So Daemon is attempting to ride another dragon? How does that work? Would Caraxes attack Vermithor (I don't think so, since this dragon seems to be as big as Vhagar)?

This is just a guess...but I think Daemon is trying to "claim" Vermithor for his daughter...Rheana....in the scene where he said some of the older dragons were riderless the scene i believe then cut to her...and maybe this is his way of making up for "losing Vhegar" to Aemond....

He also then mentions these wild dragons who live on the island....he thinks they can claim them? Who's going to ride them? I'm with Queen Rhae on that one....they are really no match dragon wise to Vhegar...maybe IF someone can ride Vermithor, but they don't really have 13 to 4....that was a pipe dream thinking the next day they could "have all of the greens heads on spikes"

Then again after what happened, maybe they should have let him try....

  2. RIP Luke and Arrax

    43 minutes ago, blackwing said:

He wanted to show Luke that his dragon was bigger and stronger, just a harmless flyby, to remind him of who was in power.  Then for some reason, Luke had his dragon attack his.  So his dragon killed the other dragon in self defense.

Something tells me this is going to be the topic of this episode like the whole, "who started the take out the eye fight", but CLEARLY NEITHER AEMOND NOR LUKE HAD CONTROL OF THEIR DRAGONS IN THAT MOMENT!  Luke even told Arrax before they took off to "listen" and "serve" so obviously the younger dragon had a habit of not listening, and Aemond clearly can't control his Grandma after all of these years, Vheager killing Arrax in self defense? yeah right, she was just annoyed that little baby dragon tried to burn out her eyes, (it looked like Arrax was going for the eyes which was smart)

Viserys was smart not to take another dragon after the black dread died

Did people forget Daenerys couldn't control Drogon? Remember the what was it, 2 seasons he was "roaming free?"

Did you watch GOT? there are people who ship Cersei and Jamie.....

And one can't really be "team green" either considering Aegon is married to his sister and has kids with her.......

Now dumbass Aemond will either have to admit he can't control his dragon or lean into the villain role. I expect he'll embrace being a villain. Good job in destroying any chance at avoiding war, asshole.

I think he'll take ownership of what happened and say he did it next season, but I think deep down he won't like being the villain, (that's Cole's role LOL), while I don't like the greens, Aemond is 50 shades of gray like his uncle....he's "complicated"

I think the straight up villains are Cole and Otto, I'm anxiously awaiting their deaths (someday)

Im guessing that it was basically alicent fighting with Otto to get to Aegon first.

I kind of figured- I think she’s trying to still “save” Aegon so to speak so he’ll be a good king and better husband/person but it’s like-lady that ship has sailed

perhaps if you hadn’t been fighting with Rheanerya when he was younger and plotted so much for their downfall your kids would not have turned out this way

I can’t believe I’m saying this -but I’m not hating the religious version of Alicent

I don’t get why that one lord didn’t just send a raven? But Otto probably would have intercepted it anyway-too bad all of them got killed

I don’t even know what to say about Cole this week-I have a feeling we are going to see him kill a of people- be nice to see him kill larys though 🤣

They made the most popular show in history. They will never be blacklisted. They are doing massive show for Netflix called The Three Body Problem, which is currently in post production.

And they've had more other projects for Netflix like The Chair.

Dare I say/use the term “alternate facts” or more so “alternate perceptions “

first off - everything with Netflix is “massive” is it not? That’s why they are in debt and are cutting/canceling some shows they probably should have given some more time with

second - just because Netflix threw money at it doesn’t mean it will be “good” sex/life anyone?

third-technically the term is used as a noun for “disfavor” so I still by my words 😎

She had to have ordered that Plan T before the girl even opened her mouth since the other servant was out of the room and returned as soon as the convo was all but done.

Rhae should have sent Daemon back to Dragonstone, no way she should have left Viserys alone with them, but then again, had that happened, we wouldn't have a story

  10. I originally thought Aegon was "Joffrey light" Joff from GOT that is....and  I still stand by that, because Joff killed the people he brought into his room.....

At least Alicent didn't kill the maid, you know Cersei would have 😑

It was funny seeing Otta get mad how Alicent backtracked wanting Rhea's friendship again...well...that's all out the window now that Alicent thinks Viserys wants Aegon as the "prince who was promised"

As for what happened there....i thought that was a good plot point....it wouldn't be the first time in history someone has believed/misinterpreted something than what was originally intended (especially when it comes to religion)

That's my Matt Daemon for killing Vaemond defending Rhea! and did you see the impressed look from Aemond 🙃

I did like the exchanges those two gave each other, i sense some showdowns brewing

Man those scenes with Viserys were hard....the show should win emmy's for the special effects for those scenes alone

I'm predicting the three dragon eggs Daemon found are Drogon/Vicerion/Rhegal....(the one looks very much like Vicerion's egg just saying)

Daemon literally did show up in the Vale with sinister intentions towards his wife and would have taken advantage of Rhaenyra if she wasn't getting pleasure out of it according to the director.

