There’s been no confirmation that BB is leaving though, right? Just rumours? Given the buzz around Stabi, and the shows active promotion of them, it would seem an odd move. There was a time around the announcements of OKR, Nadia Bjlorin and Kyle Lowder’s exits that many exits were suggested - including BB and Lucas Adams, but OKR, NB and KL seem to be the only ones that were ever confirmed.

I’m not an Eve fan for many of the reasons you’ve stated. I’ve also never seen KdP in another role and so unfortunately I have no residual good feelings toward her. I strongly dislike her version of Eve, which to me lacks the warmth and vulnerability CR brought to the role. And she seems to be on 24/7 which makes it worse. Even as a Ben fan, the “good guys” and “therapist” comments were a WTF for me. For Claire I put it down to a mix of being overly nice because she’d basically framed him, and meds. Well, mostly the meds. Marlena... wanting to validate that she made the right professional decision to approve his release? Yeh, no. No good explanation on that one. I’m starting to think maybe she does have a crush on him. She seemed almost giggly when he complimented her. I much preferred Tripp’s “that’s all you’ll get”. Begrudging acknowledgement that Ben wasn’t the bad guy in this instance is enough. The guy is not, nor ever will be a saint. I also enjoyed the Victor/John scenes. For me this story has improved since it brought in more characters - namely the families. JA and DH have a great chemistry and it’s so good to see different characters interacting. Long may it continue. -

Agreed. At this point when they inevitably break up, I’m really hoping he’s the one to dump her. I’m finding her treatment of him obnoxious and condescending. If she’s not that into him, don’t marry him. It’s not that hard. -
I read somewhere else that Brady tells Chloe about Gabi’s plot to bring down Stefan so I wonder if this is what blindsides him.

Ok good, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one confused by that. I felt like it was a big conclusion to jump to, based on what Eve said. Ciara knew that both Claire and Eve were aware that Ben had pointed the finger at Claire - and that Eve didn’t believe him - so the message could have just been a heads up to support Claire, given how much she hates Ben. That said, it did help to move the story along, which I was grateful for. And it sent Jarlena into protection mode which was entertaining. -
I definitely agree with you on that, Disneyboy. I don’t understand why or when soaps decided that the bad guys were more interesting than the good guys. When they are written and portrayed well, I actually like both - but for me one does not have to be featured at the expense of the other. When I first got into soaps it was without doubt the good guys that I was rooting for. But unfortunately over time so many of those have done such out of character things that I almost “trust” the villains more - or at the very least I find them more consistent in terms of their motives and characterisations.

I can see why the Ben praise was OTT for many. I put it down to a combination of guilt on Hope’s part for the way she relentlessly pursued him, and shock and almost embarrassment on both her and Shawn’s part that it was Claire and they had no idea. I did like RSWs muted acknowledgement of that praise. I really enjoyed the Shawn “angel” scene with Claire. BB had me with that, and it was followed by a good scene with he and Belle. This fire story has definitely dragged but for me is much better now that it’s broadened to include more characters, and their reaction to realising what Claire has done. I enjoyed Jarlena telling Belle, Shawn and Ciara, and Jarlena and Cin, partly because we rarely see those combinations. Days does families well and we need more of those interactions, IMO. Plus, the Jarlena scene with Eve was a pure delight. -

I agree it was a good episode and I’m definitely glad that means the end of the damn fire story, but a couple of things about the cabin scenes really bugged me. Firstly, I was glad Hope was the one to talk Claire down but then as soon as Claire put down the lighter Hope basically fresh aired her and went straight to Ciara. Seriously? Way to further play into Claire’s insecurity. I realise Ciara is her daughter and I guess that trumps a granddaughter - maybe - but in that moment it was clear who needed her more. Ciara was not physically harmed and Ben was taking care of her so would it have killed her to give the girl a hug. Thank goodness Marlena was there. Secondly, when Ciara, Ben and Hope we’re leaving the cabin, the stink eye Ciara was giving was beyond extreme. I get Claire had just tried to kill her and she had some reason to be pissed, but Ciara has set the plan in motion to unhinge her. Yet there was no conflict, no guilt, no sympathy, no concern at all. It was particularly jarring as both Hope and Ben did show sympathy and concern. OKR continued to shine and I’ll miss her. DH was great too. I really enjoy Marlena in any scenes she has with the younger cast. She plays that strong, supportive role well and DH seems to bring out the best in them - CH, RSW and OKR all play very well opposite her. If only they’d used her more in this storyline... -
Thanks Frozendiva, you’ve articulated well why I’m vested in his story. For me, they’ve given some good glimpses into how horrific his childhood was, which clearly doesn’t excuse his behaviour but does explain it somewhat. And I do see him genuinely wanting to be better. He goes backwards sometimes - with the kidnapping of Gabi being an obvious one, and the threatening of JJ’s friend (forgot his name) being another. He definitely used his reputation in those cases when he shouldn’t have, but I didn’t believe in either case that it was more than threats - and in the second instance felt RSW played that quite clearly. I liked that he owned both of those backwards steps though, admitted it was wrong and in the case of Gabi, was ready to quit his job because of it, and told Stefan he wouldn’t be involved with intimidating women again. And honestly I’m ok with characters being grey. It wouldn’t work for me if he was suddenly a white hat, given he’s clearly damaged, and has trust issues. That said, most of all I like that he has a decent level of self-awareness - which is sadly lacking generally in Salem - and doesn’t expect to be accepted or liked. Mileage varies of course though, and I totally understand why many will never accept him. The reason I like this board is having the opportunity to express different opinions respectfully. Thanks to you all for that!

