  1. I'm not a Christian but I cringe to see 50 year old women holding hands in prayer before going into a house to confront a lady in a fascinator over some texts, or a woman talk about 'Jesus Juice' to distract herself from her crumbling marriage. It also strikes me as really unChristian to be living in these gaudy McMansions when so much of that money could be used to do good, but that's none of my business. If any of these women actually found Jesus it would probably do them a world of good. On another note, my boyfriend is from a Dallas commuter town (Rockwall) and has told me a bit about the macho high school football culture that exists in Texas. I totally get the vibe from Stephanie's husband that he's a failed high school football player who's now going to force his unhealthy obsession with playing college ball on his child. Cary is gorgeous and I respect that she has a real job, unlike the others, but her relationship with her husband is mega weird. I think she keeps him around to pay the bills and suck up to her, but there's other weird stuff going on there as well. (I almost want to say a D/s thing, but that's not it.)
  2. LOL, to me it just looks fake and plastic.
  3. Not my cup of tea, either. I hate waxed chests.
  4. During the interview with Jinger where she giggled over there possibly being a guy, it made me wonder for the millioth time what the relationship between the crew and family is like when the cameras are off. Do they joke around? Does the crew get to hold babies? Did the older kids learn about the real world from the crew? I need to read a memoir from one of the production team. Unrelated: can someone from an evangelical background talk about whether most evangelicals think Catholics are hell bound and in need of saving?
  5. A lot of people in the traditional Jewish community feel that way, too. Many observant women, cover all of their hair with scarves, only cover part of their hair but do so all the time, or only cover part of their hair during religious functions.
  6. I wonder if they don't think of being prepared for the cameras in the same way we do because they've basically grown up on TV. Once you've been on the air in nasty flip flops with dirty feet, maybe it's just a hop skip and a jump to leaving the dirty plates out.
  7. I honestly don't think the people who sent them for their 'ministry' are self aware enough to see that the whole exercise of sending middle class, non-Spanish speaking evangelicals with no special skills in medicine, social work, or engineering to convert already Christian central Americans is pretty dumb. I could easily see a leghumper watching this and thinking, "wow, they're really living the dream of being evangelists!"
  8. It's funny how two people can look at the same thing and get totally different impressions of it. While I definitely don't think Brandi is perfect, I perceived her as reaching out for attention from her distant husband. I was more inclined to blame him for their obviously bad marriage. I also can't help but wonder if after so many years of being thought of as the one in the relationship who married up, he enjoys being in a position of power over her ( bywithholding his time and affection).
