  1. At the time Bobby said that, Sam was souless and ruthless and Dean had been out of the game for a year. He even said "better hunter at the moment", which means "at the moment" and not overall and always.
  2. I think at some point in the future, the BMOL are going to go to far with their methods and it's going to cause some kind of conflict. One thing I'm not sure of, is the extent of what they know about Sam and Dean. They know about Castiel, but what about Crowley? Rowena? Garth? Benny? Sam's demon blood past and his powers? Are they going to go after the angels like Castiel? Do they know about the MOC and Dean being a demon at one point? These are things the BMOL seem to firmly stand against. I am kind of intrigued to see where it goes, because I don't think this partnership is going to last. I do think that Sam and Mary are being naive at this point.
  3. Technically, they both had to accept each other's choices through out the series at some point. Sam had no other choice than to accept the fact that Dean made that deal with the demon to save him. He didn't agree with it, but he moved on and decided he needed to help Dean as best he could. Just because Bobby tells Dean what a hero Sam has been, doesn't mean he doesn't also think of Dean as a hero. I took this to mean that Bobby has grown to see Sam as his own hero as well and not just an extension of the little brother of Dean. He sees them as the potential to be equal hunters. Dean has always been the leader of the two and has usually been the one to take charge. Accepting someone else's choices doesn't really have anything to do with taking the blame for an incident. You can love someone, disagree with what they're doing, be right about it, and still be able to move on from it and keep the relationship with that person. Accept it for what it is. I guess I just don't see how accepting someone else's choices means Dean is accepting all the blame for the apocalypse. To me, Sam was referring to his 'demon blood powers' when he was talking about being stronger and better than Dean in season 4. From my point of view, these powers proved to be more harmful than good when he killed Lilith and brought about the apocalypse with these powers. Kind of showing that Sam's 'gift' wasn't better than Dean in the end. It didn't bring anything good to the table. If he had of been successful in stopping the apocalypse with his powers, I could see the point. In the end, it wasn't his actual powers that stopped anything. I doubt the real Bobby would have said anything like that to Dean. He has said that Dean is his favourite. There is NO way he would cut him off. Not to mention, Dean did have a hand in breaking one of the seals and Bobby didn't say anything.
  4. Yes, it was the demon deal that eventually led to Dean breaking the first seal. I didn't see that narrative shift with Dean in season 5 personally. Dean only started to try and be supportive/work with Sam again once he realized where 'the end' could lead to. He decided to be team free will of his own accord. I didn't see it as admitting he was wrong or taking the blame of the apocalypse for being bossy. I saw Sam as asking him to treat him like an equal partner as a completely separate issue. I don't remember the blame of the apocalypse being brought up in that conversation but I could be forgetting it. Personally, I didn't think that was the reason why Sam drank the blood and bonded with Ruby in the first place. He sincerely thought his powers could stop Lilith.
  5. I got the impression that he was planning to talk with Dean about it in the near future. I don't know how he'd be able to keep that from Dean because the two of them usually work together. I think Dean would start to wonder where Sam is all of a sudden if he starts disappearing for hours at a time. So hopefully this isn't drawn out. I was happy that we hadn't seen a 'feud' between the two for a while.
  6. Oh I totally agree. They were completely unaware that their actions were leading to the very thing they wanted to avoid. I was just glad that when 'Bobby' said those things to Sam, that it wasn't actually him. Only a Demon that was possessing him because when I watched it the first time, I was thinking... weren't they all trying to figure out how to kill Lilith and stop her from breaking the seals?
  7. It's interesting to see everyone's different takes on things, because I don't see this at all. Take the apocalypse for example. Dean was right about Sam's involvement with Ruby and him using his powers. Sam ended up starting the apocalypse instead of stopping it. Come season 5, it was quite clear to me that most people blamed Sam for the apocalypse..... not Dean even though Dean did break the first seal. That plot point was practically forgotten. The other hunters came for Sam. Not Dean. I don't remember anything that would point to Dean being blamed for the apocalypse in season 5.
  8. I think I might be in the minority on this board, but I was happy to see that Lucifer is still around and is being played by Mark now. TBH, I find Lucifer to be one of the more intriguing villains of the show, but at the beginning of this season, he seemed off. A lot different in other vessels, and I wasn't sure if I was digging that so much. I can understand why some people might think having Lucifer around some more could be a bit 'been there, done that' but I love the idea, especially since Mark is back. For this reason, I feel I can overlook the way they had Crowley bring him back to Nick's vessel. lol
  9. It may have started like that, but Cas and Deans friendship grew from there. To the point where Cas essentially betrayed the angels and helped Dean. In the end, Cas gave up on his ulterior motive for Dean.
  10. In my original post, I had referred to characters that gravitate towards Dean over Sam. I was referring more to bonds and friendships of recurring characters through the series, but I didn't initially specify that.
  11. I think the fact that they only knew him when he was souless, means they actually really didn't know him at all.
  12. I didn't really include any villains as I don't really think there were any true bonds made. With Ruby for instance, it was all pure manipulation on her part. I was also mostly referring to recurring characters. These characters are the ones they actually have time to bond with and actually form a friendship with. I don't know if I would include the Campbell's either. They worked with soulessSam and Samuel sold them out to Crowley so I don't think he cared much about him to begin with.
  13. That wasn't my intention. I know characters like Bobby, Charlie and Cas have a relationship with Sam. They just have a bigger bond with Dean is all. Most characters on the show do. Though it doesn't have to be entirely equal among the two characters, sometimes it just seems a little too one sided with whom the characters bond with more. At least for me. However, someone in this thread brought up Jodie, and I could definitely see her as being a character to possibly bond with Sam more.
  14. This could be true. I guess I never gave a thought to who Jodie could be closer to, but I could see it.
  15. I never said they all ignore Sam and fawn over Dean. I said they gravitate more towards Dean . Cas has said he has a bigger bond with Dean and that has never changed though he does think of Sam as a friend as well. Bobby has also said that Dean is his favourite. You also have characters like Charlie who has more bonding moments with Dean. Still friends with Sam though and of course Crowley who is much closer to Dean.
  16. I don't feel the need for everything to necessarily be equal between the two brothers. However, when it comes to the 'bigger or more prominent' villains, I always felt that it was actually Dean who got more of those kills. For example Azazel, Dick Roman, Abaddon, Ruby, The Steins, Caine, Zachariah, Death. Heck even Hitler. The only prominent ones I can think of off hand for Sam are Lilith, Famine and Alastair. Then of course you have Sam's part with Lucifer and Dean's part with Amara. Where both characters were ready to sacrifice themselves in order to set things straight. I had always just thought the reason for this was because Dean was always shown as the leader. More characters in the series gravitate towards him as well. I think if the writers were only pro Sam and not Dean, I think we would see more characters that tend to gravitate towards Sam. And since this is the bitterness thread, I must say I would like to see a character introduced that does gravitate more towards Sam for once. lol I feel it's a little one sided that they all pretty much prefer Dean.
