  1. @dusky - sorry your ex is giving you grief. Congrats @Harvester! Great news. Have fun telling your boss.
  2. I probably shouldn't double post, but I wanted to thank everyone for their good thoughts for my mom. I gave a humorous thank you the other day, but wanted to give a sincere thanks because everyone here was so kind. It's been a very stressful few days and you all made it a bit better and easier to get through. It means a lot.
  3. I'm glad to hear your mom is doing a bit better Loandbehold. I didn't hear the news today. Such a shame.
  4. Happy birthday @Erratic! I thought I recognized the name but none of the song lyrics sounded familiar. Then I realized I was probably mixing the name up with birth control and that's why I thought I knew it. Probably if I hear one of the songs, I'll recognize it. Glad the inspections are going well @AnnieF and I hope you're feeling better.
  5. Good luck @Loandbehold - These are not easy decisions. I also hope you and your brother generally agree, because that can make an already difficult situation much more so. (Not that I know that from experience or anything.) I'm sorry the shoot got cancelled @KittenPokerCheater - Hang in there. I'm sure it will all work out. And sorry to hear about the fall @Barphe - I'm glad you're ok. I recently went through a bunch of my old albums. What a blast that was. I still like a lot of 80s music though. Some of it was just fun. I'm very curious about the candy thief. Someone at work just bought a little wireless camera that works with a cell phone. It wasn't expensive at all. I say put one of those in your office, Earl. Hell, you can even return it after you solve the mystery. How did the inspections go @AnnieF?
  6. Who knew a resounding round of fuck offs could lift my spirits so much? It did and thanks. @Loandbehold - were you able to go to brunch? I hope you're mom is doing ok and I hope you are also doing ok. The situation requires so much patience which I am not at all known for, but thankfully I seem to have enough when it comes to this. Feel better @Erratic - I don't want to be spoiled because I'm only up to ep 3, and rumor has it pie will be thrown, but were you happy with the 2nd season overall?
  7. Feel better @KittenPokerCheater - stomach bugs are the worst. That's difficult to deal with. Hopefully her attitude doesn't impact you too much. Maybe she'll surprise you and mellow out? I haven't seen last night's ep of Orphan Black yet. Probably not til later tonight. I'm really curious now.
  8. Thanks everyone - I appreciate it. @trudi-tru - she's 76 but in the early-mid stages of Alzheimer's. I truly hope it was a random slip. We were very lucky that she wasn't hurt. She already had a mat, but the first thing I did today was get a grab bar that will give support getting in and out of the tub/shower and a larger mat. I'm going to have some stronger grab bars installed too. I'm not crazy about the bath mat so I'm going to look into something else for that. Thankfully, she's very cooperative. She said it makes her feel old, and I do feel bad about that but her safety comes first. I wasn't following all the hype about the race, but I did watch. One of the horses - I forget which one - looked very stressed going into to the race. Didn't like seeing that. California Chrome's owner was none too pleased in his interview after the race.
  9. @AnnieF, I'm sorry to hear that you're in such pain. I hope you are feeling better soon. Congrats on the award @LittleVoice - I'm not a fan of work functions either. I don't have to go to many but a few times a year I have to go to client functions. The main goal of which is to mingle. I absolutely dread that. I'm not a mingler or a small talker (which is funny considering the thread I'm in). I do ok, but I'm soooo uncomfortable. Some people are naturally good at that but I do think it's a skill. I wish I could figure out how to improve in this area. @Barphe, I hope things get better soon for you. I hope your pics come out good @KittenPokerCheater and enjoy the pizza and french toast. Yesterday morning my mom fell in the shower. She's ok. Much of my day was spent in the emergency room. This is the first time something like this has happened and I think I'm more stressed and worried than she is. She's incredibly lucky that she was not injured. I have not noticed any balance or dizziness/lightheaded issues. I'm hoping she just slipped and there is not a new set of issues surfacing. Vibes to all who need them and a calm and enjoyable weekend to all.
  10. More than that, I don't understand how people have the time for all that stuff. Good luck with the bed, Earl. Yesterday I had a shiny new appliances delivered. Mine were very old and it was long overdue. The dishwasher broke some time ago but it's not something I used often, so I didn't rush to replace it. It will be nice to have that again. The fridge was starting to go, so it was time. There was a good sale so I think I did ok in that regard. I need to start looking for a stove next. I'm interested to see where they go with Orange is the New Black. I hope they have a recap of last season because I'm sure I forgot a bunch. Happy Friday!
  11. The site and mobile version are supposed to be updated soonish I think. I use the "full version" of the site from my phone but there still aren't any formatting features. I've given up trying to format with tags from the phone. I love Wait Wait... I've got a backlog of those podcasts to catch up with.
