  1. I am bereft at the thought of months without John Oliver and Bill Maher. I barely made it through this week. Just terribly grateful I'm not visiting in-laws over the holidays this year. Not sure I could maintain no-politics politeness.
  2. Tara, I liked the first ep of Insecure a lot, but the second turned me off and I haven't been back. I ADORED Atlanta and Better Things, and Insecure at first seemed in the same vein, but then I wasn't so sure. So you're telling me to try again?
  3. My god, I feel like I've stumbled onto the wrong thread. I love this show so much. I hope I'm half the mom that Sam is.
  4. Looks like no one has commented on this yet, but I took the pomegranate business as a reference to Persephone in Hades. She ate six pomegranate seeds and was unable to leave the underworld. After some negotiation, the gods settled on an annual six month sentence in Hades, during which winter gripped the earth as her mother mourned her absence, and six months of freedom above, when Demeter rejoiced and summer and bounty returned to the land. So perhaps if Carol ate the pomegranate seeds, or any other of the proffered fruit, she wouldn't be able to leave The Kingdom?
  5. Also 43. Class of 1991. BAG sat next to me in 10th grade English in the spring of 1989, then left to do the show and didn't return to our school. He was nice, fwiw. We weren't friends, but he made me laugh when our teacher was being a dick.
  6. Cindy Loper!! HAAAAA!!! Maybe my favorite reference of any of yours, ever. Thank you for that.
  7. I'm crying again just reading this write up.
  8. I was '96. But. . . go Bears! #DylanMcKaywasrejected heh!
  9. Sounds like we were classmates, Stowaway! Class of '95. You?
  10. Sarah, I AM YOUR PEOPLE!! I agree with every word you said about Deadwood. I want to like it, and I've tried, really, but.... And much as I love me some Olyphant, I just never felt him here. Also, my mom loved Silk Stalkings. And, ahem, so did I.
  11. Most Valuable Player was Sarah, hands down. Those were some quality rants.
  12. For what it's worth, Sarah, my kid's National Geographic Little Kids magazine told me that wombats' poo is cube-shaped. The more you know.
