This version of Carlotta reads to me like she should be one of the Lifetime V.C. Andrews villains instead of something from Anne Rice.  There's no menace just crazy religious freak.

    🤣 at least she’s no more - I hope

this show is still a big bag of problems - but- I actually felt this was the best episode so far 🤷🏽‍♀️ from what we’ve been given which sets the bar very, very low

but we had sip ( I guess this is what we are calling him now 😆) and Rowan action for a lot of this episode ( can’t stand Rowan but she’s tolerable with sip) and I liked the whole “spell over the house” aspect of the episode

but the lasher and Rowan scenes are horrid!

    i saw

    Spoiler

    this show got renewed….how?

You are in great danger Rowan, I'm here to protect you.  Um, yeah, gotta go try not to die while I'm gone.

😄^   This writing reminds of an 80's after-school TV special

I'm pretty much hate watching at this point, just waiting to see

    Spoiler

    who from interview shows up

The only person I like in this is Ciprien...he's very fine to look at (unlike Lasher) and the guy's acting is good unlike pretty much everyone else....

Who is this other woman living with Aunt Carlotta? Nobody has name checked her that I can recall, she wasn't at the funeral or the wake, and when Rowan saw her upstairs in her bedroom she just kept on walking without saying anything. Is she a ghost only Carlotta can see?

I know this was mentioned she is one of the Aunt's....but this proves the point the writers have done a TERRIBLE job showing us who ANY of these characters are!

And did the beginning scene in Scotland remind anyone from the movie the Witch with dancing around the fire? 😁

Fell flat for me too.  I got midsommar vibes from this too, but this wasn’t as good as midsommar, and I actually kind of didn’t love midsommar that much!

I was rooting for the people to not be saved, and to die.  Was that how everyone felt?

I was not rooting for them to be saved....I was not opposed to them dying, just wasn't a fan of his "staff" dying....what was the point of that!

t's a real thing. It's a family of fungi that attack insects, primarily ants. Basically an ant becomes infected and while the fungus is growing inside it's body, it goes about its normal ant business, That is until the fungus is ready to reproduce and the ant drags itself to a high perch (usually above the ant trails) and the fungus basically explodes out of its body and rains spores all over the place (so more ants get infected). It's genuinely fascinating and horrifying, As of now, people cannot be infected, but in the future...?

Thanks for this info, I'm now officially horrified 😐

I found that odd, too. That she didn't turn on the news right away. I know they had to build up to that moment with the dog, and the old woman, but I can't imagine her ignoring the panic of the woman who told her to go home. She wasn't just trying to get her out of the store.

yeah that was odd, but what was it like going home? did she walk? take the bus? was everyone just acting normal?

(though I liked the use of the cordyceps fungus as the reason behind this version of a zombie apocalypse

ok, full disclosure, science was my worst subject in school, what the heck is a Cordyceps fungus?

that scene of the dead person they found underground with the fungus exploding out of them reminded me of that scene of the movie Annihilation.....

I watched this show for 2 reasons (because i don't play video games):

    1. sounded interesting plus i do like these types of shows though i'm a little over zombies

    2. Pedro Pascal

I thought it was pretty good, very suspenseful and kept my interest....is this 10 episodes? I hope so considering how long it took to film this...

I hope we get more backstory of the family Mayfaire, but what WAS the point of Suzanne's story, other than the birds? Or WAS that the point?

I did not read the Witching Hour book, my mom did and tried to re-read before the series premiere, this might not be completely accurate but she said a big chunk at the beginning is devoted to the family's backstory, so I am assuming for the show, they will show us "pieces and chunks" of them either as the series goes along or maybe what they will sprinkle will come together by the final episode....

To me what they showed in this episode seemed pointless....I like flashbacks but you gotta show more than what they did here-

However, I thought the episode as a whole was really good, much better than episode 1

And I think Lasher killed Deidre, but maybe it was the Aunt...

I'm beginning to think Alexandra D's acting is just so-so 😆

At least we got to see some witch power in action

I also heard (in spoiler tags)

    Spoiler

On the net that supposedly we will see a character from Interview with the Vampire appear in the show, I was expecting this, and with the tour guide saying the line, "the house is known for its witches" then went on to talk about Vampire and Demons that all but confirmed it, makes me wonder if they will "conjur" i can only assume Lestat (it makes the most sense) to help them fight Lasher?? again just me speculating...

  7. I just watched this tonight on HBO Max....I will say I liked this better than the last movie I watched due to hype (the Menu)...don't know how I feel about a best pic win though

I do think Colin F. deserves all the nominations he is getting for the role...

Is the moral of the story to have more than one friend in your life? 😐

    Or to have meaning........

"I don't mean to be rude, but that was kinda boring" since that was exactly how I felt until about halfway through We Light The Way on first viewing.  Heck, if I could've skipped directly to episode 6, which is when the show actually became good,

I take this person didn't watch the Rings of Power? 😆

I still haven't finished that show...