Okay....good thing this show is a work of fiction because I cannot believe I'm defending what is illegal in this day and age but....he already crossed the line and took advantage the minute he took her hat off in that brothel, he wanted people to see that so she would be "runined"

But...if he had done the deed so to speak, as wrong as it would have been....if Rhea had married him and had his children, she wouldn't be the position she is now, her claim would be pretty strong and no one would be calling those kids bastards....and no way Otto would be back as Hand

So giving someone a choice is a terrible thing now?

What was terrible was how Cole turned on her after she turned him down....for someone he "supposedly" loved....you don't do that to someone you love, even Daemon did the right thing in the end....that shows more love than what Cole has ever done.

    22 hours ago, Dac22 said:

Which they absolutely are and Daemon would be doing the same thing if it was Alicent's kids.

I feel bad for the kids, but Rhaenyra and Harwin are the ones to do this to them. Don't want your kids to be called bastards, then don't have bastards. The world sucks, yes, but they know that. Pretty simple.

Daemon gets pleasure out of everyone's misery I think....but as of yet, we have not seen him stoop so low as to do the things Cole has done to kids

As for the whole....don't want to have your kids be bastards, don't have bastards....well....she's got to produce heirs....like others have said, funny how her father's kids all came out with the white hair but not hers, AND, the men can have 100 bastards and no one blinks an eye

I simply don't think acknowledging a character's warts and awful deeds is admitting the character is awful. Jaime Lannister is my favorite character in fiction, but I never understand why people dismiss/overlook all the horrible things because that's part of why the character was great.

Jamie Lannister had something called character growth, Cole/Alicent are declining as the episodes go on (and we are only in season 1)!

As ridiculous as Ser Criston has been to Rhaenyra's children, I am glad that he didn't follow the order to take Lucerys' eye

Let's get real here, the reason he didn't do it was because the "king" forbade it and he's at least smart enough to know not to go against the king....and if you noticed when Alicent grabbed the knife, Cole was quick to pounce like the whipping boy he is but Daemon was the one who held him back

    9 minutes ago, Dac22 said:

So far Daemon has savagely beaten an innocent messenger out of spite, essentially killed his wife because he didn't want to be married to her, was planning to take advantage and 'spoil' Rhaenyra to get back at his brother, and killed an innocent servant this episode.

Daemon is Criston on steroids so far as the latter has to do more than kill Joffrey to catch up.

you just said "planning" and "essentially" 😉 Cole, Alicent, and Otto HAVE done the things they are accused of....

What has Cole done? let's see....asked someone to give up everything her Father risked the realm for to run off with her, and when she refused, he turns on her and beats someone to death at a party because he didn't like what the guy said to him....he eggs on little kids to fight each other...gets pleasure out of seeing Rhea's kids outed as bastards....was quick to step up to the plate to TAKE OUT A KIDS EYE without hesitation.....

yeah, he's a real peach....not toxic at all

Sure, Daemon has done some pretty despicable things too, but when it comes to who's worse...for me it's pretty clear which "team" is worse here.....

Did the show ever explain why Matt Daemon never consummated his marriage? I remember him saying something about his wife being hideous, but she really wasn't unattractive (not a young, blond relative, but still).

I wonder if he did it deliberately so there would be no heirs when he eventually killed her?

Interesting theory, I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of his plan

I think he just said she was hideous to explain why he wouldn't "perform his duty"

I know there's been a lot of talk about him not being able to perform, but I think the show is just focusing on his "inner demons"

    Clearly-

    Spoiler

He can perform-by next week's previews it looks like he has kids with Leana Valeroyn and Matt Smith has complained in interviews that he did "too many sex scenes"

Now Ser Cristin....where to begin....there's a reason this guy is reminding me too much of Jon Snow and with that "confession" along with killing Joffrey I lost all respect for him...I think he should be punished but it doesn't look like that will be happening

I mean I get why he's hurt/angry, but Viserys is risking a lot by standing by this decision to make Rheanyra heir and to ask her to throw it all away and to run off with him is short sighted

Exactly-I guess one can could call Jon Snow a feminist in a Westeros world--but he declined as the seasons went on, hopefully that doesn't happen with this character

As for the Uncle/Niece brothel scene....for some reason this didn't disgust me as much as the twincest did.....perhaps it's the GOT effect? a conditioned response to incest 🤨 Or maybe its what others have said, the two actors have pretty intense chemistry.

