Both PD and Fire have decided to be in a Covid free alt-universe, haven’t they?

I'm strangely fine with that!  We've all had to live through it, so I'm good with every show not referencing it.  A mask here and there sporadically is all any show does with it, even the medical ones.

This episode would have been the perfect chance to have Halstead & Atwater team up. If they aren't going to do the 'relationship' stuff in an episode then split the teams up so they work with others.

Atwater always seems to get the short straw.

  3. It's great to see Jay evolving, at least a little!!  He's always been such a boy scout, so it's good that he was at least conflicted on what to do and actually had enough empathy for the dad to figure out a path forward that seemed true to his character.  Also great that there didn't seem to be any Upton/Jay "relationship" scenes, just normal partners.  Whole episode was straight case, so glad not to have all their personal lives dominate the episode.  I like the occasional personal life story, but not every damn episode!

  4. Hailey & Jay have as much chemistry as drying paint!!  Why can't the writers see that?  Didn't mean to insult paint!

There was one episode where she opened up about Daddy was not all that great, had a drinking problem, slapped her mom around, etc., so that whole hospital thing has some basis, but honestly I just don't care about her and her daddy issues.

  5. I just rewatched this episode before clearing it off my DVR.  I just can't get over how spectacularly bad that ending is with Jay & Upton.  Even though I knew it was coming, it was just cringeworthy!!  They didn't even look believable when they were kissing!!  I can just picture the director screaming cut while they were lip to lip with all the passion of my dog licking the screen door.

Maybe it’s not about loving Gabby more than Brett. Maybe it’s about being happy and having a chance at children and a family. Maybe, if he dates Brett and that relationship works out, Gabby becomes old news and Casey can finally move on. Brett’s not giving him that chance - which is fine, great, that’s totally up to her, but…they haven’t even gone on a date, and she’s requiring that he chooses her over a hypothetical Gabby return. That’s weird.

I think the writers kinda gave away the game with that, i.e., “Before Brettsey can actually happen, Gabby needs to be dealt with.” Well…no.

That's a valid point.  It did seem really awkward that she chose that moment to go there. But the 3 of them were so close that I think Brett is trying to preserve a friendship down the line, even if they don't work out.  If they had a fling and Matt/Gabby get back together, that's just ugly all the way around.    It would be better for the storyline if Gabby was just not a consideration anymore.  Even with Gabby out of the picture, there's no guarantee that Sylvie/Matt would work out, so they could still come up with a million drama filled story lines that don't lead back to her.  I think I'm just annoyed that she's been gone so long and they still mention her so much.

Because if I'm Casey, with the life he has right now, of being a 40-something roomie with no family to speak of and who usually looks miserable at his job, I might finally say "screw it" and go back to Gabby, too. What else does he have?

I would agree, but then he has to leave the show to go off with her. 😁 I don't want her back but I hate they way the writers won't just pull the plug on that whole saga.

8 seasons in.. I'm thinking they just don't listen.. I gotta imagine someone somewhere is pointing out that they seem to only use Kevin to break down doors and be the black guy... And that they keep ppl in little two ppl bubbles when its only 6 folks on the team anyway... I'm sure they've heard it by now.. But they keep chugging along and we keep watching.. So the ad money keeps coming in.  So why change

    Sad but true☹️

  9. Loved Kim in this episode!!  She was badass and vulnerable at the same time.  I think her and Adam have a nice balance and lots of chemistry.  Whether they end up together or not, they have good scenes together.

Halstead and Upton?  Just 🤢!  That last scene was absolutely pukeworthy.  Her saying she staying because of him while he did nothing to encourage her to stay was juvenile.  And is NY FBI the only place Chicago cops can go??  They could have made it DC or LA.  Wonder if the current writers even realize Erin left the same way.  That whole Jay/Hailey thing is just cringeworthy.

And Atwater might as well have been a bookshelf in this episode.  I would think he would have been helpful with the little girl.  I really wonder if writers ever think  of such common sense things.

