  1. Hello, good people. I'm here, but I'm peeking through a hand over my face. I was minding my business on Tumblr when a tripped across a spoiler, saying that Michonne would be kidnapped. I have no idea if this source is credible (Already they're on my shit list for putting that out there without giving me a chance to run away first. Come on, even Carol tried to get Paula to run away) and I don't want to search for confirmation for fear of getting spoiled more. Would one of you mind PMing me a Yay or Nay? Love you in advance!

  2. I said most of what I had to say way back before,  I want to clarify as to why I think Jami/Amber picking on Jubilee was also cry-bullying, as a couple people questioned me on that. (Twins on Olivia seems to be uncontroversial.) I'm not defending what Jubilee said, although I have no idea what she said as there is no film of it. I'm just saying that they were victimizing themselves as a tool to make Jubilee feel bad and create distance between her and the (mostly white and/or unfamiliar with issues of black racial identity) audience. Does anyone seriously think that Jami/Amber thought that "The Bachelor: The Women Tell All" was the best, or even a marginally decent, forum to have a nuanced conversation about the identity of biracial people and the language used to describe them?  And a strong point was made earlier, Jami/Amber (Jamber?) kept confusing whether Jubilee said "fully black" or "really black." Both of those terms could be offensive in context (again, not defending Jubilee on the merits of whatever she said), but the confusion about the phrasing showed me that neither Jami or Amber really remembers what was said, and were constructing it in a way that made Jubilee look the absolute worst, just because they didn't like her. The were opportunistically making a mountain out of a molehill to exploit a vulnerable person, confident in their support from most of the other girls on stage. I guess it comes down to proportionality and context, and I think that Jami/Amber's reaction was out of proportion and in such a context that I could only assume that they were tearing down Jubilee for air time.

So perfect and exactly why I gave no weight to what they said.

  3. Not to be repetitive, but how did the chicken enthusiast get eliminated the first night? Honestly, I think she is the prettiest blonde in the group. She even had a nice meet cute with Ben during introductions.

I, too, thought she was super pretty night 1. She didn't even bring the chickens like the woman who brought Lil' Sebastian, so it's not like he got rid of her because of weirdness.

That was my point. Jubilee was claiming to be the only real black on the show because her skin tone was darker than Amber's or Jami's and I didn't agree with her.

I don't remember anyone on the show saying that. And if they did, it never occurred to me that Jubilee had that opinion because she has darker skin. I think Jubilee had that opinion because her two biological parents are black.

  4. I must be hanging in the wrong corners of fandom then, because I've seen such as much vitriol directed at the cast/showrunners from the Rick/Michonne collective, yet here we are.

I miss their friendship, if that was all there ever was to it (funny thing, the best thing about it is that they could have easily made it sexual or romantic without altering their dynamic one bit) and I think it's a bit disingenuous for them to drop it like a hot potatoe overnight and expect the audience not to notice/care. Heck, it felt weird not to get a reaction shot from Daryl at the end of this week's episode.

Drop what? The friendship or the relationship? In my eyes, I don't think anything dropped in favor of the other. The only thing Rick and Michonne have done since they discovered their romantic feelings for each other that they wouldn't have done before is hold hands for 10 seconds and engage in brief back touching as they walked away from each other. And Michonne probably wouldn't have thrown that woman to the ground before, either. In this episode, no one had time for anything except for murdering.

  5. I really like and admire Jubilee, but with respect to that issue, we didn't see everything that was said and it did seem like she dropped some comments that were more than just her self-pride at being a full black woman on an inherently white show. FTR I have no problem with stating that she might go farther than any other full-black contestant.  That's a true statement.

But some of her other comments didn't sound as innocent as that one IMO.  To dismiss ANYONE because of the color of their skin or their ethnic background is just plain wrong.  Too many people of all races fail to understand this.  And it did seem like Jubilee made comments of that ilk although we didn't see/hear them nor could the other ladies articulate them well.

I credit Shushanna who seemed to point out that Jubilee didn't understand why those comments might be hurtful.  And I credit Jubilee who did seem to try to understand that after it was pointed out and then offered an apology of sorts.

