  1. I mean, i KNOW he's not saying they don't still love each other. That those feelings turn off like a light switch? Or what? Like... what is the dude trying to prove here.
  2. But he doesn't have to evolve because of another person. This season is literally showing that (he's broken up with Felicity). He has to evolve for HIMSELF, for him to realize his true potential as a hero and the Green Arrow. I agree that people shouldn't have to change because of another person, if a person needs to change they need to do it because it's right for them. If it also helps grease the wheels of a relationship, then that's great, but that's more because that person is now finally ready to be in that relationship. Evolving is a personal thing. And it's a hero thing. It's literally part of the hero's journey. College courses study the classic hero's journey. Google it if you want some interesting reading.
  3. Of course Oliver is a nice guy! But being nice doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes. He has cheated in the past. He has lied. But those don't make him not a "nice guy". Those are flaws that he has to try to improve, not for a woman but because he owes it to himself. That's what we all signed up for when we started watching this show, seeing how this guy evolved into a fully realized hero.
  4. This right here. If he was where he needed to end up, why wouldn't the show end with season 5? He's alone as "he should be" and that's that. Obviously the intention in the story is for him to evolve, to be someone who can fight crime and be a partner and embrace all these sides of himself and inspire others to do more with their lives and help their city as he has helped it. I mean, certainly other people see this too, right? That this is the whole point of the series?
  5. I object to this statement on a cellular level. This narrow definition of what makes a "girl" badass just makes my teeth grind together. Plus, do we remember this quote? "Since when are you such a badass??" "Since always." C'mon now. Felicity is every bit a badass and this notion that Oliver can only have some suited up warrior as his "forever" love interest is myopic at best.
  6. I remember this too. "She's just comic relief." "She's such a one dimensional character!" "She's not important enough for her own story!" It was during s2 as well but also that hiatus. Flash forward to now and BOOM, she gets her own story and suddenly the show is "Felicity and Friends". Methinks some are just salty and will forever BE salty. Mores their pity, I guess! That whole video was a misogynistic nightmare.
  7. It WAS just for 5x01.
  8. so much THIIIIIIS
  9. I hate to say all these impressions of this fic 'verse are ones I agree with. These authors aren't bad writers but I definitely have a problem with how they write Oliver and Felicity... ESPECIALLY Felicity. In FiCoN, when Felicity shut down and left Oliver? I had such a hard time and it took me a few days to realize I wasn't upset because Felicity was upset or because Ellie had gone back home... but because Felicity was being so freakin SELFISH. And, in my opinion, that's out of character for her. Felicity is the sort that puts others first to her own detriment. Remember 4x06 when she wore herself to a nub trying to find Ray? Plus, it just felt wrong that she would act like she was the chief victim in this, not just considering Oliver and everyone else in that present time, but what about the other Oliver and Felicity? You know, her real parents? They had to be going mad with their daughter so far and not knowing what was happening to her for so long. And what about Ellie herself? What if she missed those parents too? It just... left a bad taste in my mouth. And once I sorted that out for myself, I had a hard time reconnecting with the story. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the extended verse feels like a lot of the same. It's disappointing, because I know it could be better.
  10. YESSSS this! I was just aghast. On the one hand I get what the authors doing here... kinda... on the other... it's hard to read.
  11. Butting in here to +1 this right here. C'mon, C-graphs... your game is getting weak.
  12. I actually ADORE Tommy. I've never gotten over him being killed off in season 1. But I believe his "destiny" before they decided to go that route was to make him a villain, so this would be a way to do that. As a way to close the 5 year journey, it really feels satisfying. Thanks for the welcome! And I gotta agree with this. Whatever theory the fans come up with, the actual reality is likely to be far less interesting (and sensical). Which is a shame. I'm STILL scratching my head over the Sara Lance thing.
  13. I'm holding on to Tommy as Prometheus. It's just my favorite theory out there, though there are SO many good ones and I love hearing all of them. A pit-crazed Tommy would be heartbreaking and would explain why Malcolm was so opposed to dipping Thea in the waters (and how he knew how to quench her bloodlust).
  14. Hi! I'm new. My thought is b. Tobias Church. They've said he's a 5a villain and they might wanna get him done before crossovers/midseason. Definitely not Olicity.
