Excellent comment. I agree...Noah is really off the rails with the pills. Helen is apparently still in love with Noah. She wanted him back before prison, and now sees him as her savior for sacrificing himself. But Noah does not want Helen, except as a temporary safe island in the storm. Alison...well Alison is struggling to get her daughter...and Cole...back. Of course, it is hard to tell her true feelings because she jumps in the sack with every passing male. Which leaves my all-time favorite...Whitney! We need more Whitney. You can never have too much whiny, self-entitled, short-sighted, complaining twenty-something.

These suggestions are brilliant. You should immediately quit your day job and join "The Affair" writing staff.
-
I believe Noah saw himself as a high school/college kid.
-
Hmmm...a plot twist: Noah will need a ride back to Jersey. Ta Da...here comes Alison. The story continues! And then Whitney shows up, and all is well with the whiny crowd.
-
Whoa...now that is really interesting. Didn't Noah assist in her suicide? If yes, his self-loathing would be the least of his psychological burden.
-
So, her death-voice generated an avalanche that buried a married man she never knew. When this man died, his widowed bride met your daddy and they made you. Huh? And this is sung while all the Affair characters are shown sinking in the ocean. Ah...I see...this is a metaphor for, umm, uhh...aw gee, my dog ate my homework.

Alison reported that any contact with Noah would jeopardize her chances of getting joint custody.

What a tangled web we weave. Now we have TWO potential daddies for Alison's next kid. Where was Cole on that Wednesday night? Not with Allison, not at the town meeting, and not with Luisa. Hmmm... BTW...can anyone make sense of "Container", the Affair opening song lyrics? No damage to the little car rear bumper...uh oh. Was it all Noah's hallucination? I'm guessing the college where Noah was teaching is Fairleigh Dickinson, in their Florham Park campus. It would still be a lengthy walk from Livingston, but that is the only justification for Livingston police to be investigating the alleged attack. Where is Whitney, now that we need her for some comic relief?

Gadzooks! The commenters here are REALLY annoyed! My guess is that the writers decided to just mess everything up. Make every character do stupid, self-serving, short-term things and ignore the consequences. They probably had a good time (and lots of coffee) diagramming how every character would hook up. Every character is jumping into the sack with every other character. Soon Helen's oldest son will be chasing his high school English teacher. Gads...what a zoo! Of course, the operational tag line for the show is: "danger lies in losing control". Oh yeah. BTW...why are the Livingston, New Jersey police investigating Noah's attack? This is supposed to be a New Jersey college. Noah lived within walking distance of the college campus. The French professor also walked to Noah's apartment. Thus, the college campus has to be in or near Livingston. But, there are NO colleges in, or near, Livingston. Yes, there was a "Livingston College" in Jersey, part of Rutgers and based in Piscataway. No way you would walk from Piscataway to Livingston. How about Caldwell University (formerly Caldwell College)? That's a hefty 5-6 miles away. Rutgers is about 40 miles away. Princeton is over 50 miles. This would not be a Community College. And it clearly is not NJIT in Newark (over 12 miles). Fairleigh Dickinson (both campuses) would be too far away, also. Anybody know? I hope everyone noticed that the Cole-Allison hookup was unprotected. Oops? This means we will have another baby popping up in season 4. Should add to the fun.

Hmmm...a very interesting story line.
-
Oops...and I thought I had a cool story line. Oh well.
-
Ok...watch as I unravel the story line mystery: Recall that there was an argument about "something" that happened 30 years ago, in the father's house. This was introduced when Noah's sister drove Noah to Mz French's house for, umm, rest. Right. So, what happened 30 years ago? Ah, the plot thickens. Here's where Brendan Fraser, jail guard, enters the scene. SOMETHING happened back in the house, between two swimmers (Noah and the guard). And what happened back then? I guess we'll just have to wait for another episode. Stay tuned... tada!

Did the writers deliberately tone down the visible skin, even during sex scenes? We saw a lot more in the first 2 seasons. And now the French professor is playing with Noah's libido, coming on to him, then pushing him away. Ah the frustration!

Classic Shakespearean plots, especially around the "who drove the car" issue. Helen drove, but feared a lengthy prison sentence for her 2nd DUI. Anticipate that this will eat at her in true Shakespeare fashion. Alison shoved Scotty, but wanted to hide it for fear she would be accused of murder. This just adds to her neuroses (the child, Cole's the daddy, the affair with Noah, drug courier) and WILL eat at her for the rest of her life (or as long as this series runs). Clearly she will never remove the blood from her hands ("out out damn spot"...oh, the cursory reading of Shakespeare is bearing fruit!). Noah was the passenger, but did the manly-man thing and fell on his sword. (note the cool English major images...clearly I benefited from my 2 visits to Princeton ;>). And the doctor? oy! he is just weird, as demonstrated by his choice of art...clearly a putz of the first class. Now, Whitney...ah, there's the rub. She plays the role of truth-teller, albeit in a self-entitled, indestructible youth kind of way. Her whining, yelling, aggravating demeanor puts the show right back on course. Three cheers for Whitney!
-
Note to writers: Want to save the season? Give us more Whitney! Yes...I need more whiny, uber-privileged, self-centered teenagers, and Whitney is the best. ;> Martin is cliche...the disgruntled, sullen, silent teen. That's easy to play: there are several in my neighborhood (according to their parents). How will the disgruntled kiddies (Whitney, Martin, Trevor) and the adults (Cole, his new wife Luisa, Helen's parents, et al) react when they find out that Noah was NOT the driver and gallantly (?) protected both Helen (the actual inebriated driver) and Alison (who shoved Scott into the path of the oncoming vehicle)? Is Noah teaching at Princeton? It did not look like Rutgers, although that would have been the better choice (see "Live Free or Die Hard"). What happened with that drug trafficking business out on Montauk? Will Detective Jeffries somehow come to Noah's defense? And remind me: why was Alison walking on the road, in the woods on that fateful night?
-
Oh boy...good episode. Turned out EXACTLY how I predicted. Everybody could get off if Alison 'fessed up and said she pushed Scotty off her. That would free Helen from being guilty. The only crime is not telling the truth about exactly what happened: obstructing justice. Now, the only downer in this episode is that there was no Whitney...my favorite bratty, annoying, disgruntled, know-it-all teen.

Okay...I need some help here: 1) Who is the father? I cannot unravel the timelines to point to Cole (the one-night visit), Scotty (eh?!), Noah (booooo....), Oscar (from the first season one-nighter). Are there any other candidates? Or has Alison exhausted all of Montauk? 2) Who ran down Scotty? Curent perps include: Noah (the obvious choice). And Cole (because he is sick of Scotty's new role and money-grubbing). Oscar (because he is still angry at Scotty for punching him out in the first season, and for losing his Lobster Roll). Now we have Alison...because Scotty is the father? And don't forget Whitney, the jilted lover. And the drug dealers...eh? 3) Whatever happened to the buried drugs...or was it drug money...lost in the first season? 4) Is Whitney the coolest, most divisive, annoying character in a night-time soap in several decades? 5) The Alison/Cole land has a thousand feet of waterfront property? Yikes...how much is that worth? 6) Helen was crushed by Noah's infidelity, Whitney's mercurial/painful behavior, Martin's petulant behavior, her mother's cloying behavior and her father's cheating behavior. I understand why she seeks sex with anyone as a means to assuage her pain. But...why does she want to pay for the high-end lawyer to defend Noah? 7) That doctor is a murder waiting to happen...drinks like a fish, then heads to the hospital. Geez!