Half my family is white and my biracial cousins all think of themselves differently, even the ones with the same parents. As a "full black" (ha!), I understand that sometimes you have a "shared consciousness" with biracial people, but only up to a point and it's easy to get too familiar with them when you don't really know their story. You really have to take each person as they are (obviously) and it's hard to judge what happened by that conversation. I can see the reality of this thing happening somewhere in the middle, but the fact that it was Jami and Amber makes me narrow my eyes. The timing and the attempts to buddy up previously that weren't reciprocated makes me think it was a grab for more screen time than an actual issue.

  6. DO people know Amber's name, though? I'm pretty sure BEN didn't even know who she was when she walked in night 1.

I think they were salty because no one cares about them. The women from this season tweet with each other constantly -- Jubilee included. No one's coming for Amber. Amber tried to get in on the fun after episode 3, tweeting Jubilee, saying something to make it seem like their spat was just a one time thing and that it blew over by the next day because they were cool. No response from Jubilee. But if I'm to go by what Amber talked about last night…yeah. Whatever. Her stunt backfired (again).

  7. My goodness. I'm so glad to see my girl Jubilee back. First of all, I'm pretty sure that Amber and Jami were heavily encouraged to shit talk her for more face time. There's a significant chunk of the viewing public who didn't even know they weren't the same person. I think some things about the glaringly obvious issue with colorism going on, but that's not stuff you say in front of mixed company (wrong use of the phrase, no pun intended).

Second, I've had a real problem with the show this year. When asked if he liked the idea of a black Bachelor on a podcast, Harrison said something like I'd rather have the show succeed than have a black Bachelor. As if the two were mutually exclusive. That, coupled with the way they continually come at Jubilee for making them look bad while maybe hoping to keep the door open for her for Bachelorette if people really want it angers me. Harrison talking to Jubes like he and Ben were bros and Ben called him late every night crying about his feelings for her was so transparent. She is my hero. She glowed tonight, owned her part, but wouldn't let anyone assign something to her just to assuage their own guilt. When she came for Ben, asking why he couldn't just say that he wasn't that into her, instead of making it seem like it was her fault for not opening up, when Ben clearly made the effort for other people, it was brilliant. And true. She's a smart woman and he should have seen this coming. Yet, he still tried to side step answering her. I'm not trying to take his humanity away -- God knows I'd be uncomfortable in a situation like this -- but every time he interacts with her, he takes a step backward in my eyes.

  8. I'm still stuck on Rick punching the zombie head to mask the nose issue. Thinking back, I believe it was the way Rick studied the head after he punched it to make sure that he achieved the desired look that got me. That Andy Lincoln is a treasure.

  9. So they attacked the bunker at night and emerged in daylight. Either it took all night to take down those within the bunker or Ed Wood is guest-directing beyond the grave.

Rick's plan was to attack an hour or two before dawn.

  10. Whew! This episode...I felt like I was going to throw up as soon as they pulled up to the compound and it went on the entire episode. I started nervous crying. I still have tears in my eyes even as I type this. What a ride! Loved Rick punching the zombie head. Of course he did.

  11. In terms of physical appeal, I think Rick is crazy hot (unfortunately he is often literally crazy) and extremely charismatic.

Rick didn't do anything for me the first few seasons, but when those I started seeing those posters with him standing on top of the prison? Something about the way he stood was really working for me. But that was it. Then when they got to Alexandria and he shaved that insane beard he was rocking? My goodness. And I don't even necessarily like him clean shaven, but that contrast made me sit up a little straighter. He never looked hotter to me than he did in 6x10, and not because of the obvious. That denim shirt...he needs to wear that at all times.

  12. Yo, you guys scared me. I stopped watching last week's episode about 10 minutes in, in favor of watching The Walking Dead instead. So I thought I missed something big on this show because I was (re)watching the mindblower that happened on TWD. Glad to know this is just in anticipation.

  13. Personally, I consider both "slut" and "whore" to be pretty gender-neutral in this day and age - but hey, maybe that's just me.

Not just you. I call men sluts and whores all of the time, too. None of this "man whore" stuff, either. No need to qualify it.

  14. I could tell who Ben was feeling by the way he was dressed. The outfit he wore to Amanda's was a wreck and I'm pretty sure he had on Vans shoes. For the JoJo date he was just rocking a t-shirt and a random fleece zip-up which he left inside in his hurry to vacate the premises.