I felt the only "slow" part was perhaps Episode 3 during the "hunt"...that part was a little slow moving, and perhaps Episode 9, but the rest of it...so good

though they could have had more battle scenes, i'm assuming they are saving the budget, even GOT season 1 didn't really have crazy battle scenes, not like the later seasons....

  9. I just now finished this, this show wasn't even on my radar but kept hearing how it was one of Netflix's biggest shows, so I figured I had to check it out

It was cute, not the greatest, but I enjoyed it, I have to say though, some of the CGI was just down right awful (the hyde, the werewolf)

I liked the love triangle, usually I don't care for them, but I found myself thinking, "man I'm not sure which one to root for" I was giving the slight edge to Tyler, but I would enjoy her with Xavier if they become a thing in season 2

And I don't get the push back about the black characters, I found both of them redeemable??? I sometimes wonder if these "critics" have ever seen other TV shows....

The line that had me barking laughing, “Student loans?” to the gal who went to Brown.

Yeah that line/scene was pretty good-

Me and my friend watched this on HBO, we were so excited to see it based on what we heard about it...

But I gotta say it fell flat for me-

Ralph F was great-he was the best thing in the movie, and I get the message, but the whole, "his staff just willing dying" reminded me too much of Midsommar (another movie didn't care for)

But I did like the humor in this-

I started out thinking the woman that we saw in the beginning was an older version of Rowan (which I think was the idea) but then obviously, she turned out to be the older version of Deirdre that we were seeing in the main bulk of the episode and she was Rowan’s mother.

That's what i thought too, then figured out, oh that's the mom, and then it came full circle at the end seeing her in the chair-

I did love that scene at the beginning with the woman watching over her who told the doctor, "what man" in a voice basically saying to him, 'watch yourself'

and the house is awesome-I think they captured it very well, while I didn't read the books, ( i read the vampire books) I remember back in the 90's going to the bookstore (when that was a thing) and seeing the paperback covers for the Mayfair trilogy books and seeing that house on the cover

I wasn't pleased with the casting of "Interview" either, and it was a decent series.

🤯-- see, this is where i differ, I think the casting of Interview was leaps and bounds better than this series---while Louis and Lestat are toxic, the actors make that couple work---they are just THAT GOOD---toxicity and all, i'm here for it and want more

The Lasher guy I'm not enticed by at all, and I don't know Alexandra D's work beyond Baywatch LOL, I need to watch the White Lotus, she's very attractive, but I'm not seeing the level of greatness that I saw with the actors who played Louis and Lestat

  13. I'm late to the party, but I recently finished watching this show, started it sometime around September I think-

I see a lot of Carson hate, I actually warmed up to her by the end, who I didn't really care for too much was Greta!

All of the other Peaches grew on me by the end as well-

As for Max, I agree with what others have said, no way she could have joined the Peaches, I like how they showed her own path, but her character got on my nerves more than Carson, I could only tolerate her for the most part because of her Father and my favorite character of the show...CLANCE! she was the bomb! sooo funny, we needed more Clance on screen!!!!!!!

I don't think Amazon has said yet if this show is renewed or canceled, not a good sign.

  14. My apologies I need to clarify-

when I say Andor being the first “adults only” show, I myself am referring to these Disney Plus original content shows-I don’t mean the original trilogy. Mandolorian is pretty adult but my Baby Yoda(I refuse to call him by his real name 🤣) keeps it at a fine line because they know the kids are watching. I just feel this show doesn’t really have anything for the kids to draw them in.

I wonder if this is why some of my adult friends are loving it so much 😉

  15. hahaha i concur with the above

I get Epix for 2 months as part of a black friday promotion, so I binged Season 3 pretty quickly, but I was little let down with the end, though I guess it ended in a way that if it is not renewed, there is some closure...

Bill and Catherine continue to make choices that make me want to choke them though...him with the "going outside for coffee" and her not being more careful

Is it me or did Lukas Hass not age well?

  16. So I've seen all the episodes on AMC at my mom's house, i don't have AMC, but i just got AMC+ with a black friday special for a little while so I'm re-watching.

I will say, there are *slight* changes regarding the nudity and I think the language-but not much

    I'll start with episode 1

    Quote

I absolutely loved this! Personally, I felt this was the best Lestat interpretation I've seen. I hope they do all the chronicles. Who knew Grey worm had such acting chops!

Agreed-Cruise did well as Lestat, but Sam Reid captures the FULL Lestat, I felt Cruise showed only 1 side of Lestat, the evil/cruel side, not the charming/weird side and this at least showed them hanging out for about a month before he was turned...more believable that he would agree to be turned by Lestat

It took me about 10 min in to realize Louis was Greyworm, I kept saying to myself, "i know him" then i was like, "its greyworm only with hair and and American accent!"