  12. I'm suddenly feeling a little older than usual. I was reading one of the articles on Fargo on the main site and saw a row of icons underneath. There's facebook, tumbler, twitter. While I've never used those (see old), I at least know what they are. There's also upvote and stumble? I have no idea what those are. Sigh. I'll have to look some of this stuff up.
  13. I'm sorry for your loss, buffyjunkie. I hope things don't get too stressful, Earl. That's a difficult environment to walk into every day. I hope you're feeling better soon, AnnieF. Also hoping all inspections go well. Try not to feel too bad, Barphe. I've also food poisoned a relative in my past. I know what you're going through, but you will all laugh at it eventually. The get together sounds fun. Is it something you do once a year or just when everyone can?
  14. Yes, end of an era sums it up well for me. I wasn't posting as much in recent years, but I still visited daily. The announcement did make me redelurk. It did feel a bit prolonged as Earl said, but reading all the posts on the 31st and the loss of all those years of posts was sad. I'm still not on facebook so maybe that has something to do with it as well. It was my internet home I guess. Having PTV to come to with everyone certainly helped though. Enjoy the play KPC. Sounds like it will be great. By the way, how's the smell in your apartment? Were you able to get that resolved? Bleu, I'm sorry your worried about all the kittens and Bunny. I'm sure they will all adjust fine in a little time.
  15. This doesn't work for me. If she truly wanted to protect him, she would never have brought him into this at all. She went to him and left Kira with him. Basically making him a target. I understand there are very few people Sarah can trust so that is why she turned to him to begin with - but then trust him and be truthful. I feel that she owes him that considering the risk she's put him at. This in the middle, halfway thing she does with people doesn't work for me.
  16. Anyone else stop by TWoP this morning and try the forums one last time?
  17. As much as I like Sarah, I do find many of her actions selfish and her treatment of the people around her could be better at times. Even when she went to Cal's cabin initially, she wasn't honest with Felix. I don't think telling Cal the truth would entangle him any further than he already is. It might actually help him be better prepared for what they're up against. This has never made sense to me. Sarah asks a lot of the people around her while keeping many things close to the vest. A consistent, if not likeable, character trait. I thought Delphine explained it to her. They just didn't show us that I think - only Cosima's reaction to it. But it does appear that's exactly where Sarah is heading with Kira. Maybe Mrs. S will try to stop it, but Sarah may be determined to help Cosima. If that's where that story is headed, it will be very interesting. I don't mind Vic staying around but I'm more than ready to see Angie go. I agree that something was off with that scene between Cosmia and Delphine. Did not work me for either.
  18. **sniff** It looks official. Night all. ETA: Group Hug.
  19. The Puppet Show is one of my favorites. Haven't watched that one in a while.
  20. I'm pretty sure I started watching at the point when Joyce got sick. I remember watching a few eps in a row and getting sucked in. I then went back and watched from the beginning to get caught up and continued watching live. Found my way to TWoP somehow - maybe looking for an explanation because I was watching out of order. Started watching AtS as well and was active in both forums. What's fun now is that one of my niblings started watching both Buffy and AtS. We watched the Buffy finale together and, when it's time, will watch the AtS one together. I think the experience is different because all the eps can now be watched quickly while we had a time to speculate, pick apart the eps and, in later seasons, perhaps get a little bitter. I keep the bitter in check though - I don't want to ruin the experience for the nibling. Posting and reading in the forums while watching definitely upped the enjoyment factor.
  21. Yep. It's still open Bleu - I think it might be until midnight today, but I could be wrong about that.
  22. There's also a Goodbye TWoP thread in the Tech Issues forum. Sad. I'm a little bit tempted to report you all!
  23. That's a difficult situation, @trudi-tru, with everyone dealing with their own grief over an unexpected loss. Hopefully someone can talk to the mother so she can be more aware of what's going on with her daughter. If you're comfortable enough and haven't already done so, maybe you can just ask her how she's doing and feeling and let her know you're there talk if she wants to. I don't think that's pushing - just letting her know you're there if she wants to talk now and, if not, you'll be there when she wants to. I also think once everything quiets down in the home and the relatives and friends leave, things will start to sink in more. She will need support for some time.
  24. I've heard that in these situations the owners are the ones who need to change. This family does a lot of things right but not consistently.
  25. I'm sorry for your loss @trudi-tru and I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts. Can't help with your question @AnnieF but I'm glad to hear there will be fewer inspections this time around. I hope all goes well. I did manage to get out for a long walk today. Tomorrow I'm going to stock up on healthy snacks so, when I inevitably start snacking at night, it shouldn't be as bad.
