  1. Jamie telling Claire about Willy completely threw me for a loop. Huge change from the book! I liked the episode overall, but I was kind of hoping for the plot to move forward a bit more. I was not at all expecting that ending!
  2. I think Roger meant that if their theory about the passage of time was correct, if Claire went through the stones that day, they article would have been 1 year old. So it's very possible Jamie would still be the printer A Malcolm.
  3. We don't learn about that until It's first mentioned in Voyager when
  4. Am I the only one who read Voyager and never thought about the bones again once that scene with Joe was over? It wasn't until years later when I started reading message boards online that I realized anyone thought the bone scene was anything more than just a conversation with Claire and Joe (that happened to have bones in it).
  5. I know you're right. But I also know that much of what we, as book readers (especially if we've read all the books), are remember is so much more than just what we read in voyager. So much of what I remember about Claire's story was no in the first few chapters of Voyager. Rather, it was told at some other point in the book, either as Claire thinking and reflecting or in a story she told Jamie. I know that Jamie's role at Ardsmuir is crucial to the story later, but much of that was told to the readers in book 5-7, as more people joined them on the the ridge. So, much of what I know about their time apart, I didn't know about when I read Voyager the first time. But you might remember Voyager better than I do. I only read it twice. I realize I'm on a message board with people who have read it 10 or more times :-)
  6. Right, but that's the way it has to be. If Claire lives the rest of her natural life with Jamie, she is going to die before she is born. No way around that. I don't understand why you are saying it's impossible. We know for a fact that this is true of Geillis Duncan. She was born in the 20th Century and died in the 18th Century. Her bones were found in the 20th Century, but they were still on the earth during all of the 20th Century, including the period in which she was born and grew up and before she went through the stones. So she was dead and alive at the same time in the same time. I know in the books they say you can't be alive at the same time as another version of yourself, but you have to be able to be alive at the same time that your bones are resting in the ground.
  7. Why can't they exist twice? Suppose Claire does die in the 18th century. Where would her bones go?
  8. I kind of liked that scene only because I felt like the show was making Frank a bit too sympathetic. I kind of liked seeing him in a less favorable light, as I did not remember feeling sympathetic towards him when I read the books. I realize that's partly because I was judging everything through the select memories Claire chose to share with us, but I had no sympathy for book Frank. I like having an excuse to lack sympathy for show Frank :-)
  9. I'm going to have to re-watch this because I was a bit distracted. I kept wondering, is this the moment they'll fade to black? I thought it would be the bell, then I thought it would be her walking in, then maybe after we hear Jamie's voice ... but we actually got to see Jamie faint! It was perfect!!!
  10. Oh, me too! And after she walked through and Jamie said something, I kind of expected the screen to go to black. When they actually showed Jamie, I did a little happy dance!
  11. I'm pretty sure that was something they (Jenny & Ian?) told Claire. No reason they have to do that in the show, but they might choose to show it as a flashback.
  12. Really? I had no pain and an orgasm my first time. I always thought the reason some women had pain was because they were frightened or didn't know what to expect (and were therefore dry). If you are excited, your body produces moisture, so there would be no pain. Geneva was definitely excited, so I fully expected her not to have any pain. Bree only believed her after she saw Geillis Duncan go through the stones. So she had "proof" that her mom was telling the truth.
  13. Claire told Jamie about the assisted suicide, so it was a flashback for the book reader rather than something we learned about before Claire went through the stones. Most of what we know about Joe is via flashback. But there was definitely something up with that scene. Why was Claire so troubled? What was she thinking about? She did get off the phone very quickly (just a bit rude). My guess is she was thinking about the assisted suicide, even if we aren't told about it yet.
  14. I believe TOOLAZY meant that that exact clip may not have been in the Season 2 Finale, but that didn't really matter because Claire and Bree still had a conversation about Jamie. Did you see the Season 2 Finale? If you didn't, you really should.
  15. I had that same thought. I thought he wasn't capable, also. Did they imply that in the books? I think they did ... maybe in the scene in the kitchen where everyone is gossiping and Jamie just wants to know whether or not his child is alive.
  16. In the book Claire went back to Boston before they found Jamie. They called her to tell her to come back to Scotland. Bree stayed in Scotland. I'm curious as to why Bree goes back to Scotland. At least I hope she does. My guess (as to why the change) is that they were trying to end the episode on a sad, hopeless note. Will Jamie ever see his son again? Will Claire ever find Jamie? No idea how this will play out, but so far I haven't been disappointed by the changes.
  17. Sadly, you could be right. But there are times a clip ends up in the theme song and never gets used. There was a shot last season (of Clair driving) that I could never find. I guess that's pretty minor compared to the tartan.
  18. I was wondering about this, too. Do you think she could say that the baby suddenly started breathing as Mary was taking him away to be buried? She did have the foresight to tell someone to dig a grave.
  19. Wasn't it Willie (MacKenzie?) in the books? It does come up in a later book.
  20. I agree with you that it is important for us to see Bree's childhood. I think it's also important to see how these events shaped Claire. The person we saw at the end of Season 2 is not the same person Jamie sent through the stones. It's interesting how so much of the story in the books is told in flashbacks. So much of what we learn of Bree's childhood is told in snippets throughout the rest of the books. I wonder how much will be included this season.
  21. My husband was born in 1964. My mother-in-law mentioned being put under for his birth. She said it didn't really make sense, as the most difficult part is actually the labor, not the delivery. But that's what they did.
