  1. I'd forgotten this one! I laughed out loud at that, too. You really need to hand it to Oliver, he has a knack for putting a positive spin on a lot of things, while still being extremely, dramatically glum about others.
  2. I managed to actually enjoy Paul Rudd in this episode - he had so many good lines. In addition to calling ZG "Mr Anaphylaxis" he also commented on what he thought was Mabel's beard! Charles' "...That's not Mabel..." what also perfectly timed. I wasn't sure what the thumping was all about when Oliver and ZG were talking but someone has commented that it appeared to be Glen Stubbins so that's got to be linked to something... Much better episode than last week's.
  3. Maybe I was too tired for this episode but Paul Rudd wasn't really funny to me. The bad Irish accent probably contributed to it. I might have to rewatch after some sugar or something... I did laugh at Oliver and his iPad, and Mabel's comments on the brightness. I empathise completely - my mother loves her bright bright iPad and of course takes photos with it. Hilariously accurate by the show.
  4. I'm not a fan of Zach Galifianakis but his voice over was really well done, he sounded very much like Oliver - his inflections and the tone was spot on. That's my only solid takeaway from this episode. Oh, and Kumail was good
  5. The show won some serious hardware at the Emmy's last night, including Outstanding Drama Series. Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada each won Lead Actress/Actor in a Drama Series Outsanding Directing in a Drama Series for Frederick E.O. Toye Shogun also won a bunch of Creative Arts Emmys as awarded last week for costuming, makeup, casting, sound editing...
  6. I watched it just for the promise of "Fish Heads"! It'd been years since I heard that song!
  7. Season 5 (!?) of The Bay airs on Acorn Sept 18th.
  8. This was explained via text-message between Howard and Mabel. You might have been looking away when they showed the texts and missed that part as no one was speaking at the time.
  9. Seriously. I kept saying "You aren't rookies! Call the COPS!" I mean, they have someone they can call directly, even. Other than that, I really enjoyed the episode and was also sad to have only one ep available!
  10. Hugh Dillon interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Spoilers for S3 (clarity on a storyline I've spoiler-tagged below), hope for S4 but no announcement yet.
  11. Did we ever find out what Iris told Ian in the interview room at the police station?
  12. But is there closure on Robert - he was shot in the chest but the vest caught it, then he was shot in the neck but didn't Evelyn say he'd survive? Kyle is charged with attempted murder. Kyle, how tf do you miss from there?! If Evelyn wants Robert so badly, she's going to want to listen to what Kyle has to say...if he says why he did what he did, and the witnesses corroborate. I mean, the people in the car, not the SWAT guys - I assume the SWAT guys would back Robert. Evelyn cornering Ian was such a stretch, does it even make sense that she'd be looking into Charlie's tours? Ian received a commendation for helping bring closure to families of Charlie's victims. It seemed out of left field to dig that up. So Bunny is in control now, but the AB is not completely out of the picture. Speaking of the AB, I was sad that Kareem went out the way he did but mostly because I really appreciate Michael Beach as an actor. It made sense in the context of the show though. Iris, good riddance. Sorry Emma but that storyline was well past due. I am SO GLAD they didn't have Mike and Iris hook up at any point. Thank goodness for small miracles. If there is a S4, I'm interested in how they will fill the holes of these characters that have left. I'm worried for Ian, and I'm worried for Kyle. I did like how the voiceover was Mike speaking to the mother whose actions weren't far off from Kyle's. I'm also worried for Evelyn as she goes after Ian and Kyle. I really like her character and her relationship with Mike. If there is a S4, I'll watch.
  13. This description couldn't be more vague
  14. This was a satisfying end to the Charlie storyline. I hadn't fully realised that Stevie didn't know about the man on the porch, but it makes sense, so Ian waiving Stevie off in the field like "don't worry, he (Charlie) is crazy" kind of thing ramped up the tension a bit. I think Charlie was playing Ian to a degree - the change in tone of voice was creepy af and I liked Ian taking immediate action. Ian hadn't ever really let his guard down. I did laugh at Ian telling Stevie to put his positive hat on when they first arrived at the field, and then Stevie later turning to Ian in disgust "THE LEGS". The prison guard who tried to intimidate Tracy coming back and trying AGAIN to intimidate her was ridiculous. I loved that she took action herself. That was great for her to get her agency back. Robert is a disaster. It was wise for Mike to get Stevie and Ian to make Raf's arrest. Ian telling Robert to fuck off was a nice touch - they're all a little tired of having to babysit him. Robert is an asset when they want brutal violence but he is unable to handle any finesse. It almost seems like there is foreshadowing with Kyle having to handle Robert in some way later on. I love Aiden Gillen but Milo can take Iris and walk into the sea.