The Paul walking off the roof scene was so sad but well done and RIP Lily, i liked her :(

As for the chemistry between Louis/Lestat, yeah, like others have said, off the charts! wow, just wow, AMC struck gold with those two

And as weird as this may sound, but while this Louis was being "interviewed" I felt the vibe of Brad Pitt's character at times, again, I think it shows no matter what someone looks like, if they can embody that character, it shows on screen-

And it doesn't hurt both men are so nice to look at 🙃 I see that Sam Reid is from Australia, why are all the hot ones from there?

But what really bothers me is that so many seemed unwilling to accept that not everyone views it as a perfect addition to the Star Wars franchise.  I don't.  I don't believe the franchise has a perfect production to begin with.

I'm with you here, I feel in the minority to say I wasn't completely wowed by this, everyone I talk to that think this show is the best thing on TV right now and hands down the best Star Wars show, maybe I need a re-watch, but I just don't agree-

I had MAJOR issues with the pacing of this show, it didn't need to be 12 episodes, 7-8 would have done just fine and to hear they are going to do ANOTHER 12 episodes for season 2?????

Mon Mothma's scenes were SOOOO BORING! I cringed every time they showed her and her boring husband-it just seemed like nothing happened except setting her husband up as a gambler and getting her daughter betrothed.

the Bad: The lead. I cannot stand of him, the character and the actor. At the beginning I though this was a parody or something. Then I remembered  he was in Rogue One. I do not think they made a good job building his character.

Sorry gotta disagree with you here, Diego Luna was the only thing keeping me invested in this show, we need to see him in more movies/shows like we are FINALLY seeing Pedro Pascal in things (not counting WW1984 😉)

I did like B2, but I like all the droids, the hubby called him, "the trash can looking droid" LOL

I'm definitely watching season 2, but I just hope they fix these pacing/writing issues (and make Mon Mothma relevant please)....but it was nice to finally an "adult/drama" Star Wars show on Disney Plus finally, but I'm still giving the Madalorian the number 1 spot for shows, followed by Wanda vision then this.

Yes and no. They drugged him silly at the end but I think Otto wanted time. Time for Aemon to grow up, time for their dragons to grow more, time to build alliances, etc. Rhyneara wasn't the only one protected by her father. He kept it all stable until he died.

Yeah, but I personally think he wanted it happen when Aegon was a tween….that way Alicent would be the regent maybe, Aegon wouldn’t be so off the hook, plus if rhae had been in court they would have just killed rhae/leanor and the boys (like someone said above)

having rhae at dragon stone is very inconvenient

The dragons are getting smaller. Vhaegar is huge as was the B(alerion?). Dany’s were fueled by magic.

I sort of figured this - but considering this is not even 20 years later and they are getting so much smaller one would think the house if the dragon would be concerned

but I’m not a big fan of the dragon pit, the conquerors should have kept their dragons at dragon stone then building that pit…I think the people were pretty scared into submission knowing what would happen if anyone tried to usurp the throne

Taking out another's eye was hardly brave. Although Luke acted out of desperation, it was still cruel. Nowadays such a child would have taken into custody.

I can’t believe we are still debating this but alas….

ok, so I don’t think he was “gunning” for the eye….it was a “fight or flight” situation- you had aemond threatening to feed them all to his dragon, then he picked up the rock…so yes, Luke slashed his face….cruel? Hardly, what aemond did 6 years later was cruel, he is the typical bully who just wants to be loved (and be king) ….he taunts, he picks fights, and he learned from everyone’s favorite knight Christin Cole….because we all know how honorable he is

standing up to the big bully is brave

and this is the world of GRRM, if this was real life all the targs would be jailed for being sex offenders

as for the comments on how can Rhae/beesbury/Matt daemon think viserys was well, I have a theory- daemon knew they were feeding him milk of the poppy, then when viserys quit taking it he was more coherent (he showed up to work) so I think perhaps as long as viserys was off the poppy he was “well”

and it would be suspicious the minute u leave your loved one dies, especially in the hands of the hightowers, if this was the lannisters it be the same thing….

Well, this atleast explain why whenever we saw Luc they always portrayed him as the cutest, most innocent thing ever. Say what you want about Alicent´s kids but atleast they have some personality.

I wouldn’t call him innocent- he was young, “10 and 4” and could be brave when he needed to be - he did “take out an eye”

I think this death hurt because 1. He’s a sweet kid and 2. What a way to die

But this wouldn’t be GOT without the deaths that hurt

In some ways Luke reminded me of Tommen (minus the raised by Cersei part 😅)

I liked Luke way more than Jace-not saying Jace has the crazy Targ genes, but he seems like a hot head

alicent’s kids for sure have the Targ craziness- the only interesting one to me is Aemond, Aegon is Joffrey 2.0 in the making and the daughter is just….there

as for little Arrax, I’m trying to figure out why he was so small, they keep talking about how none of the dragons are adult size yet Daenerys dragons were huge by season 6, arrax in theory should be what 13?

Is it because they are in that dragon pit?
