It cracks me up that they changed so many details from the books but they kept Troy's blouses.

I wonder if they skipped the part on age. Troy was a bit too old. Cal would have made a better Troy. Tony or JP was off... There was something about his performance. I'm still going to watch all of the movies. The Casteel series was my first adult book. I credit my mom for my love of reading, but it was her reading FITA that intrigued toddler me.

I wonder what Tony's and Troy's parents were like seeing how they ended up with two very odd sons and ages so far apart. Tony the creepy rapist, and Troy who was perfect but did have that whole thing with death and choosing to live in the cottage. How did Troy turn out so well with Tony is primary parent? Maybe really, really good nanny?

Troy annoyed me. The blouses, the SAD, the wanting or waiting to die. Heaven wasn't a real aquarius because the majority of us can't deal with such histrionics. I hate the word melancholy because of Troy... You're SAD dude! It's the seasons changing... My God close the freaking window!!! I'm glad that they left that part out of the movie, although I was happy to see that they kept him in blouses.

  3. Back in 2011 during a very sad and lonely time of my life I ran across Queen on YouTube. Somebody to Love touched me, I swear that almost every time I would play it my now husband would call or visit. I've always thought that BR was a masterpiece (oddly enough I don't remember it from my childhood, and I grew up listening to soft rock and pop) but as a whole Queen was the best. Freddie had such a versatile voice. I'm pissed that he wasn't able to live long, but I've read that he had HIV/AIDS since the mid to late 70's. I thought that Rami did a excellent job. I thought that the movie was fantastic.

I've always been more interested in the making of GWTW and that era of Hollywood history than the actual movie itself. I saw the TV movie "The Scarlett O'Hara War" more than a decade after it first aired in 1980. You can find it on YouTube. It starred Tony Curtis as David O. Selznick as he searches for the right actress to play Scarlett. All the leading ladies of the day Joan Crawford, Carole Lombard, Jean Arthur, Katherine Hepburn, Talullah Bankhead, Miriam Hopkins vie for the coveted role. Selznick goes through many trials and tribulations trying to find the right actress. Finally at the end of the movie just as they begin production by filming the burning of Atlanta first, Selznick's brother introduces him to a young actress from England by saying "Meet Scarlet O'Hara." and it's Vivian Leigh(played by Morgan Brittany) and Selznick smiles.

Leigh was the perfect choice not just because she was so startingly beautiful(especially for the then new technicolor with those green eyes), but also half Irish and grew up in India during the British Raj, so acting like a member of a more privileged class and race wouldn't have been hard.

Tallulah may have been up there in age, but I think that she would have made a ok Scarlett.

I LOVE Tallulah Bankhead. Her episode of I Love Lucy (or maybe it was another Lucy show) is the best episode.

By chance, I took it upon myself to rewatch Gone with the Wind this weekend, in it's entirety which is something I haven't done in probably 25 years when I was a kid.

I am left with a number of disturbing thoughts

First off... Scarlette O'Hara? I realize that we look at life through a much different lense today, but she is simply an absolutely horrible person throughout. I find it hard to fathom that she could be found likeable (or root-for-able) in any era. Even in the reimagined fantasy Old-South that's portrayed, people still tell her she's a cruel, horrible person. She literally beats a horse to death, giving it the killing blow while within 100 yards from Tera, while saying "move Beast!" I know, I know. Horses were beasts of burden then, but the inclusion of that scene is simply strange and can only be seen as a way to further cement her as ruthless and horrible.

And yet, she's the "heroine" of the story and I have to believe you are supposed to root for her on some level. I just never could. There is a slight hint of female empowerment with her character, but it's so greatly overshadowed by everything else negative about her as to make it nearly worthless in that regard. And with how much of her gain is taken at the expense of other women, it's hard to see much redeeming there even in terms of any female empowerment.

I had a ton of other thoughts about it, but most are related to this main point. It's anti-American, confederate propaganda. I find it fascinating and disturbing that we allowed it to be such a wildly herralded piece of Americana(from a cultural standpoint, not a freedom of speech one).

Just imagine how present day flag waving conservatives talk about various pieces of art, or fiction, or speech that paints any kind of negative light on things America has done in the past.

This piece literally paints General Sherman as a monster, while holding up those that took up arms to try and end our country as heroes. It shows our country's enemy combatants as folksy, well mannered gentlemen and the Union soldiers (otherwise known as American soldiers) as rapists, murderers and thieves. Try to imagine how conservatives (or conservative southerners) would feel about a movie that gave the same treatment to Iraqi soldiers, or Iranian or one of our enemies, while portraying American attacks as destructive slaughter.

And the thing is, this type of confederate propaganda has worked. They introduce the carpetbaggers with a literally singing "Uppity Darky", portray the freed slaves as idiots that have their votes bought by free handouts from the Union government, and propagate the idea that the slaves were too stupid to make it on their own, and were happier and better off with their white masters who knew better.

