  1. I was wondering if Elizabeth would tell Claudia the specific warning that Phillip gave to Kimmie about visiting communist countries. Apparently she figured that would be a death sentence. Did I miss something? The show intro splash said "violence".
  2. Might Kimmie mention to her father the bizarre warning she got from a friend? That would set off all of his alarm bells. The KGB "inside guy" might hear about it and the KGB would surely put out a contract on Phillip. They would try to make it look accidental so as to not freak out Paige. Could they actually ask Elizabeth to do it? Hopefully, Phillip survives the attempt, maybe grabs up Henry and heads for an FBI office far from DC. F the KGB, F Elizabeth, F the travel agency and lives happily ever after in Witness Protection.
  3. One of the future episodes, second last, is titled "Jennings, Elizabeth". Sounds like the beginning of a Death Notice in the Falls Church newspaper.
  4. I've seen more coherent story lines on The Three Stooges. Goodnight, all; the dogs want to go out and hunt critters.
  5. Yet another flaw in the writing. And when do you suppose our favorite little genius, Paige Jennings, will read about the dead security guards at that factory? Was it mass suicide on the same night that mom when in? This season has already tied the record low viewership. They're gonna break that record soon.
  6. E is preparing Paige for State, CIA or DOD? Seriously? Is that why she takes her along on a burglary at a guarded facility? Also, I thought that P was out of the business but he's still working Kimmy. Paige doesn't question why the General commits suicide at a covert meet. The writing is getting pretty thin.
  7. Henry ain't recruitable.
  8. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise! The FBI hasn't gotten anything useful from the airport rest room x-rays.
  9. If the artist dies Elizabeth will show up at the funeral, offer sympathy and "call me if you need to talk", if he doesn't call she'll find an excuse to contact him. It wont be hard for her to get in his pants and keep him interested until the big summit.
  10. It was portable x-ray machine. Notice how Hockey Guy leaned way back before giving the flushing signal.
  11. How many times can a courier take a dump immediately after picking up the diplomatic pouch before someone gets suspicious?
  12. P lies to E, E lies to P. Yeah, this is definitely a till-death-do-us-part marriage.
  13. They are never recruiting Henry and if they know what's good for them they won't try. Henry is an American. He's not looking for a cause, he's looking for the American dream and he's already on the road to get there. If they want to try, it better be with a really hot girl, I'm talking 'Playmate of the Month' material. I wouldn't be so sure of Paige staying with the cause, she didn't stick with Jesus too long. If she is at an airport with Moonies or Hare Krishnas we might never see her again.
  14. Has anyone done a body count on each season?
  15. Season 1, for example, was much better in its use of music. In episode 1, 'Tusk' during the abduction of Timoshev, 'In the air tonight' when P&E disposed the body and then made out in the car, 'Queen of Hearts' when P did his cowboy boot dance, 'April Wine' when P beat up the pervert and 'Tusk' again when Stan breaks into P&E's garage. Ending season 1 with 'Games without Borders' was absolutely perfect.
  16. No. If she knows why never let P&E know? Obvious answer she would have been instructed not to. Then what would the purpose be? It would only jeopardize P&E if she is ever caught. Likewise telling P&E would only jeopardize Stan's GF (I forget her name) if they are ever caught. Mutual ignorance seems to be the safest strategy.
  17. In the real world there would have been a lot more blood and a lot more time before he goes tango uniform from that stab. And, yes, she did leave the knife in his neck.
  18. I think Phillip was about to tell her everything he knew. After her performance, he may thing twice about that when she is finally ready to listen.
  19. My random thoughts: The music sucked, it sucked in the 80's and still does. The marriage is over for all practical purposes. I wonder if Henry got to go to that elite school? The writers appear to be doing much better this year than last. Nevertheless, it is depressing and I don't foresee a happy ending. My prediction: At some point this season Stan will close in on the Jennings family. He's going to track down that necklace that Martha left behind and find a credit card flimsy with Phillip Jennings on it.
  20. It was necessary with Hans to contain the virus. Here she had a choice, her daughter or the Navy guard.
  21. Paige will hear about the dead Navy security officer. It won't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. She will not take it well.
  22. In the episode where Martha is exposed a necklace was bagged during the FBI search of her apartment. Phillip originally got it from Elizabeth to use as a peace offering to Martha. Stan can be like a dog going back to gnaw on and old bone when it comes to evidence. Maybe he traces it to a manufacturer, jewelers in the DC area who carried it, searched their customer lists and found Phillip Jennings' name. He isn't taking this info back to the office immediately. There are dozens of ways for the story to unfold at that point. I also think that all of the dangling threads of season 5 are there only to give the writers wide latitude in wrapping the story up. I recently re-watched the first 4 seasons on Amazon, not even tempted to re-watch season 5.
  23. There is a new twist on an old character: the nameless person(s) at "The Center" who is orchestrating this play. It is obvious now that they have more than one cell of illegals who do not have knowledge of the others. They have info on Renee from P&E's reports and info on P&E from Renee's reports. It's just little bits and pieces but that is exactly the kind of puzzle pieces they put together every day. They have 5 different snapshots of Paige, Henry and the Jennings family dynamics from P, E, Gabriel, Claudia and Renee. They should have concluded that Paige is still an excellent candidate for a 2nd generation illegal. They also know they have a potential gold mine in Kimmy's father. The Jennings family going "home" will destroy all of that. They can't outright refuse the request but will try to find incentives to stay. They were able to get Pastor Tim to South America. They have known about Henry's high geek aptitude for a while. Could Henry's GF possibly be another 2nd generation illegal "in training" and the fancy prep school scholarship another behind the scenes move to keep the Jennings clan in America? P&E haven't admitted it yet but going "home" will destroy Henry. P's idea of telling Henry the truth just before they cross the frontier into the Eastern Block is absurd.
  24. It looks like they are not going "home" real soon. P didn't toss the tape. Who could they pass off Kimmy to? Tuan? No way she goes for him. But why keep spinning the Martha story line? OK, maybe she adopts the cute little orphan girl and runs into her "husband" sometime next season? I can't imagine he'd go back without his family. I am surprised that neither P or E has brought up the fact that they are/were planning to do to Henry exactly what Pasha's parents did to him. I am now willing to bet that Stan's GF is really Directorate S based on her gentle but obvious push for Stan to remain in counterintelligence. Paige has all but stated she wants to be a 2nd generation illegal. I'll grade the seasons: 1 A+, 2 A, 3 C, 4 C-, 5 D+. I guess all of these TV dramas slowly go downhill. I loved "Orphan Black" for the first 2 years but probably wont even watch this year. I'll watch the 1st episode of The Americans this fall but if they are back in the USSR I am out of there.
  25. If Season 5 had been the first season there never would have been a second. Paige has transitioned from Jesus to Marx. She is ready to be the Center's precious 2nd generation illegal. If they figure this out they will not let the family return "home". They would have to drag Henry kicking and screaming. He has a GF, a school and they don't have anything close to a Camaro Z28 in the Soviet Union. Maybe Stan could adopt him. Good chance they (and Tuan) have butchered another innocent. I don't think the KGB was tipped on any of Oleg's treasonous activities, I'm guessing they are trying to frame him to get control of his father. So Sophia's fiancée is KGB? Or not? I guess I'm hooked enough to watch one more episode but I am not optimistic.
