  1. Argh, so we will likely get to see the Legion fight in 3x10, but not fight *with* Supergirl? I'm feeling seriously blue balled by the story in that regard. I don't see how the Legion could confront Reign without Kara without somebody from their ranks getting killed.
  2. BBC Radio Interview with Amy Jackson (Saturn Girl) She talks about fan reception, her character's powers and getting to do flying scenes. No, that paparazzi guy from twitter still insists that it's all a lie and they will start filming much later and not in January.
  3. Yahoo! Entertainment: 'Supergirl' Fans Launch Petition to Protest 'Absurd' 2018 Schedule Change TIL Yahoo still exists.
  4. The thing is, who is going to do that? Queller and Rovner just don't strike me as strong/passionate enough about anything. And Berlanti to me doesn't come across like he has any emotional investment in Supergirl. So I doubt he would care. The upcoming Brainiac 5 episode, I doubt they are going to change much there, it's been written and finished for a while and still very much from a time where Kreisberg still had his position. To me Queller/Rovner seem at the most to care about Sam, so if something changes, I could picture it being that maybe originally she was supposed to die and maybe now she won't. Which might be good for Alex if they scrap the whole Alex getting a kid thing. Or not. Depending on where that plot comes from. I could see them de-emphasizing the whole triangle aspect this season, but then again, to me the triangle comes across as pretty de-emphasized already. Marti Noxon and Julie Plec are like my two goto names when it comes to "female show runners are not a ward against shitty misogynist writing" Speaking of shitty showrunners ... I wonder if Shannara Chronicles will get a third season and if not, what Gough and Millar will do next. (add them as another bullet I hope will be dodged)
  5. Yeah, I have trouble buying that the story is like Ken describes. I'm just confused why he seems to be so sure of it. Even if the situation was different and they don't want the episodes, as was described here it seems hard to buy that they would risk the shooting schedule for it. And if there are no legal problems in regards to "they can't use this legally because Kreisberg came up with it", then there's really no reason why they couldn't just try to rewrite stuff over the holidays if that's what they really want and just shoot whatever they can in January. However if that is the case, then we still don't have an explanation for why Supergirl is interrupted by Legends other than that's what the CW wants. I've always seen Rip and Sara as the defacto leads of Legends. It's just the leads on Legends doesn't necessarily translate to most screentime all the time. It's more like Captain Picard on Star Trek versus Riker and Data. Picard was the lead but Data in particularly still got a lot of episodes dedicated to him. I always find it a bit sad how often I run into people who suggest that Legends should be "improved" by focusing on fewer characters and few main storylines. Which to me would kind of ruin what makes Legends so unique, it would make it basically like all the other shows.
  6. Yep, he does have various "story by" credits on both shows. Including both first episodes of the current season. But that's the interesting thing, he hasn't received any "Story By" credits at all for Supergirl or Flash since the opener. So not the Legion showing up, not Reign finding a Fortress in the desert, not the various DeVoe deals. So whatever he was doing, it didn't rise to the level of Story By. So it's weird to me that Ken calls him the main idea guy for Supergirl when whatever he did doesn't rise to Story By. My theory is that he might have been really involved with the whole Crossover and hence no Story Bys anymore for either Flash or Supergirl. The question is: is that what Ken describes realistic, that they would be blocked from shooting episodes that he didn't even have "Story By" levels of involvement? I have no problem buying that he might have plotted the season finale, but they are very far from shooting those episodes. Ken suggests that they might be forbidden from shooting 14, 15 etc and that's why they have these weird schedule where after Supergirl episode 13 they will air Legends episodes. Because Supergirl might have to rewrite 14, 15 etc. To me this seems really unlikely, because again, Kreisberg overall doesn't have that many Story By credits. He didn't have any Story By credits for any of the major Reign episodes this season. I could maybe picture him considering the Legion stuff important enough to script himself, but the Legion episodes ARE not the ones affected, they are the ones that have already been shot. We know 15 is supposed to be the Winn backstory/Toyman episode and I have a hard time buying that Kreisberg cared enough about that subject matter to plot that one (he didn't plot the season 1 Toyman episode either). So basically what Ken describes sounds very weird to me, so I was wondering whether the setup he describes really is realistic. IMO it would be one thing if the writers wanted to change some things now that Kreisberg is gone (but I doubt that they would ever let that affect the shooting schedule because as people have noted that is beyond costly and problematic to organize), but what they are describing is that they HAVE to because they are not allowed to use his material, to the extent that they can't shoot in January because they have to rewrite episodes that were already written and already have a shooting plan, which in turn requires Supergirl to go on hiatus in favor of Legends because their episodes won't be ready. BTW, I have nightmares that with The Originals ending Supergirl might get some of their people as new/added showrunners. I hope that if they add somebody, it will be somebody with comic book sensibiliities. Because neither Queller nor Rovner really give me the vibe that they are strong on the nerd cred. I just worry that it's gonna be hard to find somebody who has comic book sensibilities AND cares about female characters and about Supers. Considering how widespread the whole "oh no, Superman is too nice and powerful, that makes him boring" mentality is. I don't think Berlanti cares about Supergirl at all. He seems like more of a Flash guy. And with Ali Adler's new show getting picked up, I doubt she would come back.