Considering the modern political "Southern Strategy", really the undercurrent of this is that this type of propaganda has managed to keep the idea of the Old South alive and the same fallout from the Civil War and many of the same attitudes about the Confederacy and blacks going strong 150 years later. Many people today still support political ideals based on believing in the fantasy of the "Old South" that was portrayed in this movie, whether they do so conciously or not.

I would like to see GWTW as a simple piece of fiction, with a backdrop set around the Civil War, like I did when I first saw it. However, i can't... and it's not. It's not "Birth of a Nation", but it may have been more harmful because it is seen as so harmless for so many people that it was so reviered for so long.

I wonder if this movie were never made would the south and slavery be so revered today? I would if we would have loser participation trophies, or white people sitting on the porches of plantations wishing that they could have a darky like Prissy there to fan them (true story, I overhead this in Nashville at a plantation). I wonder if the history books wouldn't today try to paint slavery as voluntary, or even worse the Civil War was about state rights. I just wonder how much GWTW has played into the romancing of the south. Great movie once I can get pass the racism.

I do love Clark Gable because of this movie.

  6. So much misinformation. I know a few people, in particular the earlier victims that weren't mentioned.

I'm sure that mandated reporting wasn't a thing in 90-92 when he was trolling Kenwood. Did she and the other staff know? Of course, the music room would fill up when he came to the school.

Sparkle's niece is very close to Kelly's family and even him. She still comes around him.

There's no way that I would take my child to a R. Kelly concert or sign a guardianship letter so that someone in his camp can watch her. Especially in exchange for money. Both the Clarys and Savages did. When the daughters were trying to set up a meeting Avenatti told them not to because it puts public opinion on their side and makes Kelly look bad. Is he sick yes. Is he guilty hell yeah, I know that 100% certainty. However, at least one of the girls was an adult. An adult who Kelly flew out to see their daughter often. She cut off contact after they grilled her on video about her and his sex life.

Sadly, I think that Avenatti has tainted this case. Hopefully it can be savaged, because while I don't think that he's held anyone hostage (there are videos with some of those ladies and parents talking about how they were lying but Lifetime couldn't cut it out because of cost) he deserves jail for Aaliyah and someone I knew.

The case of Dottie Caylor was on today.  That was so strange for a number of reasons.  They claim the husband didn't even live with her for much of the marriage, and she neither worked or left the house due to social phobias.  If he didn't want to be with her why not divorce her instead of having a 'chick on the side.'  I do believe either he, or someone else, murdered her because she never turned up, but then I wondered: Well maybe she found another man like her husband and now she's living with him, never leaving the house or interacting with anyone, so no one knows she's still around.  Although after the case appeared on 'Unsolved Mysteries" you would think someone would notice and say something.

That husband was a complete dick, pompous and saying how she inconvenienced him, and some crap. I totally think he killed her.

He's still alive. Still creepy. He lives in Utah and ran for some type of political office and lost.

Unsolved Mysteries is also on Tubi TV. I appreciate them offering it for free on many platforms. I've probably rewatchd the earlier episodes 3 or 4 times since they hit Amazon. They're great for falling asleep.

Given the revelations of this episode, all Miller had to do when Nate confronted him was reveal the truth and he'd still be alive today.

Nate: Admit it! You tried to have my pops killed! Admit it!

Miller: I tried to save your pops! Xavier Castillo was the one who arranged for his murder. I tried to stop it but he outsmarted me. And here's all the proof.

    Nate: Oh.

I said the same thing! So much murder and drama could be avoided if they would commucate more, but then we wouldn't have a show.

It took 19 years but we’re getting a Black winner

IKR. It's a damn shame. Big Brother is the most racist reality show on TV. 19 years! Survivor has had multiple Black winners, oh well, back to Survivor. I'm sure the regular season of Survivor will be more of the same trashy ass racist hipsters.

I think that Tamar told Ricky that BB had NEVER in 19 freaking years had a Black winner (has one ever made it to the final 2?)and that was the reason why he gave it to her.

  11. I thought that the FBI said that the blood test results on the gun didn't match Nate Jr (and Nate Sr.)blood on the gun, so they were doctored. That's leading me to believe that Miller wasn't so innocent. Along with him investigating Annalise, I think that he was trying to pull Bonnie away from AK. That all leads me to believe that he's not so innocent.

Not bad advice, but it won't be enough. This speaks to my earlier point. Already everyone is bending over backwards to keep her happy. Which is probably why she does it. But it's never enough. She'll leave the house and tell everyone how mean everyone was to her.

Kandi? She's more likely to leave and say how much she didn't care about the experience she had with Tamar. She already has money. She's probably the one is most there for the experience.

