on Sunday night, although it is a week delayed (ie Kansas City finals should be shown a week from Sunday, not this coming Sunday).
