This comment made me think of Jon in an American Pie situation.

I noticed in this episode that Molly was doing voice overs. Differently than what you guys call “talking heads” where they show the person being interviewed then may show other stuff while they’re still talking. It was as if she recorded audio in post-production. I didn’t notice anyone else doing that. Also, Molly looked more natural in those shots of her standing in the living room talking/being interviewed. Her hair wasn’t blown-out or flat ironed and she just looked happier somehow.
-
That is what I was saying upthread. Molly’s hair was darker blonde in the bed fight scene then it was at the dinner right before that. That fight was filmed later and inserted in there. The show is trying to fool us with the timeline.

It seems like Jephte has two voices. When he talks to Shauniece he sounds kind of dull & monotone. When he talks to other people or in interviews, he sounds normal.
-
I think that the fight between Molly and Jon didn’t happen on the same night as the dinner and the red wig. Her hair was darker blonde in the bed, but not at the dinner. We’ve seen future clips of her with that darker color. They must have inserted that scene in from later on.

I think that her looks play into this because of what she said about having to have her hair and nails done. She is probably someone who needs this veil of perfect beauty to cover up her insecurities. It’s like she can’t let her guard down beauty-wise nor relationship/intimacy-wise.
-
That’s true, but there are also converts and outliers. I’m just trying to say that if he is religious, it’s would explain why he was pushing Shauniece away, and not liking her sexual behavior. I would have said the same thing if he had had a Jesus statue on the nightstand or something.
-
She does seem to be like that. Those same “pretty girls” are usually also the ones who get upset when a guy pays attention to, or marries a racial minority instead of them. I just saw a real-life situation like that.
-
Yeah, that’s true. If he was trying to do things right religiously sex-wise, he still wasn’t treating her right as a person in general. I just think that this show is leaving out something because he did a total 360 without a real explanation.

Did anyone see the prayer rug in Jephte and Shawniece’s house? My theory is that Jephte is a devout Muslim and wanted to be respectful of Shawniece until she was no longer a “stranger.” He did say that he didn’t want to sleep with her too quickly.

When those 2 couples met at the beach, Molly (in the interview) said something like, “Jephte looks good” with a smile. I’m starting to think that this show is afraid to pair black people with non-black people though. Or maybe people sign up saying that they don’t date interracially because their parents wouldn’t accept it.
-
Didn’t the show fake us out with the nighttime/bedtime scenes? In two of the couples rooms the alarm clock said that it was after 5 o’clock. There is no way that these couples left the beach and went to bed at 5pm nor 5am. I think that they made them wake up at 5am, and pretend to be just walking in and going to bed.

It still seems like people are equating Shawniece’s straight hair with her looking prettier though.

For those who mentioned Shauneice’s hair change at the honeymoon. I agree with the poster who said that all she did was wet her hair. It was flat ironed for the wedding. Yes, she has been seen in wigs, but that (at the honeymoon) is what her real hair looks like growing out of her head. Black woman are often shamed for wearing wigs and weaves, then when they “wear” their own hair, it is like a catch 22.

It’s around April because of the flyer that that boy forged that gave out the free haircuts or whatever at the salon. The flyer said that it was an Easter promotion.

I feel so sad for Shaun that Lea is moving. I know how hard it is to make new friends, then to have them leave. Also, when Lea told Shaun to kiss her, it reminded me of the scene when Jenny made Forrest Gump touch her breast. Innocent “older” guys are so cute.

The firefighter is super annoying. I can barely watch him. -
I was confused for a minute. This is from the new 2017 episodes, right?

Patrick and Miriam: Making a Cameo in Paris, Italy

Yeah, but in English "driver" sounds like her pronunciation of "river" too. So, I can see how that would be a hard thing to remember. -
They must only choose people who are willing to get engaged during their first meetup in person. Otherwise, they might find a couple who wants to take years of online interaction before becoming engaged. I think that is why people like Larry, besides being desperate, are considering engagement after only 2 months.

Larry & Jenny: Not Good Enough for the Pilot
Deni replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I feel sorry for Larry. His son said that he would probably never date again if this doesn't work out. He probably has depression. Many of these people probably do, but he actually seems like he does. Side-note: Larry reminds me of a bald Lin-Manuel Miranda. -

Could her secret be as simple as not being able to leave France for some reason? -
Russ always speaks like he is a bad actor reading from a script. I think that the producers are telling him to be upset about the lingerie issue because they needed a storyline for the season.

Did anyone notice that Karine said that she likes "light-skinned" men? I know that Brazil has some issues with colorism, but that statement still stood out to me. Perhaps she equates light skin with wealth.

Yeah, she's really superficial, and he's not. She'll really have to tone it down or he's going to really start resenting her.