I don't think that she's the type for this game.

So I remember hearing how Ryan Lochte was more or less forced into Celebrity BB by his agent but it really clicked on tonight's episode when he said that he is training for the 2020 Olympics.  Clearly they are trying (desperately) to rehab his image before the 2020 Olymipcs while not significantly interfering with his training schedule.  But maybe his agent forget about the feeds?  It would be really tough for anyone to maintain an act 24/7 for 3 weeks.  We'll see what his true colors are over the next couple of weeks.

Didn't he have a dirty drop or get caught with drugs or something?

Lochte can't get Dinah's name right (Diana?). Funny how everyone keeps walking in on Ryan and Jonathan's conspiring.

I forgot Ricky was here. I think that quick shot of him was the first time I've seen him tonight.

One thing - they need a new scriptwriter for the diary rooms or just have them answer questions like they did for BBOTT. I think that would be funnier.

Julie's dress is odd - it's like a Project Runway mishap.

I want to see the HOH room. Aren't they going to have Ryan say, "Who wants to see my HOH?"

I wouldn't mind if Tom or Jonathan went home. I'd like Anthony to stay around awhile just to see if he makes things crazy in the house.

I thought that she maybe tore it and they couldn't fix it in time enough for the show to start.

    Ryan is cute.

Kandi doesn't play, Ryan better watch himself.

    Tamar is so extra.

Marlo, this isn't you're-not-a-mom-shade, it's ignorance correction.  Yes, in fact, 13 weeks and 5 minutes is the same amount of time in terms of uterine snapback.   Your organs don't even know they're alone again till bout 5 weeks later.  That girl got yo body beat five ways from Sunday and just housed a whole person.

So my commuter boo and I were talking about it this morning.  She said what'd you think about that scene particularly.   She doesn't have kids and my only went off to college in September too.  I said honestly, I'm torn.  Lil Wilder had that moment going to high school so I was sympathetic and sniffly and bosom hugging her too.   The kids are upset because they're scared and I think the parents are upset because it's one of the few times in their lives you can't make that better, which means they're growing up, which makes you all subaru commercial weepy.    BUT, I don't know if it's the african in me, the hostess in me or the hammer in me - tell them to go away?

    B4rrv6aCQAAmGkC.png

We live far enough from civilization that we have our own piece of lake, Noelle.  These people, your family and my friends came all the fuck the way out here to wish you bon voyage and give you bosom hugs of their own and tell you you're gonna be fine, so I'mma give you about 35 minutes to take this guut Calgon shower, get your face and pigtails together and bring your ass down to the kitchen upset or not.  I definitely won't win any mom of the year of trophies either because I'dve told her in. that. order.   It's ok to be sad and sentimental - everybody in that house knows what she was going through.  It's not ok to be self absorbedly rude to your guests because you're in your feelings.  Welcome to adulting.      Leon for the wins!   What he say - don't worry just get to school and then have your school experience.  #dassit     What are your options?  Take a gap year that turns into your whole life?  Shoutout to Bryson.

I gotta give it to Porsha for rewiring herself to be attracted to a whole nother type of dude.   Kordell's surface image was -- mmm - I'll think of the word directly, but Dennis.  Lol.  Where does a grown man find pajamas that double as street wear and actually put that shit on to go out in public?  I was joking when I said it initially but hell maybe he really did think the onesie he opened on his birthday was for him.

Mama Joyce and Kelly Bensimon have the same understanding of lemons and lemonade.   Either way, I'm gone need both of them not to try and analogize anything ever again.   She loves herself some of Todd's baby but still jabbing his father.  Troll.

I would have quit his little dumb ass right there. Having said that, let me go re-watch that moment. That was funny! I swore it was staged. It has to be. Homeboy was looking like, 'damn, now how am I gonna get into this' or 'did she forget my size again?' or 'I wonder if Foot Locker or Hush Puppy got some shoes to match this?'.

  16. I am so here for Tiffany Pollard.

I can't really watch BB. Way too much racism. I still have flashbacks from Aaryn (the name was a dead giveaway) and and Gina Marie. I haven't watched since then other than CBB last year. Even then there were tinges of racism. It's the casting agent. They have to purposely pick these people. Which says a lot about them. I've heard that there will be a new casting agent, so I'm giving it another chance this summer.

    Bring on Tiffany!

Those are both common variations based on different dialects and languages so just because it’s not how you pronounce your name I wouldn’t say it was a mispronunciation. I have a name that also has different pronunciations and I correct once, my friends correct multiple times, at the end of the day I don’t actually care. I have a good friend who literally cannot hear the difference in how she pronounces my name and how I pronounce it so she says it’s her nickname for me.

If I tell you how I pronnuce my name and you pronnuce it any other way it's  mispronounced in my book. Thank you for your comment and you enjoy your day love.
