  1. Ohhh thanks :D I will be sure to check it out. Getting inside Scully's head is one of my favourite things to do in ficdom ;)
  2. Most are standalone. Very very good standalones. The 'shoe' series should be read in order. I couldn't put them down. Isometey is amazing. Don't read 'Split the Lark' unless you are prepared to shed a tear. I'm bereft now I've finished them all so any more recs gratefully received :)
  3. I just finished reading the final Syntax6 story. Fabulous author. Enjoyed everything she has written. Thanks for the rec :D
  4. I rewatched the second movie last night. I didn't think much to it first time around but given the shift in the M&S relationship evident through season 10 I decided (given that the movie was quite ship centred) to give it a go. Whether it was intentional or not, I have to say that CC has remained true to what we saw in the movie. The cracks appearing in the relationship and the conflicts between the two of them regarding the lifestyle/relationship choices they were making. Season 10 M&S dynamic actually makes much more sense to me. As an added bonus the movie was better than I remembered.
  5. My moment of glory was short lived lol - great minds think alike etc etc ;)
  6. I went in to season 10 with no real expectations other than I expected it to be pretty bad (given the debacle that was the second movie). I didn't expect the characters to pick up right from where they left off in season 9 because too much time had passed. Was I disappointed with the run of six? Yeah I suppose I was a bit. I hoped for some insight in to what/ how they'd been doing in the last few years. I didn't get that and feel a bit cheated. BUT I was so damn grateful they were coming back that I was (and am) very forgiving. I invested a good chunk of my life in this show back in the day and was happy to reinvest ;) I've enjoyed each ep enough to watch them again, probably multiple times, which I can't say about some of the original eps. On the whole I'm happy. I'm not sure we will get the show back for another run - if we do then I will be less forgiving as it will no longer be a one-off treat. I will expect a much higher investment in the characters. My highlight of season 10 was the were monster eps even though I've never much liked the comedy eps (hated Jose Chung with a passion.) Why did I live were monster? Simple. Because THAT is how I like my Mulder! This forum has been great. I stumbled on it by accident. I won't be stumbling off again :)
  7. (We need a witty title for S10 to match the other season threads, but I think if you asked most people right now the suggestions would be profane.) I wanna make you say cheese (Because most of it was!) ;)
  8. Can anyone recommend a really good M+S fics thats a decent length? Relationship led but not all hearts and flowers? With a really good dose of angst - maybe an injury? I just finished 'dance without sleeping' and because of the total lack of M+S angst in this latest season.....well I need some ;) Plus I'm laid up in bed dying of boredom.
  9. I haven't seen it yet - watching today as I'm in the UK. But I'm a spoilerwhore so I've lapped up this thread ;)
  10. Very much looking forward to this and dreading it in equal measure. Only because CC has not been kind to us in past finales.
  11. I'm watching season 8 right now. I think I must have been emotionally absent at the time because I can't remember most of the Mulder-less eps which is nice because I feel like I'm seeing brand new ones. I also seem to have a new appreciation for Doggett which I didn't have before. Thoroughly enjoying the season....well except the maggoty worm in Scully's spine. That made me almost lose my recently eaten dinner lol
  12. Lol! I would so definitely kiss Mulder - that bottom lip still holds the same attraction as it always did. But if I had to have someone over for dinner? Scully every time ;)
  13. I could watch without Milder. But not without Scully. There is nothing about that character that I don't adore, but find myself, on occasions wanting to hit Milder in the face with a shovel ;) Sorry my autocorrect hates Mulder and insists on changing his name!
  14. Am I the only one who is dreading the finale? Not because its ending (far too quickly) but because I'm afraid of what CC has in store for us?
  15. To be perfectly honest I came to this season (because I'm damned if I will call it an 'event') determined to like it even though I suspected it might be a shadow of its former self. It was something I always harboured a secret hope that would happen, but as the years passed my hope waned until really, it disappeared altogether. When I heard of the reboot I was astounded, I wondered if it could possibly work. Fifteen years is a long time in TV land. There have been other reboots which have been successful - I'm in the UK and probably the most notable one is the Dr Who franchise. It came back with a bang after more than a decade and still smashes the ratings today. But that was slightly different - the nature of the show made it possible to bring in a whole new cast. No one batted an eyelid. But with XF I couldn't help wondering if a 15 year break was just too long for even the most die-hard 'philes to reopen themselves to the characters. The first ep was a little 'off' for me as I struggled to adjust to these two characters who had, until then, been frozen in time. The years have been kind to them but there us no mistaking that time , considerable time, has passed. We have seen both actors in different roles. High profile roles. They were no longer exclusively Milder and Scully. A period of readjustment was required, for me at least. I watched ep 3 4 and 5 back to back after eventually figuring out how to fool Hulu in to thinking my laptop lives in America. And by the time I'd got to Babylon, I was right back in the groove. I loved the ep. It gave me everything I needed from an XF. Maybe not the finest ever, but a good hours viewing with the bonus of a couple of standalone moments. I think I approached the reboot cautiously, with fairly low expectations. For the most part I have been pleasantly surprised on how easy its been to fall in to it again.
  16. Take my hand by Dido really hit a chord with me when I first heard it years ago. It lived in my head for a long time. I even wrote a fic based around it. I still love that sing today.
  17. I was sorting through some stuff today and found part 3 of Lydia Bowers 'dance without sleeping' series. I'm pretty sure it came in 6 parts. I've managed to find parts 5+2 through google but drawn a blank with the rest. Anyone have any clue where to find it in its entirety? I need to know lol
  18. Absolutely. I'm pretty forgiving at the moment though ;)
  19. If its any comfort I adored it. ;)
  20. Ohhh thank you. I haven't had feedback for over ten years and its made me giddy. Glad you're enjoying it. :D
  21. This is my new site. Its a work in progress but I have added in probably one of my favourites - my take on how it should have ended in a way that gave respect and peace to these characters we love so much. http://alisonreallyunique.wix.com/touchstoneallyxffic#!impossible-choices/m0fnt
  22. I loved it. So many nods to previous episodes it made my head spin. I'm in the UK and watched it on Hulu so I'm making myself wait now until it airs here on Monday to watch it again. Loved it on so many levels I can't even begin :D
