This one was really silly. Ray's plot didn't work at all. A random teenage boy can attend a childbirth - with no mask - and would even want to? Maya and Melanie doing "I Love Lucy" shtick? Well at least we got some evil glares from JJ. Hopefully they get the heart back soon- CY tweeted that Kenneth and JJ have a heartfelt scene in the Christmas show.

It's nice to see Ray get a win - and a break from looking foolish. Better than last year's Halloween show, which I also enjoyed.
-
I liked it. Hopefully they'll follow a timeline and tone down the yelling - and the characters won't turn into ridiculous cartoons like another once-great ABC family did. They did a nice job of distinguishing the boys, though the one looks too much like the one from The Real O Neals.

Trying to stay positive, but those terrible numbers are really troubling. Even with future ownership I don't see how ABC can drag it to 100 (or even 88) episodes with a 0.4. Since ABC has little interest in it anymore except for syndie purposes I don't see it moving back to Tuesday or Wednesday - do they really want to build their comedy future on Single Parents and Splitting Up Together? I only hope it will tick up to a tolerable level when baseball is over. It should have aired after The Middle from the beginning.

There's an open slot on Tuesdays now (RIP Roseanne) so maybe one of these shows will get an upgrade. They should be able to do more with Ray next season since Mason Cook will be 18 and freed from the child hours.

Is Barry ever graduating from high school?

Excellent news! I thought it would be renewed but it wasn't a slam dunk. Happy for the 22 as well. Now put it back on the air! Fresh Off the Boat next, please.

I loved it. I hope it's not the end of Taylor because I still want to find out what happened with Logan. I also hope we don't have to wait until the last minute to find out about renewal again this year. All the ABC comedies rose last night so that should be a good sign.

The double-pump could be a test to see if Speechless can stand on its own - with The Goldbergs now ABC's top comedy, I wonder if that would move to 9PM and Modern Family would move to 9:30 next fall. American Housewife has fallen way off since last fall - probably due to 911 - but it's one of theirs so it will be renewed. Something could go to Friday if they restore the comedy hour there.

Not a disaster, but not a great episode either. Too many plots. Jimmy's lines and scenes came off best. Kenneth's ex was uninteresting. Put Kenneth and JJ back together - they've barely had any plots this season. Ray's plot was juvenile - and it didn't go anywhere. The writers don't have to humiliate Ray every week, no matter how willing Mason is. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
-
So that leaves five episodes to jam in to the last four weeks - they'll probably end with a double.
-
They could rest The Middle for a week and double up on FOTB, or air FOTB on Wednesday for a week (like last year) to save The Goldbergs for the spring. I just hope they don't pair new Speechless with Goldbergs reruns. The 1/24 episode looks like some backdoor pilot with WMC that may or may not count against their episode order. I think FOTB and Speechless should be leading off Fridays as long as they can maintain the same numbers and ride to syndication since they're not expensive yet. Not happy about the cut episodes, but hopefully the cast gets paid for the full season.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/wednesday-final-ratings-dec-13-2017/ Finally, a slight ratings uptick - best showing since Oct 4!

And over the last two dismal weeks as well. Funny, heartwarming and down-to-earth - that's all I ask.

I think this is the worst episode since OSCAR PARTY - not a laugh to be had. It looked like something that was dictated by the network to "make it funnier". But all the shows have clunkers so I'll just hope for better things next week. I thought we finally get a good Ray/Kenneth plot, but they blew it - Kenneth barely appeared and it turned into another "make Ray look foolish" show. The Bachelor guy is of no relevance to me, but at least he was playing a character and not himself. Grade: F

You left out The Thing. I also liked it more than last year's Thanksgiving show, mostly because the guests were funnier. I can't wait to find out what the JJ/Logan incident was. The Goldbergs also used an Elton John tune last night.

M.C. Gainey! I really liked this one. I loved Ray trying to pair off Dylan and Kenneth, and Maya thinking there was hanky-panky going on with Ray and Taylor - and being disappointed that there wasn't. I hope we see Kenneth's new woman again. "I'm not here to educate anybody. All I want is to meet some girls and eat some candy." "I think it means what it says 'I don't respect you or your rules, and I want to make you a grandmother.'" "I feel like this could've waited" "She's single, ready to mingle, and, most importantly, she has spina bifida."

TV Grim Reaper has renewal odds at 85% - up from 80% last week: http://www.tvgrimreaper.com/2017/10/30/week-6-predictions-thebrave-likely-canceled/3076/

Well the ratings have already taken a hit this season, but hopefully it doesn't fall any farther. I still think OSCAR PARTY is the worst series episode to date - it just didn't work at all except for the teaser. I'd rather consider that non-canon. I remember CHOIR fizzled out at the end and THANKSGIVING was weak with too many guests, but it was the only major Kenneth/Ray plot I can remember (and it didn't work very well - try again, writers). Except for that one disaster and a few off-shows it's been a great run so far.
-
I loved it - I thought it was a lot of fun.
-
Agreed - this is my favorite episode of the season so far - and those were Micah's own stunts! I thought Ray and Brandon would team up and pull one over on Dylan at the end.

I liked the return of bully JJ, Jimmy in the wheelchair eyeballed by JJ ("I gave you the fancy one") and Ray's history as the family buttmonkey. Mason Cook nailed his scenes as always - I'd like to see Ray paired with Kenneth, which we haven't seen too often. Dylan and Kenneth also are a great combo.