  7. It would certainly make more sense if it was more something like "They can't use the episodes where he suggested the arc without giving him his producer credit and they really, really want to remove his producer credit". But then again, I have no idea how entertainment contracts actually work. But that just seems more reasonable to me than "they can suddenly never use the plot twist he suggested during the planning phase and have to come up with something completely different for the season climax". He definitely wrote a lot more for Flash. As for Ralph, consider this interview where Kreisberg compared Ralph to Faith from Buffy. So yeah, he was definitely involved with that aspect. So the only thing I can picture if he was less influential in the plotting of the DeVoe arc (who is DeVoe, what is his motivation, Barry in Jail Arc, how is DeVoe brought down).
  8. Ken seems to interpret it stopping one week earlier than the others as halting. But they were definitely still shooting after AK was fired. It still seems nuts to me that there would really be such a contract that forbids them from shooting episodes he created the outlines for. And we are not even talking concrete "idea by" or "teleplay by" but vague structure like "Okay there is Sam and she's a nice person and by episode 4 there is a mysterious cult and by episode 7 Sam transforms and by episode 9 she beats Kara to a pulp so in episode 12 they go to Fort Rozz to talk to the person behind Reign and by episode X Reign murders the Legion of Superheroes and by episode Y they find this macguffin and in episode Z something happens to Ruby and in episode A Reign tries to murder Morgan Edge and in episode B Kara defeats Reign using the Macguffin" and suddenly they can't use the MacGuffin they set up in previous episodes to defeat Reign because he came up with it? They are shooting 13 now. I don't think that he personally wrote any more episodes for Supergirl other than the crossover, where he was involved in all 4 crossover episodes. I'm pretty sure 14, 15 and such must be written already because they already cast Winn's mother for 15. And now they supposedly can't shoot 15 even if the actual episode was written by somebody else? Doesn't somebody own that script? I also have a hard time buying that he wasn't that involved in Flash season 4. He definitely did a lot of promotion for it at the beginning of the season and talked a lot about his hopes for the season, creating Breacher, many people have commented on Ralph feeling like a very Kreisberg style character. Maybe they mean he wasn't as involved in plotting out the DeVoe arc compared to plotting out the Reign arc? But wouldn't all of that be a cooperative effort? http://ew.com/tv/2017/10/03/flash-season-4-premiere-spoilers/
  9. So Ken on twitter claims: Is that a standard contract thing? Could he in theory block them from using the characters he created like Alex and Diggle if he was feeling petty?
  10. Wait, so Torvey says we'll get more Ray/Leo, but Leo won't be in the cartoon? So what script made him almost cry? The crossover or will he come and pick Leo up in 11 or something? And our best guess for the Valor replacement is Life Sentence, correct?
  11. But as you admit yourself, he DID have screentime. And why is it actually a good thing that he wasn't propping Kara, but instead he was talking about his own problems? Most fans of a character want them to get a storyline of their own rather than propping other characters. I really, really, really doubt that James had more screentime this season than he had last season during Guardian. Just because it's not the kind of screentime you enjoy doesn't mean that it's not screentime. And the treatment of James at CatCo has been awful. He wasn't allowed to talk to anybody about his supposed feelings for Lena. They gave him scenes with no follow up, like him reacting to Lena buying CatCo. IMO it's very telling that the writers still have zero interest in James at CatCo based on the fact that they started off the romance with Lena NOT by let's say them bonding over uncovering a cool lead on a story or by maybe her admiring one of his photographs. Instead it's him pulling out the Guardian again this season. It's pretty clear that the writers still consider James at CatCo useless because when they try to raise his prestige to be able to date Lena they reach back to Guardian rather than having them bond over CatCo related stuff. Because to them action!James has value while CatCo!James doesn't. I think the writers never really cared about CatCo or journalism. They just liked Cat. THE season where CatCo was actually important Kara wasn't actually a journalist. Even Kara doesn't actually care about journalism, she spent a season at CatCo as an assisstent and then Cat had to force her to pick a real job and even then Kara didn't know what to actually pick. And of course all the times where she quits it or gets fired. The show never cared about journalism and hence Kara doesn't actually care about journalism and hence doesn't actually care about CatCo. IMO what they should have done this season is introduce another female mentor character. Not one who is just like Cat to replace her. But just somebody to serve a comparable role while being very different in personality.