Thank you! I rarely go back and re-watch but perhaps I should rewarch the first episode again! Still, you'd think as King he'd have another dragon since, yanno, it's the family calling card!

Well keep in mind I'm pretty sure we are lead to believe Viserys rode Balerion when he was a teenager or in his early 20's so this would have been before he was King....I don't know if he would have been able to just "get" another Dragon so easily since he wasn't first in line for one....

Also, they mentioned in that intro that during the "height" of the Targeryen Dynasty they had only 10 adult dragons....and in that GOT conquest and rebellion DVD that came out with season 7, it was mentioned that when the Targaryens left Valyria for Dragonstone and took their dragons with them, i think we are to assume there was only maybe at the most 20 dragons that survived the doom and Balerion was the only one to make it to Jaherys reign

I want so badly for this show to be amazing because I am House Targaryen forever!  But the clunky writing and the weak casting (IMO, with the exception of Milly Alcock and maybe Rhys Ifans) is bumming me out so far. Plus, I just don't buy Matt Smith as a badass warrior.  But I'm definitely sticking with it because I love the Targs, so hopefully it only gets better from here.

I would say the only clunky thing the writers have done is the aging of the characters....making Leanor an adult when he looked about 13 in the first episode and Rhanerya being 17 when she was 15 three years ago, and making Leana look 10 when she was supposed to be 12

But the writing and acting is top notch for sure....

n other matters, Otto only seems to shoot himself in the foot. We're told in the pilot that making Daemon commander of the goldcloaks was his own idea, and only later did he realize he'd given the guy a private army. He was the one who first suggested making Rhaenyra heir, the very same night he first sent Alicent to woo Viserys. Once Alicent is Queen, he'll surely rue Rhaenyra's position as she'll resent Alicent's. And in this ep, he went to face Daemon on his own and somehow just clean forgot the dude has a dragon?!

Manipulating the king and ordering his daughter around is definitely his strong suit.

    Updated for ep 1.02

Btw, I'm glad we've all decided to call that rogue prince "Matt Daemon".

I forgot to respond to this before-loving the "Matt Daemon" reference btw 😆

As for Otto, I think his problem is that he underestimates everyone-except maybe Viseyrs.....he underestimated Rhaenrya this episode, thought he could boss her around in his subtle way by choosing the next kingsguard

He really underestimates Matt Daemon-I think he thought the gold cloaks would reject Daemon, he pretty much tried to shame them during the confrontation at Dragonstone-speaking of that confrontation, when I re-watched the episode tonight with the hubs, he is very much a casual watcher, he watched all 8 seasons of GOT during COVID lockdown-the minute he saw Otto and crew he said, "seriously, does he not know this guy has a dragon and they want to square off on a bridge?"  😆

I told him what i said above, that i really think he is so full of himself he thinks he can manipulate his way out of any situation!

This over abundance of costuming/sets/music, etc. being recycled from GoT just feels cheap to me, and perplexing given they supposedly had like $20 million per episode? What on earth did they spend the money on, because it wasn't on new sets, costumes, or musical scores.

    1. the music is different, certain elements remain the same, but what they are doing is no different than Star Wars, the "theme" is the same, but the music is different

    2. why change the sets when they are at the same place? (King's landing)

As for the budget, I'm hearing 10-12 million per episode? Surprising given how I was little underwhelmed by the opening CGI with Syrax....but it was still better than Dany riding Drogon for the first time (that was still worse CGI)

I really enjoyed it, granted there's not as many characters but i think people forget a lot of the GOT characters came into play later on, I personally don't like how a lot of the names are too similar sounding and 80% of the characters being Targaryen's don't help because they all have the long blonde hair, but I always felt the GRRM world and its characters were episodes that required repeated viewings and not a series you watch once if you truly want to grasp/understand the material/plot if you are not a book reader (I myself only read book 1 so far)

And they are saying 10 million viewers on night 1? I'd say for all the people who were going to boycott, they are secretly hate watching 😄

On an unrelated note, the first thing I thought when I saw the episode's title was that it should be "Que Serac, Serac".

    😄

This show lost me at the end of episode 7, when host William went full on William

I was so disappointed, because I was really liking the season up until that point, but I too was like, "seriously, this is our ending?"

I was hoping for some closure with the hosts, either they all go to transcend or go to the sublime, was hoping for a delores/teddy reunion in the sublime myself

and did they actually explain what the "transcendence" was for the hosts?

if this show gets renewed for a 5th season i'll be a little perturbed considering they gave the ax to Raised by Wolves which had real potential for its 3rd season, this show just keeps getting more boring and more confusing

My ranks for the seasons go 1, 3, 2 then 4....season 2 was just too dragged out and I liked season 3 for the change though I missed seeing the original hosts.....