  15. I've lived in Cincinnati my entire life and have never heard the term Jo Jo for potatoes of any kind. So that means it's neither a northeast nor a southwest Ohio thing. The only major city left is Columbus. Cincinnati is close enough to Dayton for me to assume that it's not a Dayton thing.

    Columbus gal here. Nope.

  16. Wow!  Finally Richonne is canon.  I sensed this OTP since the first few episodes when she was with Andrea - before she and Rick even met.  I believe my exact words were "Wait till Rick gets a load of this one!"  I felt instinctively, not that she would be his type or he hers, but that this is the type of woman that he needs.  Not because she could fight but because I noticed a tactical strength and a wisdom about her that I felt would be a complement to him.  That unlike his other soldiers like Daryl and Black Dude du Jour, she brought to the table what women bring to the table - that ability to sense what's going on inside the man and to soothe or bolster him as needed.  What did surprise me, however, was the beautiful relationship that she built with Carl, long before building one with Rick.  I recognized this potential from the very beginning and last night was not the start of their relationship it was the completion of the puzzle that defines what they are as a unit - sex just gave it a name, "Couple".

I liked the silliness of the rest of the episode.  In defense of the seeming stupidity of Rick and Daryl, I really felt that the whole point was just the joy of being out and about with a buddy. They are no longer scouting supplies from a place of desperation, it is more of a vocation than a survival tactic.  Jesus seemed to best them at each turn because Rick and Daryl weren't playing for keeps, if they were they would have killed him.  It was just a game of chase and pride.

This adventure was a bigger story for Rick - his new world.  A world where he has friends, not just soldiers.  He takes chances with strangers because, "why not?"  He plays with his baby, teases his son, eats candy, drinks soda, sings badly at the top of his lungs, comes home to recline on the couch and chit chat while taking off his boots (juxtapose this with the man who slept in his prison bunk with his boots on).  He laughs with the woman at his side and realizes that she is his best friend and that he is also in love with her.  He makes love to her.  Rick's new world.  To be in love with your best friend is the best of all possible worlds.  It was really quite beautiful.

All that said, I beg the writers to not mess it up by trying to SHOW what it is and let it just BE what it is.  Rick and Michonne have been married for quite some time now.  The only difference is that now they know it and they get the fun of consummating it.

Oh my gosh, this is so beautiful. I may have tears in my eyes, like a loser. TEARS OF HAPPINESS!

  17. How is it that Wyatt has still not figured out that whenever he is interested in someone Liam's involved with and Liam goes missing / is delayed / is not where he's supposed to be, it always comes out that his mother was involved?  This time, especially, is so glaring.  Liam's missing, Quinn is missing, Quinn keeps calling to check up on Wyatt and Steffy, though normally, she'd be reveling in their involvement on a first hand basis.  This is one of the reasons I never liked Chickenhead. I just don't understand how you can actively pursue your brother's fiancee.  Twice.

  18. I don't know. I feel like too much and too little is being made of this portrait, simultaneously.

All of the women leads of the show around 2013/2014 have similar portraits hanging around Forrester Creations (Brooke, Hope, Caroline, Katie and Maya).  Rick just took the one of Maya and hung it up during his tirade last year. He actually planned to take it down before Eric got back from his jaunt around the world with John but Eric came back early and surprised him by saying that he should keep it up there and that this was Rick's home now. So now Rick has a portrait of his wife up on the wall. Big whoop. I think Rick just mentioned the lead model thing as a way to try to deflate Ridge's reasoning because Maya is also a part of the company.

I've never really liked Ridge, so, even though slayer2 is correct in saying that Rick and Ridge are so similar, I usually find myself agreeing with Rick more. Ridge doesn't even live there, Eric gave his blessing for Rick to put the portrait up, but when Eric calls Ridge on the passive-agressiveness of his actions he a) feigns ignorance and b) whines that Rick didn't call him he decided to take Stephanie's portrait down. Well, yeah, he was still reeling from the fact that Ridge was making out with his wife for weeks behind his back, so...  And Ridge is doing all of this as a man in his "50s" which makes the whole thing even more ridiculous to me.