And even if she accepted it to acknowledge that he’d helped Will (yeh, right 🙄), why the hell wear it out to dinner with your brand new husband? It is nonsensical. But I’ve given up trying to understand Sarah’s decisions when it comes to her love life. -

So much yes to this post. I mean, Ciara is held hostage so regularly she needs to add it to her CV, yet she thinks trash talking her captor and constantly giving the stink eye will stop her getting killed? I usually am ok with Ciara, but after today I get why others find her entitled, including Claire. And she was totally unconvincing when she said that if Claire let her go, she’d get her the help she needed. I’m thinking - no you’ll turn on her the second you’re back in Salem. I hope they use Claire’s hatred of her as an opportunity for self-reflection and a recognition that she needs to work on herself and her issues - to be fair she’s had a pretty screwed up life - but I highly doubt it. For me, ORK has done an entertaining job with this story. I appreciate actors who are all in, even when the storyline is a WTF, and she was very good today. She’s walked the line between angry, vulnerable and cray cray well. I hope to hell we never see that damn Cabin again. -

Thanks Plurie! Clearly I wasn’t paying attention 🙂 -
Totally agree on this one. I’m a Ben and Cin fan but think it’s crazy that Ciara believes people can or should accept him. Particularly Eve. Ben is showing much more self-awareness on that score. The people in this town have a long history of living alongside their sworn enemies. It’s part of the fun - no need for everyone to get along.

I wasn’t a Paige fan either but it is the second part of your post that is why the “Eve gets her revenge” story is falling flat for me. I am a Ben and Cin fan (I know I shouldn’t be, but I pretty much check my morals at the door when I watch soaps and just enjoy the stories and actors that draw me in) but I would have been more than happy for Eve to make Ben’s life hell. He absolutely deserves it and she’s absolutely justified. However she only seems to remember her daughter and what Ben did when she sees him. In comparison she decided that Jennifer and a random illegal immigrant were what her life’s mission should be about. So I just can’t with her. That said, I do enjoy the scenes between her and RSW - it’s the only time I find KdP’s Eve shows vulnerability. Otherwise I can’t connect with KdP as Eve, as for me she lacks that vulnerability - and therefore complexity - that the originalEve had. I have a totally random question that is starting to really bug me. Where the hell is Holly? I thought Xander had her, but between living at the DiMera mansion, hitting on Sarah, becoming besties with Maggie, conspiring with Kristole, and keeping two prisoners, I’m wondering how he has the time to keep tabs on a toddler. Did he ship her off somewhere?!? -

I’m in Australia where Hallmark and Lifetime movies are not a thing. I curious as to whether they are considered a step up from soaps? Any I’ve caught when in the US would suggest not to me, but I’m never sure from the comments here... -

I’m loving them also, it’s great to have some new, fresh couples. CB is just fabulous to watch and although I was liking where Stabi was going with CB/TC I’m also enjoying CB/BB. The actors genuinely seem to be having fun with it and it shows. It was also fun to watch Gabi’s nail colour change constantly between scenes. CB was rocking those green ones. Speaking of nails, I noticed Hope’s were all one colour for the first time in a long time. And that was the highlight of Hope’s storyline for me today... -

Ciara could definitely be more aware on realising she’s seen a side of Ben that no one else has, I guess I just didn’t see the entitlement others do. She’s defending someone she loves. It’s irrational, absolutely, but she’s not the first person to do that. -

Gosh Lani really annoyed me in that scene. He asked to hold him, not for full custody. I get that she doesn’t like or trust Ben but he is family and she is looking like she’s going to go full on obsessive way too quick. -
And you’ve just reminded me that Days did in fact do a ridiculous naming of another random baby. “Pocket” if my memory serves me correctly was the baby Kayla and Steve found that turned out to be Philip and Mimi’s?!? 😳😂

I hope they didn’t put much thought into it, because it’s a hot mess. I still can’t work out why anyone would believe that Haley marrying anyone was real and on top of that, how marrying Tripp rather than JJ makes any sense. Hell, I still can’t work out why I’m meant to care about Haley at all. -

No judgment from me Irlandesa - I definitely found it hot too! I wasn’t expecting it, but loved it and thought they had great chemistry. What I enjoyed most about the episode was how much of a blast everyone seemed to be having. I too am glad that Ron has brought the fun back into Days. -

I’m here for both pairings, but am definitely enjoying the bromance. I was enjoying Stefan until it became all about Gabby so it’s good to see him interacting with a wider character set. His scenes with Gabi this week have been awesome. And I loved Leo crushing on “big, beautiful Ben”. GR has been killing it this week - he’s so much more enjoyable with some depth and the reveal that John is his father was made me wish it were true, even though I’m pretty sure Diana is lying.