  12. I really, really disagree. Mon-El was gone and James and Winn still had terrible to non-existing storylines. Kara "forgetting" Winn and James over her supposed new "friendship" with Sam and Lena being the perfect example of it. At least last season James and Winn had a storyline, this season Winn ONLY does exposition dumping. They could have used this time productively to instead have James and Kara talk about his growing interest in Lena instead of trying to force a quickie friendship on Sam and Kara that is not believable in the slightest. Why do they have to be best friends? Why can't they just be friendly and polite acquaintances. It's just bad writing. Kara could still be shocked that this person who she only knew as nice is a badguy and she could still be really saddened by it just on account of knowing that Sam has a daughter she dearly loves. And I'm not saying now is much better, I think this whole Legion stuff is handled badly too. I think they should try to build this up as a mystery. Us sitting around wondering why Mon-El is acting so weird is not compelling writing. If there is some more to it, tip your hand to the audience while the characters are clueless. If there's no twist to it, then why are the scenes held so emotion free? This is unappealing to the shippers and unappealing to the non-shippers because Mon-El is still getting "relationship" screentime. Why isn't the DEO actively trying to find out about the other people in the pod? Why aren't Imra and Mon-El more active in trying to be helpful in the whole Reign mystery? Rather than us watching him canoodle with a wife we don't care about and who doesn't even have "omg, I loved them together in the comics" going for her. Kara could still be working with them proactively and then be saddened all of a sudden when she sees them, rather than those overwrought staged moments that are only about relationships and don't do anything to drive the plot forward and deepen the mystery. I think the writers are really borking up this season and imo a huge part of it is that they are mishandling the Reign story. Telling rather than showing us that Kara and Sam are friends. Having Sam be a villain without any inner drive or agency, she doesn't even want to be evil. And even the Sam part of it, so she has blackouts but rather than that being used to show her scared and trying to investigate what is happening, she just ignores it? This is not normal relatable behavior.
  13. You know somebody did the actual math on that and actually Mon-El was only in 32% of Kara's screentime in season 2. Alex was in 27% of Kara's screentime. And in season 1 she was in 25% of Kara's screentime. So actually, percentagewise Kara and Alex had more screentime together in season 2 than in season 1... I have no problem with people disliking Mon-El, but a lot of the things claimed about him are just not true. Kara acting like her friendships with Winn and James exist, while talking to a character she barely interacted with was just terrible writing. When she praised Sam and Lena for helping her through a rough year, all I could think of was: when? When is Sam supposed to have done that? They have barely every talked, let alone about personal things. And in the premiere they explicitly said that Kara DIDN'T talk to Lena about the Mon-El situation in the time the show was off screen. I know people want female friends for Kara, but the writing is just so fake here.
  14. I think a speedster will be an odd match for Legends powerwise, but it would be interesting to see. The show did imply that Wally and Nate worked together before while the Legends were on their hiatus.
  15. She got divorced a year or so ago. Well if i has to be kid, Ruby seems to be better than most, because the actress is decent and as Reign's daughter maybe they worry that she will develop superpowers and go evil as she goes older and of course she will have angst over her mother having been evil. I too am disappointed that that this appears to be Alex main story for the season. I still think the show should have had the guts to create some sort of deeper central conflict between Kara and Alex, like Kara wanting more space or Alex becoming boss of the DEO or Alex hiding some sort of big secret from Kara again. Or have the reason for the Alex and Maggie breakup be Maggie accusing Alex of always putting Kara first. People are so in love with Kara and Alex being supportive sisters, but it's pretty clear that there is much less story there than if the show actually went for conflict. That would more easily sustain them through a longer story arc. Alex being around just to give Kara peptalks and worry about her is just ... empty.
  16. But that isn't what it was like on the show. The torpedos happened in the premiere. The person in the pod, presumably Mon-El wasn't shown to be moving till episode 4, where Chad Lowe detonated the Kryptonian probe. Continuity error? Or there being more to the story than Mon-El and Imra admit? There's also Imras kind of weird acting at the end of this episode about being sure that Kara will be fine. Bad acting or a hint of something sketchy?
  17. So, Caity also seemed to be kind of waving off Ava being Sara's love interest. So if the new person is Wally and Ava is not the love interest, who is the love interest?
  18. That was so weird! Like this story about the ribs, that never happened on screen in season 2. They literally told us 1 episode ago (not counting the crossover as a proper story) and Mon-El was the one who brought up the story. So he tells the story and his first idea is, I should take Imra there too? I don't even know whether that is supposed to be insulting of Mon-El and Kara or Mon-El and Imra, but it's just ... weird. Like what do the writers aim to accomplish with this? I mean other than giving Melissa Benoist the chance to act very sad.
  19. It would be a bit odd since Sara just announced in the crossover that she's ready to move on from Nyssa, but if the opportunity opened itself, hey, I'm all for it.
  20. I don't believe the story about them showing up from the future by accident either. And what is this big evil in their time that they were referring to? All I hope that this doesn't turn into a story where Imra dies to Mon-El can learn a life lesson. Even all the mind control speculation would be preferable to that (not that I think that that is too likely).
  21. So Caity Lotz talked about a new member joining the Legends and she seemed super excited about it and acted kind of mysterious. Nyssa? Laurel?
  22. Any theory on the new character who is joining the Legends that Caity was talking about? Sorry for the tumblr link but I couldn't find it anywhere else.
