In regards to Dean pointing a gun at the girl I was wondering whether it came down to the fact that Dean was so disgusted with himself for by what he feels he did, breaking his life long code of always looking after his family, that he lost himself.

I am finding Dean absolutely riveting to watch. He is telling a complex psychological human story. I personally find his story much more interesting and engaging rather than any of the supernatural story lines or the special boys with their special powers. Thankfully JA is a subtle enough actor to portray the inner workings of his mind and in that scene with him pulling a gun on the girl, you can actually feel his desperation and panic. I also appreciate the fact that they don't shy away from showing Dean behaving like an asshole but if you have been following the this show in its entirety you know that its OOC for him and should be clear that he is in a terrible state. It is showing that he is very human! That said I don't really care if its going to make other viewers see him as an asshole coz I don't watch for them.

I can't believe people are bitching so much about this. As far as I am concerned its a bit of fun stunt casting in a show that is 13 seasons old and nearing its end!

Wow what a depressing episode made even more tragic by JA's beautiful acting. Dean would be dead if it weren't for someone else deciding that he wasn't allowed to finally rest but that he had to shoulder yet another burden. It is sad that Dean only sees his worth in what he can do for others. Sam was so intent on Lucifer's son and proving he was right that he failed to notice his own flesh and blood was slowly drowning. The sad irony of it is that I bet Jack feels he matters, Sam made sure of that

I am sorry but I am going to have to jump into the shallow end of the pool but holy crap is this man good looking! And add to that his face is so frigging expressive, it just adds to his performance and makes his performance even more magnetic!

Can someone please explain to me why Sam thinks Dean had a better relationship with Mary and why he is blaming Dean for reaching out to her only to be ignored and betrayed by her. If I remember correctly Sam was the one who teamed up with her and the BMOL and who shared more intimate moments with her. So instead of putting the blame with Mary, the person who was actually the reason why Sam felt their relationship was lacking, he lashes out at Dean. On another note I love the fact that Dean is self aware enough that he can recognize when is behavior is being hurtful and is big enough to acknowledge the fact

I am loving the portrayal of dean, I love the fact that Jensen is going for it. Grief is not pretty, it is not logical, it is raw, painful and can be hurtful. I love that he is not playing for sympathy by woobifying his behavior. People are going to hate him, plenty already are, but it is realistic and riveting to watch. Yeah it sux to be jack and on the receiving end but that's life and I am sure Dean will make it up to him. And these are not real people so I don't have to worry about if a fictional characters feelings are hurt and I can just sit here and appreciate the beauty and complexity of Jensens acting

I love how people were expecting a guy who had just returned from what was basically a horrific war zone where he had to fight for his life 24/7 for an entire year to come back with no psychological issues. Why wasn't Sam expected to be more understanding. But once again Dean is expected to put his own issues aside and put Sam first. Where is the support for a guy who has spent the last year running and fighting for his life?

I personally think Sam is meant to be the lead character of the story. Everything happens to Sam and if something happens to Dean, the story focusses on the effects it has on Sam. Whether the writing manages a good portrayal of the story is entirely another matter but I don't watch for the writing. I watch for the amazing acting prowess of Jensen Ackles, his ability to fully flesh out a character and give him little quirks and nuances that make him a 3 dimensional character. The way he brings us into the world of Dean Winchester and invites us to ride an emotional roller coaster with him. That's why I love his response to Berens about writing that he cries doing a scene. If the scene leads to Dean crying he is not afraid to go there but he is not going to go there just because the writer thinks it will look cool

I have no problem with how Dean is behaving and that he is off his game. The person who held a special, almost pure place in his heart has flat out rejected him. His brother has once again chosen someone over him(and doesn't seem to see them as a team) and then lied to him. I don't know if that's what the writers were going for but thanks to JA for being able to play what is not written, Dean is clearly floundering. Added to this, this poor guy is basically an 80 year old man who has spent more time in hell than he has been on earth. He has led a violent brutal life from the age of four and the times when he has needed the most support he hasn't had any(his return from both hell and purgatory). I think this latest season is the straw that finally broke the camel's back.