  15. I guess Mike IS attempting to control all the gangs' reactions. I can't tell yet if it's working or not because I'm not really clear on his end game. We know the sniper was Black and the young guard (also in a fantastic scene with Michael Beach/Kareem) is on Bunny's payroll but Mike tells Cal it was military grade and plays on Cal's racism to support the notion that the Crips don't/can't have that kind of firepower. I'm guessing: Bunny is pissed because his drugs are bad so he can't sell - Mike doesn't want him selling and killing people. The Russians are trying to get in on/get control of the drug trade by sidling up to the AB. Mike is trying to get the Russians and the AB to cancel each other out. The AB is trying to control the drug trade and eliminate the Crips because they're racist, obviously. One line that had me laughing was Ian yelling down from the prison tower in utter exasperation, "Mike, I'm doing fucking police work up here!" Glad Tracy went to Mike. She stood up for herself (and the inmates when Mike questioned the rape). Consent appears to be an even greyer area in the prison even with the blatant imbalance of power. Glad Tracy didn't cave and evoked Mariam. I enjoyed Mike bringing Ian along to tune up the guard that threatened Tracy so he DIDN'T kill him. Their exchange was also classic. "I'm going to hurt (kill?) someone" "Since when do you need help with that?" "I want you to stop me" Constantine does a lot of drugs, I cannot see what his long term plan is for Kingstown either. I did enjoy him taking out one of the AB guys just because Cal got all choked about it. Finally, the Headstones song "Captain of the Shit Out Of Luck" was played in the bar scene, where Ian questions the prison guard and gets him outside for Mike.
  16. The show received four Emmy nominations, including Best Comedy Series.
  17. Air date; July 21, 2024 This episode was written by Hugh Dillon (Detective Ian Ferguson) and the episode title is the name of a song by Dillon's band Headstones.
  18. The AB gang seems to be who shoved the bus into the river, IMO. No Cal this week but we see the AB guards running amok. Why hasn't the warden stepped in? I can't imagine Carney kept his beating to himself. It feels like we're missing a few scenes. Tracy's interaction with that guard was eye-rolling. She is surrounded by people who would literally just kill that guy for her without a second thought. She doesn't need to be worried. She is acting like a regular person instead of a Kingstown local, married to a cop, and sister-in-law to the Mayor. Ian and Charlie making an appearance was a nice touch. Ian, still trying to get Charlie to reveal where all his victims are and -bam- Charlie draws the cop he killed while on walkabout with Ian last season. Oops. That's foreshadowing, certainly. I'm sad Bunny and Mike are on the outs, but Mike needs a little taste of reality. He can't be the puppeteer all the time, he isn't all knowing. Iris' story is starting to flesh out a little. It's a bit anvillicious to have those two random characters (man and woman) show up in her circle, so I'm sure she'll be tripped up by one of them at some point. Not that I care overly about HER but the trickle down on Mike and everyone else will be the issue. Rebecca standing up for herself to Mike was great - I didn't think he was funny, either. She's never late, and if she was, how would he EVER know!?
  19. To me, those guards were AB-loyal. I mean, the actor playing the guard who helped Carney remove Cal from the library looked like a Wikipedia article photo for "neo-Nazi". I still can't fathom how much Mike bosses around KPD - I suspect this is not how Mitch ran things. Loved the scene with Mike and Evelyn. Those two have chemistry and serious potential. Ian calling Konstantin a fuckface was the line of the episode for me - that's an insult I favour.
  20. Stephen King fired off a few tweets about the show yesterday and Deadline did a little rundown. I laughed at his first tweet, though:
  21. Sadly, Kyle shot her. She was caught in the crossfire during the house shootout.