  10. I was fine with Sylvie and Casey getting together, but do it or don't!  This prolonged high school angst is insulting and juvenile.  If Matt, is over Gabby, just tell Brett that and be done with it. But noooooooooooooooooooooooooo, we get weak, wounded Matt who could fix this with one sentence on how he's not pining for Gabby.  And if he is pining for Gabby, why the big bro talk with Severride?  Pick a lane writers!

  11. I got choked up  so many times during this episode!  I thought it was really well done.  Of course loved that they finally got married, but so many other really good small moments!  And that kiss with Mina and Theo (😄) was LONG overdue!  Warms my cold heart💗

  12. Well my sap-o-meter is on overload, but even so, I really did enjoy that.  Maybe Randall can finally find some peace now. But that lake scene at the end almost sent me into a sap coma!  So glad that Randall called Kevin, but yikes!!

  13. I liked this episode more than I thought I would.  I've been hate watching this show for so long, I forgot what it was like to actually care about what happened.  The musical montage at the beginning was bringing them into the 21st century, I would guess.  So many other shows do it, so they are following suit.

Finn getting married!!  I actually like to see him having a life.  I wonder if JE will be a regular now?  The personal stuff in the beginning was nice.  Didn't overshadow the episode.

Nice to see Barba!!  For once he was more sanctimonious than Benson

  14. Why the hell would Kate track down over 20+ years ago boyfriend?  Seriously??  Who does that?  The Kate storyline pissed me off so much I have to rewatch the other parts because  I was so aggravated with that.  I'm not a Kate hater, but I was close to screaming at the TV.

  15. This episode left me a little confused.  The first 2 episodes were really much better than the last couple seasons and i found myself liking the show again as opposed to just watching to clear out the DVR.  While a decent episode, I really hope they didn't introduce Joe (which they did really well) just to yank him out of the show!  That would be such a waste!  The character has really grown on me.  I really hope that's not the end of him.  All the melodrama for nothing! Agree with above poster who said the closing dinner scene was sad.  Good to see Jack, but really don't care if I ever see Nikki again.

  16. I really enjoyed this tonight, which is weird because I was ready to quit watching last season.  Not sure if it was really good or I'm just so desperate for new shows!  Nice touch with having Joe jump into the search for Danny and glad they didn't drop that storyline.

Does anyone else think Danny and Baez are going to start hitting it?  I freaked when she was his guest at dinner.

  17. Finally got my HBO Max working on the TV and binge-watched all 3 last night.  A fun watch!  Someone made the comparison to Dead To Me and I think that's pretty accurate.  Even though it's about a murder, it's funny as hell!  And yes, Cassie is a freaking mess, but an endearing one.

  18. Well. late to the party again!  Forgot this was on the DVR so wanted to watch before the new episode.

So, kinda entertaining and I will give it a few more episodes.  Like others, didn't see RP getting his head blown off at the end, but wonder if he's really dead?  But I can't imagine he could survive that.  Also thought the prostitute was trans, right away.  So the guy who plays Ronald has always given me the creeps and I hated him on Chicago PD, but this role seems better suited for him.  Sorry as I know there's a big fan upthread.  The girl that plays Cassie was in a show called Twisted a few years back and I always liked her, so it was good to see her.  People are so desperate for new shows, so I think the bar is really low to keep watching.

I noticed the throwaway comments on the pandemic.  I'd be fine if they just ignored it totally on most shows.  We've lived it, so no need to see it portrayed on every show.

That was funny.. It would be nice if she ends up not being antagonistic... And someone the team can actually use for help.. But her job and the way they do things makes that unlikely.... Unfortunately

Yes!!  She showed a few glimpses of being a decent person tonight so I hope that continues.  But she's really ambitious, so there's that.

  20. Some unusual humor tonight.

    New Supt:  Does this show?

Voight: It does (trying not to look)

New Supt:  Is it see though?

Voight: It is. (still trying not to look)

    So funny!
