Ah, okay, no, I just worded it awkwardly..I know she has recovered. But Kerryn mentioned being skinny even in her stand-up, which had nothing to do with Whitney, and as she said in this episode, she has this fat joke in her routine. So its just her thing regardless of what Whitney called her (I must admit I missed Whit calling her skinny bitch..)

Im afraid you missed my point, in this sentece I just talked about how disingenuous this bragging about being skinny is - it means nothing healthwise in her case. I never said she wasnt better in dealing with addiction then Whitney. 100% she is, she has won so far and Whitney hasnt even started the battle. What I took issue with is this discrepency - she cares about helath but then she brags about how her body LOOKS. I guess she couldnt help herself duirng the rehearsed stand up and now the show. I wouldnt want to be her in few years down the line. What kind of message? I dont know, Im an formerly very obese and now an obese person...with PCOS...do you think Im going to want to be like Whitney? No..I see a person who is much further down the road I once was. Us cysters just like to feel accepted, thats the message of acceptance I get form the show. However, I do not agree with Whitney not admitting on the cameras she has a problem. I wish she had done. We basically agree on that :)

The ironical thing about her saying she is slim, is that in her case it means virtually nothing- as poeple who have abused alcohol heavily very often do not tend to be metabolically healthy...I mean yes she is slim, but how about her pancreas now or in few years? So she is concerned with Whitneys health and at the same time talks bout herself being skinny when in her case it doesnt mean health...So at the stand up or when she mentioned her skinniness in this episode, i just cringed, because in her case it means just outside appearance, not metabolic health. I mean I do wish her well, but jesus..alcohol is worse then pure sugar for your pancreas, and there is only so much damage you can take..

I really dislike Kerryn, but her not being funny is probably an outcome of how artificialy she was incorporated in the show. they needed an opposing person, but doctors, nutritionist, therapist (Tal ?) never seemed to really get the message through to Whitney, so the show just had to choose a "comedian", because comedians basically can say whatever they want.. So yeah she is not funny, but her role in this show wanst really about comedy. I do dislike the way she goes about it, but hey who would turn down an opporutnity to get exposure on such a show? Now we all know about her.."Ill give her a donut," - from that you can see she is just mean and doesnt really care..

exactly, people have this weird double standard, Whitney is an addict and Kerryn can attack her, but its not OK the other way around and attack Kerryns addiction? I mean, its terrible, low and not OK in both cases.

yes, you are right, but I kinda count on the possiblity she will lose weight soon. Idk ..thats the scenario I hope for and I think she can do it. Just 1 thing - yes, PCOS sometimes gets better with age, I know its sounds weird, because diabetes definitely gets worse..But yes, its no exception for women with PCOS to concieve at 37 after their whole youth of infetility. There is a whole body of data showing that. Just statistics. To be honest, I struggle to have as much compassion for usual women (who have had children. they had that chance! I mean, isnt that the ultimate "unfairness" to not be able to do it?) and then expreince post-menopause changes like hairiness, baldness. Life is tough, I have been hairy and losing hair since the onset of PCOS at 14 and I know its going to get worse..But it never bothered me as much as the infertility.. And i definitely dont think the cosmetic flaws are harder for post-menopause women, when I dealt with it mentally as a teenager, its doable. Btw I know Whitney doesnt speak about infertility, she seems to have blocked it out...but she still expreiences it. Honestly, for me it has been a root of a lot of resentment towards people, and not listening to them at all. You know what I mean? Its like "you won this genetic lottery of being able to procreate and Im just a dead end of evolution. You rock your children on your knees and I have a cat. You have no right to tell me anything". I see myself in Whitney a lot and I think there probably is a sentiment like that, that makes her disregard other peoples opinions and that whole unfairness talk. You dont publicly speak about something like that, it hurts too bad. Just my thought on this :) -

well, how is somebodys aging worse of a challenge then PCOS and having hormones out of whac to start with? I mean I get where you are coming from, but losing your hair at places on your head and having to shave your face and chin....is pretty "unfair"..(As a woman with PCOS I dont tend to use that word, because it makes no sense and I would probably just be angry all day long.) -
I really dislike when Rachel inspires that frineds of Rosses to shave her head, and then is so happy about it.. And in general mean-spirited moments.

Amen to this. I thought the same when reading whinteys book. There is a problem in their relationship and his bringing her little boxes for food will not fix that. Thats why Whitney appears to be ungrateful etc. Its hard to take well criticisms coming from a person who basically did not take you as you were, unconditionally. I mean this part of the book pretty much broke my heart. He does mean well, but he is not the person Whitney will listen to. (That doesnt change Whitneys denial and all of her flaws.)

the medication for PCOS is metformin and then you can also take inositol and progesteron.. It doesnt make the hairloss better though. She never mentioned it, metformin makes you really sick so i think that would get talked about..It basically makes your body handle carbs the same way as in a healthy person, but not everybody tolerates it .. So her endocrinologist probably didnt prescribe her that..

omg that Joker smile cracked me up for a few minutes :D Was that supposed to be funny or enticing or..? I found that really endearing how she said "ok that was stupid". Yeah, and if i was the guy, i would be terrified to my very soul :D

you really are making statements about something you know nothing about, you are just guessing. I dont think you can downplay somebodys perception of their being depressed. I mean I know about people with pcos who considered ending their life..Its not just the infertility thing, and the fact you have to wax your face to resemble a woman, and the weight thing, but also purely physically- the mood swings that come with the flux of hormones, just on its own are exhausting. Some women do feel terrible and exahusted and depressed even before the diagnosis, its physical. The hormone changes wreack havoc on your body, you are not just depressed by your thoughts, its physiological..Plus then when you find out wahts wrong with you, its demorlizing for some people.. I used to have just these dark places in my life where I ddint recognize myself and then I found out it had had lots to do with pcos..Ir ead her book and thoise bouts of depression seem very familiar and genuine to me. -
well, she did lose it, because she made it her full time job, she devoted her whole life just to losing weight. It would not be sustainbale for anyone. So "disciplined" is understatement. I do agree she wouldnt have gained so much more weight if she was not addicted to food, but its not really fair to use the regaining the weight against her.. Not many people would have been able to keep up with that regimen...you would have to become a personal trainer or something of that sort to spend your whole day excersising..

Whitney Thore: So She Thinks She Can Dance

yes, but with PCOS it often ends up with a miscarriage (also without you possibly knowing). But at this size, no she is not ovulating for 99%. excess fat makes it even more impossible, the thing you do with PCOS if you want to try to get pregnant is you lose weight. at normla weight, you do ovulate sometimes and other times you dont (my experience), when fat you never do (also my experinec)..
