I think it's absolutely correct to say that Nessa is a deluded, self-righteous fanatic, but it seems like the series understands that. I like that we're being given a heroine who is so deeply flawed, but not in the dark, hateful way that antiheroes typically are on TV. In a way, I'd say she's like someone from a Greek tragedy, with her well-meaning intentions leading everyone further down the path to hell.

Yes, swimmyfish! I want this show to be fun and not a lot of cheap philosophical statements and brooding looks.

@kat Your point about the Christmas movies is well taken. Another sign Chlumsky worked to grow from a naturally charismatic child actor into an adult performed with real chops. Like I said, I really respect that.

I concur with both of you regarding doubts about the American remake. And yet... sucker that I am... I'll totally watch it, at least for a weeks. Here's hoping that doesn't lead to disappointment and rage!

NichD, what did you think of her after this first episode? I went from liking her a lot---I even chose her for my Drag Race pool---to wanting her out the door as quickly as possible.

Just dropping by to say I agree with all of this. There's nothing worse than somoeone falsely believing they are clever. This is promising to be my problem with Bianca del Rio as well.

You are absolutely correct about that, Fiferoo. Richie is blatantly awesome. Though as John said in this week's EHG, I do give props to the show for making Patrick and Agustin's dysfunctional friendship seem believable. I totally buy they way they are together, even if it drives me crazy.
